The objective of the lesson: to introduce the new theme « Education in the USA».
Educational: to give students new knowledge upon new theme
Developing: to develop students speaking, reading and pronunciation skills.

1. Organization moment. (3 min.)
-Good morning, students. My name is Maria Dmitrievna. Today I will conduct your English lesson.
Be active students. If you are active, I will give you encouragement cards.
What is the date today? Today is the 14th of November.
2. Warm - up. (5 min.)
Look at the board, you can see a proverb.
I read a proverb and you listen to me.
Let's translate the proverb. Who wants to try to translate?
I read and you repeat after me. Once more.
Let's read in chorus.
Who wants to read alone?

Education in the USA
Education in the USA drastically differs from many other countries. There are 50 states in the country and each of them has its own peculiarities. So the national system varies from state to state. Nevertheless, there is a certain pattern of education in the USA, which comprises into three types of schools: public school, private elementary school and private secondary school. Only public schools are free and they have their own system in each state. Private schools, depending on the area, require a certain fee. Elementary education is available from the age of six or seven. The main school subjects at this stage are English, Arithmetic, Natural Sciences, History of the USA, Geography, Physical Training and several others. Besides learning English, many schoolchildren choose to study different foreign languages, such as French, German, Spanish, Russian, Italian etc. Children study at Elementary school till they are 16. After that, they can go to secondary school, which is also known as high school. Many high schools offer selective subjects for those students who want to enter a specific college or university after school graduation. The majority of American pupils continue their studies after school. Some go to the college, some to the university. Studying at college lasts for four years, and after that the student gets a Bachelor's degree. Studying at university may take four or more years. After four years the students also get the Bachelor's degree in Arts or Science. Some students, who wish to continue studying, go on for a Master's degree. Studying at American colleges and universities requires certain tuition fees.
Образование в США кардинально отличается от многих других стран. В стране 50 штатов, и в каждом из них есть свои особенности. Таким образом, национальная система варьируется от штата к штату. Несмотря на это, существует определенная модель образования в США, которая состоит из трех видов школ: государственная школа, частная начальная школа и частная средняя школа. Лишь государственные школы бесплатные, и у них своя собственная система в каждом штате. Частные школы, в зависимости от региона, требуют определенный денежный взнос. Начальное образование доступно с 6 или 7 летнего возраста. Основные школьные предметы на этой стадии: английский, арифметика, естественные науки, история США, география, физическая культура и ряд других. Помимо английского, многие школьники выборочно учат другие иностранные языки, например, французский, немецкий, испанский, русский, итальянский и т.д. Дети учатся в начальной школе, пока им не исполнится 16 лет. После этого они могут пойти в среднюю школу, которая также известна как старшие классы. Многие средние школы предлагают предметы на выбор для тех студентов, которые хотят поступить в определенный колледж или университет после окончания школы. Большинство американских учеников продолжают учебу после школы. Некоторые идут в колледж, некоторые в университет. Обучение в колледже длится четыре года, и после этого студент получает степень бакалавра. Учеба в университете может занять четыре года и более.
