2. T: - Glad to see you. Let's begin our lesson. The theme of our lesson is Australia. We shall sum up everything what we have learnt about Australia and what you have prepared, your additional information. Be ready to enjoy your English, to evaluate your knowledge, to be more active. You will be able to talk everything you have learnt, what you want to know, to ask and answer questions.

3.There are some words on the blackboard, read them and explain.

Emu [`i:mju] is a large Australian bird which runs well, but cannot fly. It is represented on the Australian coat-of-arms. It is the next tallest bird in the world after the ostrich.

Kangaroo [kængа`ru:] There are many different types of kangaroos. The biggest are the great grey kangaroos. They are 213 centimeters tall and can run at 56 kilometres per hour. Some run from you, then stop and stare. He jumps along on its large black legs and which carries its young in a pouch.

Koala [kou´a:la] The coala is a tree-loving, comical-looking animal, that likes on the leaves of eucalyptus trees. It will eat nothing more. It usually sleeps during the day.

Echidna [i`kidna] is a toothless ant-eater of Australia.

Dingo [diŋgou] is one of Australia's wild animals. It is a wild dog which kills other animals at night. It is reddish brown or yellow. Its feet and its tail are whitish. It is about 50 centimeters high .

- Good thank you. So, we have learnt a lot of about Australia and today we are going to share our knowledge. Look at the blackboard. You see Australia in the middle and several branches. The task is to go to the blackboard, take one of the branch you like and tell us what you know about this.

Cities - there are 5 big cities in Australia: Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane. Each city is the capital of the state in which it is situated. Sydney has about 3 mln. inhabitants.It is a largest city and a port of Australia, capital of New

South Wales. Melbourne has about two and a half million people, other cities are much smaller.Melbourne is the capital of Victoria , a seaport and a trading centre.Adelaide is the capital of South Australia , port Adelaide is 11 km away. Perth is a capital and a commercial centre of western Australia. Brisbane is the main port, capital and commercial centre of Queensland, Eastern Australia.

People; Today there are about 15 mln people in Australia , most of them are of British origin. At the end of the 18th century there were 300.000 aborigines in the country . There are now only 40.000 full aborigines and 39.000 part aborigines who live mainly in the tropical and desert areas.

Geographical "Times New Roman, serif"> The commonwealth of Australia is a federal state within the Commonwealth of Nations. Its teritories are the continent of Australia, the island of Tasmania and a number of smaller islands. It has an area of about 8 mln. square kilometers.

Animals. There are many wild animals in Australia. Some of them, such as kangaroo, the dingo or wild dog, the koala, the echidna and the emu are not found in any other country of the world.

Relief. The continent of Australia is mostly a great plain with mountains in the east and south- east.The western part of the continent forms a plateau which occupies half of the continent. The central lowlands a great part of which is very dry , lie between the western Australian plateau and the Eastern Highlands.Through the eastern part of these Central Lowlands run Australia's greatest rivers the Murray and the Darling. A number of short rivers flow from the Alps and the blue mountains into the Pacific Ocean.

Vegetation. The tropical forests in the north and north- east are displaced by Savanna or grassland.In thesouth-east and on the sides of the mountains there are forests of eucalyptus and other evergreen trees. There are two hot deserts in the central and western part of the continent.

History.The east coast of Australia was discovered by Captain Cook in 1770. It was then first used as a colony for convicts. The early settlers were very cruel to the aborigines the people who lived in Australia from the earliest times. Towards the end of the 19th century, the Australian colonies began to discuss some form of union. They formed a federation, the new constitution was introduced on January1, 1901 and the birth of the new nation was celebrated.

Climate. Australia has several different climatic regions from warm to subtropical and tropical. There are tropical forests in the North-east because the winds from the sea bring heavy rainfalls, especially in tropical summer.The climate in the west is very dry and more than half of Australia gets very little rain. In the south- west and east the winds bring rain in winter.

- How many children have you got? - I've got 8 children.

- What are you doing here? - I've known that you are learning some facts about my native country, so I've come to your lesson.

- Where do you live? - I live in the tropical forests.

- Why are you so white? - I imagine that the aborigines must be black.

- My father is white. Oh, it's joke I live in the forest. I almost don't see the Sun.

- Is it true that dead man's spirit gets into a boat? - Yes, it is. The boatman takes the spirit to an island. This island is very far from Australia.

- How did you get to Kazakhstan? - I'm taking part in the reality-show "Invasion".
