Presenter 1: The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960 and one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music. From 1962 the group consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Rooted in skiffle and 1950s rock and roll, the group later worked in many genres ranging from folk rock to psychedelic pop. The nature of their enormous popularity, first emerged as the "Beatlemania".

Presenter 2: The Beatles built their reputation in Liverpool and Hamburg clubs over a three-year period from 1960 and achieved UK mainstream success in late 1962 with their first single, "Love Me Do". Gaining international popularity over the course of the next year, they toured extensively until 1966, and then retreated to the recording studio until their breakup in 1970.

Presenter 3: Nearly four decades after their breakup, The Beatles' music continues to be popular. They have sold more albums in the US than any other artist. They

have been honored with 7 Grammy Awards. The Beatles were collectively included in Time magazine's compilation of the 20th century's 100 most important and influential people.

John Lennon: Hello, dear friends, I'm John Lennon or John Winston Ono Lennon. Along with Paul McCartney I wrote some of the most popular music in rock and roll history. I had two sons and my second wife was an avant-garde artist Yoko Ono. One month after the release of my last album I was murdered in New York City on December 8, 1980.

Presenter 1: When did you decide to try making music?

John Lennon: I took guitar lessons at Hunts Cross in Liverpool, although gave up the lessons soon after. In 1957 I met McCartney and his father told that I would get him "into a lot of trouble". We began writing songs together.

Presenter 2: What was your first song?

John Lennon: When I was 18 years old I completed "Hello, Little Girl",(звучит песня "Hello, Little Girl")Are you hearing it?(прислушивается) Later it became a hit. After a series of name changes, the group decided on The Beatles.

McCartney: Lennon was always considered the leader of the group. We all looked up to John. He was older and he was very much the leader - he was the quickest wit and the smartest and all that kind of thing.

John Lennon: Art was actually my first love. I attended the prestigious Liverpool Art Institute for three years before the Beatles became a full-time occupation. I continued to draw throughout my life.

McCartney: The Beatles were John Lennon's band, he put us together and was our cheerleader. When John Lennon shouted "Where are we going boys?" the others would reply "To the Toppermost of the Poppermost, Johnny". He was an artist with words, both for poetry and songwriting, and an excellent sketch artist.

John Lennon: Yes, I was unable to read music, and not very technically proficient, but melodies… I could see the most beautiful melodies in my head and then produce the perfect words to go with them.

Presenter 3: As we all know, his life ended prematurely and tragically in New York.

Presenter 1:Let me introduce Sir James Paul McCartney.

Presenter 2: After leaving The Beatles, Paul McCartney launched a successful solo career and formed the band Wings

McCartney: But don't forget, John, we formed one of the most successful songwriting partnerships and wrote some of the most popular music in rock and roll history.

Presenter 4: Paul McCartney is listed in Guinness World Records as the most successful musician and composer in popular music history. His song "Yesterday" is listed as the most covered song in history. (Звучит песня "Yesterday").

Presenter 5: Paul McCartney is also an advocate for animal rights, vegetarianism, and music education; he is active in campaigns against landmines, seal hunting, and Third World debt.

McCartney: My father, Jim, scraped together £15 for first a guitar for me. Yes, it was great time… We were invited to play in Woolton. It was because my friend had promised me it would be a great place to pick up girls. Later in the afternoon I borrowed a guitar and impressed the boys with all the chords and the words to "Twenty Flight Rock". (Звучит рок-н-ролльная мелодия, группа учащихся танцуют рок-н-ролл).

John Lennon: Do you remember that my first impression of you was that you were drunk? But Paul wrote down the words for "Twenty Flight Rock" and "Be Bop a Lula" for me so that I could learn them. (звучит отрывок песни"Be Bop a Lula", актеры пританцовывают, изображают, что подыгрывают на гитаре)

Paul McCartney: We took the same bus to school, and soon found we had music and guitars in common.

George Harrison: Hello, friends, I'm George Harrison. We spent many hours together at each other's homes practicing guitar. (Обращаясь к Маккартни) When you introduced the skinny and pimple-faced to the band I was only 14 at the time.

Not old enough to join the group. I hung around with the boys,(обращаясь к Леннону) and came to idolize John, doing everything I could to emulate you.

Paul McCartney: We took the same bus to school, and soon found we had music and guitars in common.

John Lennon: The first Beatles song written by you was Don't Bother Me.(звучит песня Don't Bother Me) You were a very serious musician.

George Harrison: I was always independent. I showed my independent nature at an early age, defying my school's dress code by wearing jeans and growing long hair. I had very strict parents.

Paul McCartney: (обращаясь к Харрисону) You were the youngest of the Beatles, You were private, shy and very spiritual. Throughout most of his Beatles career You were, as you called yourself, "the Economy Class" Beatle.

George Harrison: I was the most spiritual of the Beatles and after being turned onto to the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, I was the one who brought Indian music to the Beatles.

John Lennon: My first wife, Cynthia, described you as "a thin gangly kid who used to tag along with John and I, constantly being the third wheel". (все смеются)

George Harrison: I would often complain that my songs were not taken very seriously in the studio, but "Something" is called "the greatest love song of the 20th century" by Frank Sinatra. (звучит песня "Something"). The biggest break in my career was getting into the Beatles in 1963. The second biggest break was getting out of them.

Presenter 1: I think people who can live their life in music are telling the world: 'You can have my love, you can have my smiles. Forget the bad parts, you don't need them. Just take the music, the goodness, because it's the very best,' and it's the part I give most willingly.

Presenter2: Dear friends, let me offer you the Beatles Quiz. Winner will get a prize.
