We want to tell you about classical music. As for me I have found classical music the closest to my soul. Most of the people of my age would think I'm a bit mad to love Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven in place of Eminem or Tamy. But I find classical music relaxing. This music has been living for centuries. It is heard in every corner of our land. Some people simply don't understand classical music, but it has a deep intellectual appeal and it creates a special spiritual world for the listener that enriches his inner life and makes him happy.

When I listen to the light classical music as to "Seasons" by Tchaikovsky, I enjoy this wonderful music. It helps me feel much better. Of course, it's difficult to find the way into serious classical music. I think, we must be taught not only to listen but to understand, which is more important. I like to play classical music. This music makes me feel like dreaming. And now I want you to listen to a peace of classical music.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born on 7 May 1840 in Votkinsk. He went down in history as a significant composer who wrote popular concertos, ballets, symphonies, operas and chamber music. Some of his works have made the list of the most famous compositions in the classical repertoire. Pyotr Tchaikovsky is considered the first Russian composer who produced a strong impression internationally.

The education of the young composer was destined for a career as a state employee but Tchaikovsky was musically precocious. In those years it was difficult to make a musical career in Russia and in addition to that there was not a system of public music education. When musical education became available Tchaikovsky snatched at a chance and entered Saint Petersburg Conservatory which was founded in 1862. In 1865 he graduated from conservatory.

Tchaikovsky's music was popular but sometimes it was subjected to criticism. Some people considered that it was not adequately representative of native musical values. Some Europeans on the contrary praised Tchaikovsky because in their opinion he could offer the music that transcended Russian classical music's stereotypes. There are still negative opinions of Tchaikovsky's work but by the end of the 20th century most of the critics appreciated him as a great composer.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky died of cholera at the age of 53 but some musicologists state that Tchaikovsky could commit a suicide.

Classical music is relaxing. This music has been living for centuries. It is heard in every corner of our land. Some people simply don't understand classical music, but it has a deep intellectual appeal and it creates a special spiritual world for the listener that enriches his inner life and makes him happy.

Let me introduce our group. We are fond of jazz. Jazz was created in the United States by black Americans. It is a mixture of many different kinds of music. It is a combination of the music of West America, the work songs the slaves sang, and religious music. Jazz bands were formed in the late 1800-s. Improvisation is an important part of jazz.

Jazz became more and more popular. Today, people all over the world play jazz. People who like jazz always remember American jazzman Louis Armstrong. And now let's listen to jazz.

Louis Armstrong

The date of his birth is not exactly knew and chose it arbitrarily - July 4, 1900 (independence Day USA). The researchers suggest that Armstrong was born in 1901. He grew up in a poor, dysfunctional family (my mother is a laundress, was engaged in illegal prostitution, father - worker-journeyman, left the family when my son was about 5 years). At the age of thirteen, during the city celebration Louis shot on the street with a pistol stolen from a policeman - one of the "visitors" to his mother. For it the boy caught in a house of correction. Here he began to study music, mastered althorn and cornet, played in the composition of the brass band and choir. After his release he returned home, got a rare earnings, played in bars with Amateur ensembles, continued to study at new Orleans musicians, periodically worked in a jazz band. In 1918 he was recommended to the band trombonist kid ory.

In 1922 he moved to Chicago, where for two years he played in Creole Jazz Band, then moved to new York, where he performed as a trumpet player and singer. In addition, he recorded the album in various jazz ensembles with many Blues and jazz vocalists. In 1925, fell again in Chicago, where he worked together with the singer Lil Hardin, with whom she married in 1924 to 1938. In 1927 led his own orchestra Hot Five. In the same period, performed a duet with Earl Hines, toured in various cities in the U.S. In 1931 came with a big band new Orleans; returning to new York, played in Harlem and on Broadway. In the 1930-ies made several tours in Europe and North Africa, which brought him fame, not only abroad but also at home.

We are going to tell you about rock. It is my music! As for me I prefer rock all the year round, because it can express all kinds of my mood. I can find a firm support in rock. Within this music I feel strength and stability. Rock music, or, rather rock-n-roll, appeared in the 1950-s. The first rock music is connected with the names of Elvis Presly, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Doors and some others.

The70-s were the time of revolution in rock music. Lead Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Black Subbath told the world about the beginning of new era of hard rock. I'd say that, of course, tastes differ and everybody is fond of particular genre of music. But I am mad about rock. And now let's listen to rock music.

I love pop music. The dictionary defines pop music as "modern popular music of a simple kind with a strong beat and not usually of lasting interest, liked especially by younger people". I think it is not difficult for understanding. It's unusual and exciting and it's the way of sharing all our hopes and fears. I like to know more and more about popular talented groups and singers I like.

I want to add that unfortunately there are so many ungifted singers on the stages that it makes me sad. I think that only talented people can claim to be singers. As for me I like new rhythms, I prefer pop music. It is probably the result of changing times and influence of mass media. Pop music unites the teenagers all over the world and makes us feel a part of global family. We can hear this music every day and everywhere. I think music is really, first of all, the background of our life, it helps us to live, and it makes our mood. Now let's listen to my favourite singer Dima Bilan.

Díma Bilán (Russian: Ди́ма Била́н, IPA: [ˈdʲimə bʲɪˈlan]; born Ви́ктор Никола́евич Бела́н, Víktor Nikoláevich Belán, 24 December 1981 in Ust-Dzheguta, Karachay-Cherkessia) is a Russian actor and pop singer . Bilan represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with "Never Let You Go", finishing second, and he won the contest in 2008 in Belgrade, with the song "Believe". He has had several Russian no. 1 hits.
