Speaking about Kazakhstan

Данный урок занимает центральное место в серии уроков, посвященных Казахстану. Целью урока является развитие иноязычной коммуникативной компетенции учащихся в совокупности ее составляющих при решении коммуникативных задач в рамках темы «Speaking about Kazakhstan».        При планировании данного урока учитель учитывал не только развитие основных учебных компетенций учащихся. но и воспитательный аспект обучения. Учителем также использованы такие методы как, критическое мышление, критериальное оценивание и самооценивание, что несомненно способствует повышению эффективности урока.

Тема урока" Speaking about Kazakhstan"

7 класс

Цель: развитие иноязычной коммуникативной компетенции учащихся в совокупности её составляющих при решении коммуникативных задач в рамках темы «Speaking about Kazakhstan»

Задачи урока в условиях компетентностного подхода:

Речевая компетенция:

Учащиеся смогут:

-совершенствовать коммуникативные умения в основных видах речевой деятельности - говорение, аудирование, чтение;

планировать своё речевое и неречевое поведение при решении коммуникативных задач по теме;

-развить навыки прогнозирования и оценивания информации, умение сравнивать и обсуждать факты, выражать предположение, мнение, интерес к информации по теме.

Языковая компетенция:

Учащиеся смогут:

-овладеть новыми языковыми средствами в соответствии с темой урока; увеличить объём используемых лексических единиц.

Социокультурная компетенция:

Учащиеся смогут:

-увеличить объем знаний о Казахстане на английском языке;

-совершенствовать умение строить своё речевое поведение в соответствии с темой общения;

- сформировать умения выделять общее и специфическое в культуре родной страны.

-развить умение выходить из положения в условиях дефицита языковых средств при получении и передаче иноязычной информации.

Ход урока. Procedure of the Lesson:

  1. Организационный момент. Greeting students, introduction of new theme, giving information about aims and tasks.

Good morning students! I am glad to see you! Today we are going to continue to work on the topic "Our Country" and to be more concrete - the theme of our lesson is "Speaking about Kazakhstan". We are going to work on video material, the active vocabulary, on the text. O.K. Can you tell me what are we going to do today? (Teacher checks students' understanding of the goals of the lesson)

  1. Введение в тему: работа с видеоматериалом "Welcome to Kazakhstan". Watching the video "Welcome to Kazakhstan": Students watch the video. Teacher divides the students into groups. In group the students make a cluster "Kazakhstan" and present their clusters to the class. Before starting the work students discuss the criteria they will use in assessment of the work of other groups and the work of each member of the group.

border ['bɔ:də], n. Border is a dividing line between 2 countries. The constitution ensures all the rights for the people within the borders of our country. Foreign airplanes are not allowed to cross over the border without a special permission;

border, v. France borders Germany, Kazakhstan borders Russia and China;

strong [strɔŋ], adj. She is not very strong after her illness. Dollar is stronger than tenge. He

is strong as a sportsman;

wind [wind], n. Wind is strongly moving air. Strong winds with snowballs are very often in winter;

sudden ['sʌdən], adj. "Sudden" means something unexpected. A sudden illness didn't allow him to finish his work in time;

cover ['kʌvə], v. Some cars in the yard were covered to protect them from dust. The noise was so loud that she covered her ears with her hands. The top of the mountains was covered with snow;

suffer ['sʌfə], v. Suffer means to feel keenly pain or grief or damage. He was suffering from the strong pain in his left hand. No one knows that he suffered from his mother's death;

corn [kɔn], n. Corn is very popular food in many countries. Boys and girls like to eat pop corn. Now you can buy corn flakes in many shops;

cotton ['kɔt(ə)n], n. Cotton is a type of tall plant grown in warm and hot areas. Cotton is used for making thread, cloth, cotton wool. Do you know where cotton is grown in our country? Right. It is grown in the southern part of the country;

eagle ['i:gl], n. Eagle is a very large strong meat-eating bird. Eagles fly fast and see far. Some people in our country educate the eagles for hunting. Sam watched eagle-eyed while Bill counted the money;

stripe [straip], n. African zebra looks like a horse with broad dark brown and white stripes all over the body. Tigers have orange fur with black stripes. The flag of the USA has 13 red and white stripes representing the original 13 states. You are going to cross the street. Do it on the street-crossing painted with white stripes;

frame ['freim], v. I am having this picture framed, so that I can hang it on the wall. All the windows and the door of the house were framed and painted in light blue colours;

sovereign, adj. The power of sovereign state must lie with people. Sovereign country is ruled by the president and parliament representing the people of the country;

hoist ['hɔist], n. Hoist is an aparatus for lifting heavy goods, in the text - for lifting flag.

You were born in Kazakhstan. What can you say about the geography of our country? If you are not able to say it in English say it in Russian.

б) чтение текста в группах-метод «Жигсо». Jigsaw reading.

Teacher divides the class into four groups of four students, each group reads one part of the text-A,B,C,D and discuss the text in their groups. The teacher regroups students so that in each group there's a student from group 1,2,3,4. They retell their part of the text for everyone to have the idea of the whole text.

Speaking about Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan

A.The Republic of Kazakhstan is situated in the Central Asia. The area of Kazakhstan is 2753000 square kilometres. Its population is about 16 million. The population lives mostly in towns and cities and large villages. The largest cities are Almaty, Karaganda, Shimkent, Pavlodar and Astana. Astana is the capital of the Republic. Astana is sutuated in the central part of the country. Kazakh is the official language of the country, but it is not the only language which people speak in the country. Russian and other languages are spoken here too.

B.Kazakhstan is the largest state in the Central Asia. It extends some 1900 kilometres from the Volga River in the West to the Altai Mountains in the East and about 1300 kilometres from the Siberia plain in the North to the Central Asia deserts in the South. Kazakhstan borders China, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kirgizia. There is a long border coast line on the Caspian sea in the Southwest. There are a few rivers and lakes in Kazakhstan. The four rivers are the main resources of water in the country. They are Irtish, in the east, Syr- Darya in the southwest, Illi in the southeast and Ural in the northwest of the country. The largest lakes are Balhash, Zaisan, Ala-Kol and Tengis. The flora and fauna of the country are different. They depend on the climate of the area. They are richer in the south and poorer in the north.

C.The climate of the country is strongly continental. It is cold in winter and hot in summer. Rain usually falls in spring and autumn. Snow falls in all areas but not at the same time. In the south snow falls in October or November, in the north it falls as a rule in September or October. Sudden cold winds and snowfalls in winter often cause troubles for people. In spring green grass and flowers of different colours cover flat lands and hills.

D.Kazakhstan has well-developed heavy industry in many cities and towns. As the result of the development of heavy industry the country suffers serious environmental problems. Agriculture takes a very important sector in the national economy. The people of the country grow wheat, millet, corn and cotton. As a sovereign state Kazakhstan has its own national flag and anthem and national traditions and holidays. The national flag of the country consists of a light blue field at the center of which there is yellow sun framed by the wings of a flying eagle, also in yellow, with a vertical stripe of national ornamentations near the hoist.

The Teacher explains the Home-task: to write a letter to a pen-friend about Kazakhstan.
