A Valentine

I have a little Valentine

That someone sent to me.

It's pink and red and blue,

And pretty as can be.

Forget-me-nots are round the adge,

And tiny roses too;

And such a lovely piece of lace -

The very palest blue.

And in the center there's a heart

As red as red can be!

And on it's written all in gold,

"To you with love from me!"

Presenterl. dear friends! Ladies and gentlemen! You are welcome to our party "English Poetry", dedicated to St. Valentine's Day. No one really knows the origin of it. There are many legends. According to one this day is connected with an ancient Roman Festival called Lupercalia. This was on February, 15 to honor the patron of husbandry

Presenter2. The next story tells us that St. Valentine was a priest who would marry young couples secretly when the Roman Emperor Claudius 2 forbade marriages. He believed that single man were better soldiers.

Teacher Dear friends! I am happy to see you. To begin our party we need our hearts to become alive. Our hearts must be happy and smiling. I want our hearts not to be afraid of love. It must be open to accept love and friendship. So imagine that you are designers and painters. Please, take these small hearts and make our hearts alive.

A kind priest saw the love of young couples, so he married them secretly against the

law.

But Valentine was discovered and condemned to death.

PresenterL It's a sad story. I hope Horoshenko Nataly will make us hopeful. (poem Good Night by Percy Bysshe Shelley)

Good-night? ah! no; the hour is ill

Which severs those it should unite;

Let us remain together still,

Then it will be good night.

How can I call the lone night good,

Though thy sweet wishes wing its flight?

Be it not said, thought, understood -

Then it will be - good night.

To hearts which near each other move

From evening close to morning light,

The night is good; because, my love,

They never say good-night.

Expert 2 Another legend says that Saint Valentine was a good friend of children. He was a Christian. He would not worship the Roman gods. That's why he was put into prison. While he was there the children that he had befriended missed him and brought him loving notes.

Even in prison Valentine showed his love for everyone.

His jailer had a young daughter who was blind. And Valentine performed a miracle. He cured the jailer's daughter of her blindness. Just before his death on February 14, he sent a farewell letter "From your Valentine".

Teacher. I'd like to propose you a game. "Blind Cat" there are the hearts on the board. I need 4 boys. They have to decorate these hearts. The problem is that their eyes are closed. (1 minute). The jury has to choose the best valentine. Thanks a lot you are the best designers.

We are going to listen Gulka Olesea and Kate.

Expert 3 May be that's why we exchange friendly caring messages on this day. And throughout the ages it is a day when boys and girls, sweethearts and lovers, husbands and wives, friends and neighbors, and even office staff exchange greetings of friendship, affection, and undying love.

Presenter2. This beautiful lady will tell us a poem about love for nature.

Nature by Philip Teed

The sounds of nature tells us many things.

The sounds of nature are our teachers.

The sounds of nature are so soothing

Yet they can be terrifying.

How can we say what nature is?

What do we really know about nature?

So many questions we have asked.

So many have gone unanswered.

So what does the sound of nature means?

We shall never know.

LOVE OF NATURE by John Clare

I love thee, nature, with a boundless love,

The calm of earth, the storm of roaring woods;

The winds breathe happiness wher'er I rove,

There's life's own music in the swelling floods.

My heart is in the thunder-melting clouds,

The snow-capt mountain, and the rolling sea;

And hear ye not the voice where darkness shrouds

The heavens? There lives happiness for me.

Death breaths its pleasures when it speaks of him;

My pulse beats calmer while his lightnings play.

My eye, with earth's delusion waxing dim,

Clear with the brightness of eternal day.

The elements crash round me: it is he !

Calmly I hear his voice and never start.

From Eve's posterity I stand quite free,

Nor feel her curses rankle round my heart.

Love is not here. Hope is, and at his voice ---

The rolling thunder and the roaring sea ---

My pulses leap, and with the hills rejoice;

Then strife and turmoil are at end for me,

No matter where life's ocean leads me on;

For nature is my mother, and I rest,

When tempests trouble and the sun is gone,

Like to a weary child upon her breast.

Presenterl. Whatever the odd mixture of origins, Saint Valentine's Day is now a day for sweethearts. It is the day when you show your friend or lover how much you love and care about them. You can send candies or flowers to someone you think special

Dear guests these energetic ladies have a special present for us. It's a dance.

(dance)

Expert 3 Another story tells us about St. Valentine who was a good friend to children. He was against the Roman Gods and that is why he was put in prison. When he was imprisoned the children brought him loving letters. It was on February, 14.

Presenters Ladies and gentlemen! We are going to invite Saiko Anastasia.

Teacher. It is a very sentimental holiday, which is celebrated on the 14th February by those who believe in love and friendship. Boys and girls, husbands and wives, just friends send nice cards to each other with warm greetings on the day. No one can trace origin of this European tradition, but the legend tells us a story of an Italian monk Valentine who helped young people to marry breaching thus the ruler's law. St Valentine was executed but people still remember him and celebrate this saint's day as a day of love.
