How is your English

The aims:

  • To develop students' logical thinking, memory, attention;

  • To develop students: speaking, reading and writing skills;

  • To develop the respect or relationship between students.

Methods a way: completion between three teams.

Equipment : ballons, posters, pictures, cards.

Preliminary work:

- to divide into 3 teams;

- to appoint captains;

- to compose scenario;

Procedure

Chief : dear teachers and quests welcome to our " How is your English" competition. You must support our teams by clapping. Let me introduce our jury. We ask you, not to be too critical.

Let me invite our teams.

  • The 1st part of our competition is introduction of teams.

Team introduce themselves.

  • Jury, what about the result of the first competition?



  • The 2nd part of our competition is "choosing the user". You must complete the sentence below by choosing a suitable word from the ones on the right. Use each word once only.

The 4th part of our competition is " Pantomime". Each of the team must expose a pair. The team gets a card with the dialogue in it. Each pair must role plays this dialogue without any saying.

DIALOGUE 1

Situation : a girl meets her girl-friend in the headphones.

Materials needed: walkman.

  1. What are you listening to?

  2. Pardon ?

  2. Sorry, I can not hear you, I am listening to Michael Jackson.

  1. Will you take off your headphones?

  2. What did you say?

  1. Nothing!

DIALOGUE 2.

Situation: some people are working in the library reading-room. A little boy is playing with his pen and causing much noise. The librarian asks him to stop it.

Materials needs: table "Library"

Librarian: Excuse me. Will you be quite please?

Boy: Pardon?

L: I said, will you be quite, please?

B: I am sorry, can you say that again? Silence in the library.

B: what did you say?

L: I said be quite!

B: What?

L: Shut up!

DIALOGUE 3.

Situation: three children are going to play school.

Materials needs: blackboard, chalk, exercise-book and pencils.

Jim: Come here, Lily, Poly! Let's play school!

Lily, Poly: With a great pleasure!

Jim: I'll be a teacher and you'll be my pupils. Now, pupils take your places.
