Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку для

средних классов:

«YOU ARE A SCHOLAR, AREN`T YOU»?

Образовательные:

Совершенствование навыков лексических, грамматических и разговорных.

Срез знаний по страноведению.

Развивающие:

Развитие творческих способностей и коммуникативных навыков, сотрудничества и умения работать в группе. Повышение мотивации в изучении английского языка учащимися.

Воспитательные:

формирование уважительного отношение к культуре и традициям стран изучаемого языка/

Учебные :

- обобщить и расширить знания учащихся ,

- продолжить формирование умений: чтение, перевод,

-высказываться с использованием заданных лексических единиц и

грамматических структур.

Развивающие:

- развивать речевую творческую активность учащихся

- развивать память и воображение посредством проведения

аналогий и сопоставлений;

- развивать эмоциональную сферу учащихся.

Воспитательные:

- способствовать расширению кругозора;

- способствовать интеграции межпредметных полей и формированию

Maintenance of the competition:

Hello, everybody! I am glad to see you today , we are going to do the best! Are we?

It's time for the competition and I wish you good luck! But first I have some questions: Have you divided into teams? Weldone! Have you choosen the leader of your team? Fine! What are the names of your teams? Introduce, please.

Let's start our competition.

At the beginning we have to remember our knowledge about English-speaking countries. What are they?

1) Now I `ve got some questions about two countries: the USA and Great Britain. Your team can choose the country. If you give the right answer- you`ll get a score. Is it clear?

1. What is the full name of the ruler of the United Kingdome? (Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor.)

2. What is the nickname of English flag? What colour is it? (The Union Jack; white, red and blue)

3. What parts does the country consist of? (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland)

4. What is the capital of The UK? (London)

5. The habitat of legendary monster. (The lake Loch Ness in Scotland)

6. Why is the year of 1666 so important for London? (It is the year of Great Fire)

7. Where is the Speaker's Corner? (In Hyde Park in London)

8. What was the name of the first English king? (Alfred the Great)

9. What is traditional food for Christmas lunch? (Fried turkey and pudding)

10. What can you say about the beefeaters? (They are 40 men who protect The Tower of London from the time of King Henry III).

12. Match the sights and the stories. We`ll describe different sights of the USA and you `ll use the cards with the numbers of sights.

1. It was built in New York Harbor in 1886. It was a gift from the people of France to America. About 12 million immigrants passed through New York when they came to America. It was the symbol of friendship between two countries. Now it is America's symbol of freedom. (3)

2. It is one of the most wonderful places of the capital of the USA. It is the part where the President of the USA lives and works and it is not open to the public. It consists of 132 rooms. You can visit the library, the Red Room, the Blue Room and the Green Room which have some fantastic old furniture. (2)

3. It is rang out in July 1776 in Philadelphia, when the Declaration of Independence was signed by Congress. It rang out at every event of national importance until it cracked in 1835. Now it is on display in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, but it never rings. It weighs over a ton and it is 12 feet wide at the bottom. (5)

4. It is the center of the theater in New York. The lights from all the theaters and advertisements are very bright. On the New Year's Eve on the 31 of December crowds of people stand in it and wait for midnight. At midnight everyone сrys, "Happy New Year!" to everyone else. (4)

5. It was made by Betsy Ross during the War of Independence on January 1, 1776. It had 7 red and 6 white stripes for the 13 American colonies, and there were 13 stars in the field of blue in the corner. Now it has 50 stars for the 50 states. But the number of stripes is the same-13. (1)
