Theme: "Work. Job."

Objectives:

Educational: to practice talking about professions; to discuss the most important factors for choosing a job; to express personal opinions.

Developing: to develop pupils' activities and skills in their speaking, writing and reading; to develop communicative competence of pupils; to develop critical thinking.

Bringing- up: to bring up respect to their individuality, confidence; to prepare for real life; to bring up cultural awareness, co-operation, getting on well in a team, flexibility.

Visual aids: interactive board, cards, additional material.

The procedure of the lesson:

Greeting. Hello our guests! Welcome to our English lesson.

T: At the beginning of the lesson let's do some training. Here you see different figures in colours. Come here, please, and choose the figure you like. OK.

  1. Let's find the difference between the words WORK/ JOB/ PROFESSION

Read, please.

WORK - means to have a job, to do the job that you are paid for.

JOB - the regular paid work that you do for an employer.

PROFESSION - a job that needs a special education and training.

    - Have you decided what you are going to do after school?

    T: Finishing school is the beginning of the independent life for millions of school leavers. Many roads are open before them: technical schools, colleges, universities. It is not easy to choose a profession out of all existed in the world. Some pupils follow their parents' advice, others haven't decided yet.



    1. Phonetic drill.

    Some people often say to me:

    "Have you decided what you want to be?"

    I usually answer: "I don't know"

    But it isn't really so.

    1. T: As you know each profession can be interesting, boring, difficult and so on. Look at the list of adjectives and choose what qualities are required for the following professions.

    1. The question "What makes a manager successful?" often comes up. First of all, a manager needs the right kind of professional support. In other words a good manager requires the assistance of a good secretary. A good secretary needs to have the right kind of secretarial skills. These include the ability to use modern technology, such as computers. These are additional skills that are just important. More and more manages need secretaries who can speak several foreign languages fluently. Success of failure in international negotiations can depend on this. This requirement is often stressed in job advertisements today. Many applicants are rejected because the candidates lack such skills.

    Read the following jobs. For which do you need English?
