Конкурс « Do You Know English-Speaking Countries?»

Оборудование: звёздочки, таблички с цифрами 1-6, слайды.

Ведущий:Glad to see you, dear boys and girls, guests and teachers! Today we are having a competition « Do You Know English-Speaking Countries?» Now the participants will introduce themselves.

Участники конкурса коротко говорят о себе по-английски, затем читают наизусть стихотворение или поют песенку на английском языке, чтобы получить балл.

I Тур «Страноведение»

Task 1 «Flags»

На доске помещены флаги стран, перечисленных ниже, в такой последовательности: 1) Australia, 2) New Zealand, 3) Scotland, 4) the UK,5) England, 6) Canada.

Вопросы участникам конкурса:

1) Which is the flag of Australia? (1)

2) What country consists of 4 parts? (4)

3) What country lies to the north of the United States of America? (6)

4) What country lies to the north of England? (3)

5) What country lies to the south of Scotland? (5)

Task 2 «Symbols»

На доске помещены такие эмблемы: 1) a red rose, 2) a thistle, 3) the bald eagle, 4) a shamrock ,5) a daffodil.

Вопросы:

1) What is the national symbol of Scotland? (2)

2) What is the national symbol of Wales? (5)

3) What is the national symbol of England? (1)

4) What is the national symbol of Ireland? (4)

Task 3 «London Sights»

На доске открытки, на которых изображены: 1) Westminster Abbey, 2) Buckingham Palace, 3) the Houses of Parliament, 4) St. Paul's Cathedral, 5) the Tower of London, 6) Trafalgar Square.

Вопросы и описание:

1) What building has Big Ben? (3)

2) It was built by William the Conqueror as a fortress and a royal palace. Later it was a prison, now it is a museum and a Royal Treasure. (5)

3) What is the home of the Queen? (2)

4) It is a royal church. There are tombs of many British kings and queens and other famous people. This is where the coronation takes place. (1)

Task 4 «Holidays»

На доске открытки-поздравления с праздниками: 1) Halloween, 2) Christmas, 3) St. Valentine's Day, 4) Mother's Day, 5) Father's Day.

Учащимся предлагается несколько вопросов с тем, чтобы они назвали, о каком из них идет речь.

1) This holiday is celebrated on the 14^th of February as a day of love and friendship. (3)

2) People buy presents, cards and send them to their friends and relatives. Parents put their presents into stockings. They also decorate streets, rooms and a tree. (2)

3) Children make lanterns out of pumpkins, dress as witches and ghosts and go from house to house and say: «Trick or treat!» (1)

Task 1 «English Tenses»

Task 1 «Rooms»

The Final

Предлагается участникам конкурса такое задание:

Make as many words as you can out of the word «Sportsmen».

Учащиеся называют слова: sport, port, or, men, sort, to, ten, rose, nose, stop, pot, post, most, on, no, not, pet, more, rest, nest, pen, note, top etc.

Победитель конкурса получает приз.
