Topic: Appearance and body parts

Aim: By the end of the lesson the students will be able to describe the appearance of different people, while playing the game «human body» they will revise the active vocabulary

Materials: the textbook "Happy English.ru" by Kaufman M. , exercise-books, flashcards "body parts", pictures of persons, CD to the textbook , flashcards "smiles" for evaluating the pupils' work, pictures with parts of the body, a computer, the Internet connection.

Everyone wants to look great always and everywhere. That's why we'll speak how to look good and what people look like.

So, what will we discuss and do today?

Ss answers that they will discuss the appearance of a man and try to describe it.

4. Revision of active vocabulary (parts of the body).

Let's revise the words which we have already learnt.(ex.1, p.164)

Look at these pictures, listen to the speaker , repeat after him and then show all these parts of your bodies.

The game

Let's play a game. It is called «Human body».

There are eight body parts in this game. Can you match the words and pictures?

Ss try to match the words and pictures.

Ss revise the names of the parts of the body.

6.Revision of adjectives

Let's do the exercise from your textbooks. It's ex.6, page 166.

Which parts of the body do these words describe? You should complete the table in your exercise books.

The words «blonde, tall, small, big, dark, slim, short, straight, tall, black, curly, fat, green, red, blue, long» should be divided into four columns: «hair» «eyes» «body» «nose»

Ss complete the table, then they exchange their exercise-books and check each other. After checking they put marks.

7. Picture descrition

The next task will be to describe a person in the picture.

You should divide into 4 groups and describe persons in the pictures according to the plan:

Face;

Nose;

Hair;

Legs;

Arms;

Body.

Ss are divided into 4 groups, each group gets a picture of a person and describes it.

Monological speech.

The Ss in the group work all together: one pupil describes a face, the second describes a body and so on.

8. Singing a song

«The scary skeleton»

Let's have a rest and sing a very funny song. For the first time you should listen carefully to it and for the second time try to sing and show parts of your bodies.

Write down your homework Do Ex. A, B on Page 166. And don't forget to learn the new words, please.
