Ход урока

1 Introduction

Do you like music? What Russian composers do you know?

What Italian composers do you know?

What British musicians do you know?

  1. Different composers from different countries have conquered the hearts and feelings of people all over the world.

b) Do you know what country they are from? Mach the names of a composer
and the country they are from. Учащиеся называют имена и страны из которых эти композиторы

c ) Your ideas

  • What countries do you think are internationally known as musical countries?

  • What are they famous for?

d) I'm sure you've learned a lot about the composers. Let's complete the table on the board.

3 What countries are internationally known as musical countries?

2. Tchaikovsky was the person that connected Russia with the rest of the world. Have you learned something new about the musician? Let's look. Ask any student questions in order to get information about him.

  1. What was Tchaikovsky?

  2. What was he famous for?

  3. What kind of music did he write?

What are his greatest compositions?

Report to the class as much information as you can. You can add something if you think it's necessary

3. Have you ever listened to any of the compositions of the musician that were mentioned?

  • What are they?

  • Listen to some tunes and match them with the names written on the board.

  • Mind that some names are extra.

Toscanini was a great musician. He lived in America.Once he came to a very small town.In one of the windows of a house he saw a piece of paper.He came up to the window and read:

Suddenly Toscanini heard the music."Somebody is playing Tchaikovsky", he thought."It must be Mrs Smith.She is not a very good musician.She doesn't play Tchaikovsky well.I must show her how to play it."

He went up to the door of the house and knocked.The music stopped,and in a moment a woman opened the door. 'Are you Mrs.Smith?"asked Toscanini. "My name is Toscanini,and I want to show how to play Tchaikovsky"

Mrs Smith was very happy to meet the great musician and asked him to come in.Toscanini played Tchaikovsky for her and went away.Next year Toscanini had to visit the same town again.When he came up to the house where he played Tchaikovsky, he again saw a piece of paper.Now he read:
