Тема: " Traveling. Asking the way. "

Цели урока:

познакомить учеников с функцией и формой тематических слов и выражений, учить учеников оперировать ими в новых ситуациях, обмениваться репликами на уровне диалогического единства, получать основную информацию из прослушанного материала;

расширять представления учеников о правилах получения информации, о традициях страны, язык которой изучают;

развивать интеллектуальную гибкость, навыки диалогической компетенции;

воспитывать понимание важности овладения иностранным языком и необходимости пользоваться им как средством общения.

Оборудование:

учебники, схема улицы "Broad street", карта Лондона;

на доске: "A plan of interview", "Match the directions with the buildings", опорные вопросы "Asking the way", mind-map "The sights of London";

раздаточный материал: "Complete the sentences", сигнальные карточки красного и зелёного цвета, задания из учебника В.М. Плахотник, Р.Ю. Мартинова, 7 класс. - К.: Освита.


Ход урока.

I. Подготовка к восприятию иноязычного материала.

1. Greeting. Приветствие.

T: Good morning boys and girls.

I'm very glad to meet you!

I hope we'll have good lesson together. Real gentlemen begin their talks by discussion of weather, so, Bogdan, do you like today's weather?

T: It was quite difficult to get to school today. I had to get up very early and got ready. I had to take a bus. It was crowded with people. Oh! I'm so tired. But it took me about 15 minutes and after that I got off the bus and went on foot. And I had lost. Yes, yes. I had to ask the way. But, what about you?

  • When do you get up to come to school in time?

  • Do you go to school on foot or by bus?

  • Do you know the town you live in very well?

2. Aim. Сообщение темы и целей урока.

T: So I think it is very useful to know how to ask the way. And the topic of our lesson is: "Traveling. Asking the way."

By the end of the lesson you'll be able to:

  • exchange the information on the basis of the text and a given situation;

  • ask the way and explain the right direction.

3. Warming up. Введение в иноязычную атмосферу.

T: Are you ready?

We start with an auction. I'm going to sell the words on the topic "Traveling" by auction. You should to say a word or a word combination on the topic "Traveling". One, two, three.

II. Основная часть урока.

1. Check on homework. Контроль домашнего задания.

Упр. 32, стр. 68. Translate into English. (Два ученика делают синхронный перевод упражнения.)

T: If the sentence is true show the green card. If it is false show the red card.

2. Oral practice. Активизация лексического материала.

А. T: Then open your text books. Use the text in the following work, please. Agree or disagree.

* Traveling is very popular nowadays.

* The fastest way of traveling is by car.

* You can see the country you're traveling through.

* There are sleepers and dining-cars in passenger trains.

* Traveling by car is popular for business trips.

* Traveling means getting about town too.

* Getting about town you may use a plain, a boat.

* Tram, trolley-buses and buses stop to pick up passengers at special stops.

* Sometimes you have to change trams, buses or trolley-buses.

B. Oral practice. Интервьюирование.

T: Now you should work in pairs. Interview your friend and give some information about him/her.

A plan of interview:

1. Do you like traveling?

2. What is your favorite way of traveling?

3. Why do you like traveling by …?

So what have you found out?

T: Children, let's go to London. How we can get there?

It can be useful to know the parts of the body during the trip. Different situations can be happen.

Sit down.

So we are in London.

T: Do you remember the names of the places of interest in London? Let's refresh them by making up "Mind Map" and giving the definitions:

1) Houses of Parliament is the seat of British government. It is a very large Gothic building. It stands on the left bank of the river Thames.

2) The Tower of London is London's oldest landmark. It served as a fortress, a palace, a zoo, a royal mint and a prison. Today it is a national monument and museum.

3) Westminster Abbey is one of the oldest buildings in London and one of the most religious canters in the country. Many kings and queens and famous people are buried there.

4) London Bridge is one of the oldest stone bridges in Great Britain. In the old days it was very narrow, because on the both sides of the bridge there were shops, houses and even a church.

5) Big Ben is the name of huge clock on the Clock Tower of the Houses of Parliament.

6) Buckingham Palace. It is the London home of the Queen.

7) Piccadilly Circus is the meeting point of six streets. It's famous for its brightly lit neon advertisements at night.

8) St. Paul's Cathedral is the most famous church in London. It serves as the centre of the Church of England in London.

C. Role-play. Работа с картой-схемой.

T: Pretend to be a tour guide about London. Which 5 interesting places will you show the visitors?

* Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to our round London sightseeing tour. We're in Piccadilly Circus now and we're turning left into Regent Street.

* We're going along White Hall. On the left you can see Horse Guards Parade. Straight ahead is Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square.

* Now we're going towards the City of London. Straight ahead you can see St. Paul's Cathedral. It was built in the 17th century by Sir Christopher Wren.

* Now we are going over Tower Bridge. We're going away from the City of London. Behind us you can still see the walls of the Tower of London.

* Now we're going over Waterloo Bridge. On the left you can see the Houses of Parliament and on the right you can see the City of London.

III. Заключительная часть урока.

1. Homework. Домашнее задание. Ex. 28, p. 67 - to read and retell the story "Where is my ticket?"

2. Summarizing. Подведение итогов урока.
