Every Englishman knows more or less the works of his country s latest poet. The last half of the 16 th century and the beginning of the 17 th century are sometimes called the age of Shakespeare.

And today our students will tell you about Shakespeare s Biography, about his family and his works. Let s start our party.

First of all about Shakespeare s life:

I student: William Shakespeare, the greatest English poet and dramatist was born on the 23rd of April, 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon in England. His father, John Shakespeare was a man of she poet s mother, Mary Arden was one of the eight daughters of Robert Arden, a rich farmer. John Shakespeare and Mary Arden lived in a well built house of stone which was two - storeyed . The house is still standing, it is a museum now. William Shakespeare was the eldest son and the third child of the marriage.

2 student: At the age of seven William was sent ti Stratford Grammar School where he studied for six years. In 1577 William s father fell into debet and had to sell the larger part of his property. William was taken from school and for some time had to help his father in the trade. He never went to school again. Little is known about William s childhood. What he did between his 14 th and 18th year is not known.

We known nothing about these five years of his life. He married A. Hathaway in 1582. And had 3 children, a boy and two girls. When William was about 21, he left for London where he had to go through many difficulties. There is a story that Shakespeare s first work in London was holding rich men horses at the theatre door. But nobody can say whether this story is true. Later , Shakespeare became an actor and soon he began to wryer plays for the company of actors to which he belonged. And in a few years he became a well - known author.

Many of his plays were acted in a London theatre called `The Globe`. Shakespeare wrote 37 plays and he is also known as the author of 2 poems and 157 sonnets.

1 student: Shakespeare spent the last years of his life in Stratford.

2 student: He was buried in the church of Stratford.

1 student: A monument was built to him in the Port ` 1 Conner in Westminster Abbey.

2 student: Shakespeare was a great humanist.

Together: He believed in man and wished to make I better for the people of his country.

Student: Thank you boys and girls! Take your sea William Shakespeare had 3 children: Susannah, Hamnit a Judith. William s father , John Shakespeare was glad th his son was married to Anne Hathaway. She was 8 years old than William. But William s mother Mary Arden didr want her son to marry so young.

Shakespeare s draught Susannah was born the next year after the marriage. Willie liked his daughter very much. Susannah was his favoring child. I want to read you Shakespeare s words ado Susannah. `Look! Susannah` s eyes are my eyes. She is goes to be as beautiful as Queen of Egypt and as clever as Kii Solomon `. From these words we can see that the great pot of England was a good father. Unfortunately, he was no 1 good husband. In 1585 Shakespeare went to London, leaved his wife and 3 children at home in Stratford.

At that time his wife was against it. His wife Am Hathaway was an old - fashioned, regions woman. And sir was 8 years older than William. The next item of our par - is small scene between Shakespeare and his wife before departure.

Scene

William: Anne, my dear! I am going to live in London, want to be an actor and to write plays.

His wife: Playing! Acting! My God! All actors are dirt; Actors drink all day ! Actors never go to church! My GoiYou are mad, Will!

William: Don`t be stupid, Anne ! You are mistaken ! You know , It is not true!

His wife: And what about our children? We have 3 small children. I see, you have forgotten about them. '

William: Anne! My dear! I shall come home when I car I Jut now I must go to London. I want to be an actor and t write plays!

His wife: My God! My God!

William: Try to understand me. Anne. Startford is too small, too slow, too quiet, too boring for me!

Teacher: Thank you! Pay attention to these words on the blackboard. Stratford was too small, too slow, too quiet, of England. Now, let`s make a little tour in Shakespeare`s places.

Small Trip to Shakespeare`s Places

Student: Stratford-on-Avon is the place where the greatest dramatist and poet of the English literature William Shakespeare was born and died.

The 23d of April is the day on which Shakespeare was born and also the day on which he died.

Stratford-on-Avon is a very interesting town in the centre of England. So Shakespeare was born in the heart of England. There are beautiful woods, green fields, lovely houses and a quiet gentle river of Avon. There are a lot of buildings which are associated with Shakespeare and his family.

Let`s make a small trip to these places.

They are:

1. Shakespeare`s birth place.

2. Anne Hathaway`s Cottage.

(the early home of Shakespeare`s wife).

