Sub - Competences:

2.6.Maintaining a conversation on the United Kingdom, using pragmatics of turn-taking, nominating topics, expressing agreement and disagreement.

3.3.Identifying the main ideas of the text (silent reading).

3.1.Reading aloud a short fragment of an unknown text (chosen by the teacher) with appropriate fluency, stress, intonation and sense groups.

4.5.Completing a fill-in-the-gap paragraph on a suitable topic from which some words have been omitted (the words are listed below the paragraph).

Using Simple Past.

3.Identifying national currencies and some prices in English-Speaking Countries.

Operational Objectives:

  1. Knowledge - Students will be able to decode unknown vocabulary in context; will be able to speak about United Kingdom.

  2. Skills - Students will be able to hold a conversation on the topic - expressing agreement and disagreement, and will create and deliver a formal speech that will contain arguments based on sound reasoning.

  3. Attitudes - Students will form positive attitudes toward productive communication.

-Good morning, children! I think you're all fine today, aren't you?

-I want to draw your attention to the blackboard where the quotation from John Clarke is written: "He that travels far knows much". I think these words can be the motto of our lesson. How do you understand these words?

Today we will make a trip to one of the English-speaking countries. But which one?

-It's a country which looks like an island. It's not very big, but it's very beautiful. It's the country of fog and rain. There are a lot of places of interest. What country is this?

What can you imagine when you hear the words "the UK" or "Great Britain"?

-You're right. What do you know about this country?

Greet the teacher and guests.

-Good morning.

Listen. Read the quotation and say how they understand it.

The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. The flag of the UK is the Union Jack. It includes the flags of England, Scotland and the old flag of Ireland.
