Scene 1
Tom
Aunt Polly
Aunt: Tom! Tom! Where is that boy, I wonder? You, Tom!
Aunt: Well, if I get hold of you, I'll…
Aunt: There! I might have thought of that closet. What have you been doing in there?
Tom: Nothing.
Aunt: Nothing! Look at your hands! And Look at your mouth. What is that?

Tom: Do not know, aunt.

Aunt: Well, I know. It's jam- that' s what it is. Forty times I've said if you didn't' let that jam alone I' d skin you. Hand me that switch.

Tom: My! Look behind you, aunt.

Scene 2

Tom

Huck

Tom: I can lick you!

Huck: I'd like to see you try it.

Tom: Well, I can do it.

Huck: No, you can't either.

Tom: Yes, I can.

Huck: No, you can't.

Tom: What's your name?

Huck: It isn't any of your business, maybe.

Tom: Well, I'll make it my business.

Huck: Well, why don't you?

Tom: If you say much, I will.

Huck: Much, much, much. There now.

Tom: Oh, you think you are smart, aren't you? I could lick you with one hand if I wanted to.

Huck: Well, why don't you do it then? It's because you are afraid.

Tom: I' m not afraid.

Huck: You are.

Tom: I' m not.

Huck: You are.

Tom: You are a coward. I'll tell my big brother on you and he can thresh you with his little finger.

Huck: What do I care for your big brother? I' ve got a brother that' s bigger than he is and what' s more, he can throw him over that fence too.

Tom: That's a lie.

Huck: Your saying so doesn't make it so.

Tom: If you dare step over that, I'll lick you till you can't stand up.

Huck: Now you said you' d do it, now let' s see you do it.

Tom: Don' t you crowd me now. You better lookout.

Huck: Well, you said you' d do it- why you don' t do it?

Tom: For two cents I' ll do it.

Tom: Say enough! Say enough!

Huck: Enough!

Tom: Now that' ll teach you. Better look out who you are fooling with.

Huck: Next time he caught him out.

Scene 3

Tom

Jim

Ben

Tom: Jim, I' ll fetch the water if you whitewash some.

Jim: Can' t, Master Tom. Old missis told me I got to go and get this water and not stop fooling around anybody.

Tom: Give me the bucket, please, I' ll come back in a minute. She won' t know.

Tom: I have a good idea!

Ben: Hello, old chap, you got to work, hey?

Tom: Why, it' s you, Ben! I wasn' t noticing.

Ben: I' m going swimming. Don' t you wish? But of course you' d rather work, wouldn' t you?

Tom: What do you call work?

Ben: Why, isn' t that work?

Tom: Well, maybe it is, May be it isn' t. All I know, is, it suits Tom Sayer.

Ben: Oh, come now, you don' t mean to let on that you like it?

Tom: Like it? Of course. Does a boy get a chance to whitewash a fence every day?

Ben: Tom, let me whitewash a little.

Tom: No, no. I quess it would hardly do, Ben. You see, Aunt Polly' s awful particular about the fence-

right here on the street, you know. Yes, she' s awful particular about the fence; it' s got to be done

very carefully. I think there isn' t one boy in a thousand, maybe 2 thousand, that can do it.

Ben: Is that so? Oh, come now- let me just try. Only just a little- I' d let you if you were, Tom.

Tom: Ben, I' d like to, honestly, but Aunt Polly- well, Jim wanted to do it, but she wouldn' t let him. Sid

Wanted to do it and she wouldn' t let him. Now don' t you see how I' m fixed!

Ben: I' ll be very careful. Now let me try. I' ll give you the core of my apple.

Tom: No, Ben, Now don' t, I' m afraid.

Ben: Then I' ll give you all of it!

Scene 4

Tom
Sid
Tom: What a dull morning! And school again! Oh, no!
Tom: Oh,what a brilliant idea!My tooth is loose!
Tom:Sid! Sid!
Sid: Tom, Tom! What the matter?
Tom: Oh, don't ,Sid! Do not touch me

Sid: Why, what the matter, Tom? I must call auntie.
Tom :No, never mind .Don't call anybody.

Sid:But I must. Don't groan so, Tom. It's awful .How long have you been doing this way?

Tom: Hours.Ouch!
Sid: Tom, why didn't you wake me sooner? Tom, what's the matter? Tell me at last!
Tom: I forgive you everything,! Sid! Everything you've done to me.
Sid: Oh, Tom, you aren't dying ,are you?

Tom: I forgive everybody, Sid !Tell them.
Sid: Oh, Aunt Polly, come! Tom is dying!

Aunt: What's the matter, Tom? What's the matter with you, child?

Tom: Oh, aunty, I have a terrible toothache!
Aunt: Your tooth, indeed! What's the matter with your tooth?
Tom: One of them is loose and it aches me awful.
Aunt: Oh, no, don't begin that groaning again! Open your mouth Oh, well, your tooth is loose, but your are not going to die about that. Oh, Mary, get me a silk thread!
Tom: Oh, aunty, don't pull it out. It doesn't hurt me anymore. Please, aunty, don't pull it out .I don't want to stay home from school.

Aunt: Oh, so, all this row because you didn't want to go to school? Oh, you are breaking my old heart! Oh, you are breaking my old heart! Open your mouth! The dental instrument is ready!
Tom: Oh, no!
Scene 6

Teacher: Come in sir!

Thomas Sawyer!

Tom: Sir!

Teacher: Your behavior is awful.

Tom: But I stopped to talk to Huckleberry Finn!

Teacher: You: did what?

Tom: Stopped to talk with Huckleberry Finn.

Teacher: Thomas Sawyer, this is the most astonishing, confession I have ever listened to. Your, deserves punishing. Take off your jacket.

Tom: oh, no.

Teacher: Now, sir, go and sit with the girls. And let it be a warning to you.
