Christmas Party

Ведущий: Dear friends! We are glad to see you here at our Christmas Party. You know that 25-th of December is a great religious holiday for many people. On that day such countries as Great Britain, the USA, France, Canada and many others celebrate Christmas. I hope you know why this holiday was named Christmas. Many-many years ago Christ was born. So this was the birthday of Christ. And since that time people began to celebrate his birthday - and named this holiday - Christmas. And as every birthday it became a good, kind, merry and bright family holiday. Not only small children but people of all age wait for this day. We hope that today at our Christmas Party you show us that you know well enough about this tradition. At your English lessons you have spoken about many Christmas traditions. People try to keep them for many years and not to forget them.

Today at our party we'll speak about some of the most popular. You know that for this day in every house, big and small squares and towns we can see Christmas tree. I think it will be interesting for you to know some more information about this tradition.

Ведущий: People began to prepare for this holiday long before. They think much about holiday dinner, about Christmas table. This is on of the tasty tradition and I am sure some of you prepared interesting material about Christmas table.

Ведущий: Now I have a question to you. Do you like presents? What do you prefer - to get or to give presents? You see, all of us are fond of presents. And it becomes more enjoyable to give or get presents in Christmas. You know that in Great Britain there is a special day for presents. I think that one of our class has interesting information about Christmas presents.

Ведущий: It's a pity that we in Russia have no such Boxing Day! It will be great to have such day every month! I advice you to listen to different English poems and carols about this tradition.

Ведущий: If Christmas is a holiday there is no one holiday without greetings. We greet each other with every holiday. We say "Happy Birthday", "Happy New Year", "Merry Christmas". There are many good and kind words to congratulate each other and wish all the best. Christmas greetings is a tradition too.

Ведущий: We want to thank all our classes for their interesting information and perfect work. You presented your homework brilliantly!

Now I want you to look at our very beautiful Christmas tree. There is no Christmas tree without decoration. We have decoration on our tree too, but they are with secrets. There are 12 beautiful toys on our Christmas tree, 2 toys for the class. Your task is to explain in English Christmas word and we try to guess.

4. In what month of the year do we work, eat and sleep least? (in February)

5. On what day of the year do children talk least? (22 of December)

Ведущий: When Christmas comes to an end we have another holiday - it is New Year. When New Year comes nearer English children make up New Year resolutions. They make up lists of things they promise to do or not to do next year. Some of the resolutions are funny, with jokes. Children, their parents read them, laugh and have a good time. I know that you prepare New Year's Resolutions too. Now let's make up our New Year resolutions.