3. The foundations and gardens of New Place, (where Shakespeare died).

4. Hall`s Croft (the home of his daughter Susannah).

5. Mary Arden`s House (the home of poet`s mother ).

6. The Red Brick Shakespeare Memorial Theatre.

7. And the beautiful Holy Trinity Church, (which is Shakespeare`s burial place).

1. Shakespeare`s birthday.

Shakespeare was born in the house in Henry Street preserved as him birthplace. There is the very room where Shakespeare was born. Lots of people who had visited I hi house had written their names on the walls. Among the QMMI are Walter Scott, Dickens and Thackeray.

There is a little wooden desk in one room the very desk that Shakespeare sat in when he went to the grammar school behind the house with flowers, trees and plants that are mentioned in Shakespeare`s plays.

2. New Place

When Shakespeare became successful in London he bought the biggest house in Stratford, a house called "New Place".

Now there is nothing left of it but a few bricks and the garden. The man who owned it, Mr. Gaserell, was so bad-tempered, because so many people came to see the house, that he pulled it down in 1758. That is why we have no picture of this house to show you.

3.Anner Hathaway`s Cottage

About a mile out of Stratford is Anne Hathaway1s cottage. Anne Hathaway was the woman that Shakespeare married at the age of 18. This cottage is just as in Shakespeare`s time. In 1582 when he was 18 Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, a daughter of Richard Hathaway. Anne was 8 years older than her husband and it is said than the marriage was not a happy one. In 1583 their daughter Susannah was born and in 1585 their twins named Ham nit and Judith were born. All Shakespeare`s children were born in this cottage.

4 Holy Trinity Church

The next place is Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried. There is a bust of Shakespeare that was carved by a Dutch sculptor who lived near Shakespeare`s Globe theatre , who had seen Shakespeare many times. And on the stone of Shakespeare`s grave are the lines written by Shakespeare himself .

«Good friend for Jesus`s sake forbear To dig the dust enclosed here. Blessed be the man that spares these stones And cursed be he that moves my bones! » These words written by Shakespeare himself are still be seen the place where he lies .

5 The Shakespeare Memorial Theatre is also in Stratford -on-Avon .

Shakespeare`s plays are performed for 8 months each year and thousands of people all parts of the word come to see them . Shakespeare`s 400th birthday was widely celebrated in 1964 all over the word . William Shakespeare wrote 154 sonnets. He used the sonnet from not only for the description of the beauty of the woman and of his passions, but also for the expression if his ideas. Shakespeare`s 154 sonnets cover a wide range of subjects: they are poems of love and loss, of loneliness, " devouring time" , death, and ruthless age. They often have the structure of a little drama.

Listen to them in there languages. Welcome!

SonnetCII

Tir `d with all these, for restfull death I cry,

As, to behold desert a deggar born.

And needy nothing trim` d injollity,

And purest faith unhappily for sworn,

And gilded honour shamefully, misplac`d

And maiden virtue rudely strumpeted,

And right perfection wrongfully disgrace` d

And strength by Limping sway disabled,

And folly doctor like controlling skill'

And simple truth miscall` d simplicity ,

And captive good attending captain ill.

Tir ` d with all these from these would I begone,

Save that to die, I leave my Love alone.

Student:

Shakespeare write thirty- seven plays. The plots of his plays are not original. Shakespeare took the material from old Chronicles of English history, Italian novels, pastoral romances and older plays and adapted them to his needs. Shakespeare produced a great range of characters: kings, queens, princes, courtiers, merchants, sailors, soldiers.

Shakespeare was equally successful in depicting humour and pathos writing tragedy and comedy.

Shakespeare is known as a writer of delightful comedies and historical dramas. His comedies "a midsummer Night` s Dream" "Comedy of Errors ", - are light and fraught and jingle with many rhymes.

The tragedies "Othello", "Romeo and Juliet", and "Hamlet" strike by depth of thought. His plays , translated into many languages are performed on the stages of the best theaters of the world. His ''Othello" was translated in Kazakh by M.O. Auezov.

The first of Shakespeare` s most well- known tragedies is Romeo and Juliet, known to all of civilized world as the most famous tragedy of love. The plot is based on an old Italian Romance, translated into English. Let`s see and enjoy the extract from the famous play "Romeo and Juliet" Welcome! Dear teachers and students! I think you have enjoyed the play. The students of 11.13.21 and 11.13.22 were tried you to fell the old times of Shakespeare`s world.
