Цель: Виртуально познакомиться с достопримечательностями Лондона, уметь называть, различать и знать особенности каждой из них.

Задачи:

• Создать условия для употребления лексики по теме;

• Собрать и изучить информацию о музеях Лондона: "Музей мадам Тюссо", "Музей Шерлока Холмса", "Музей Науки"

• Научиться отвечать на вопросы о путешествиях , поездках и достопримечательностях.

• Провести практику аудирования по теме

It is one of the most famous sights of London. It`s famous waxworks museum, which has one of the largest collections of wax models in the world. It was founded in 1830 by Marie Tussaud. Marie Tussaud (1761-1850) was born in France. She learned the fine art of sculpting and the art of wax modeling. The museum is situated in Marylebone Road.

There's usually a long queue in front of the museum. No wonder! Many tourists would consider their trip to London worthless if they didn't visit the famous Madam Tussaud's. There are several halls at Madam Tussaud's. Highlights include the Grand Hall, the Chamber of Horrors and "The Spirit of London" exhibition.

Here you can "meet" famous people: actors, film stars, pop singers, sportsmen, writers, poets, and scientists come face to face with famous politicians. The wax figures are standing and sitting, and sometimes even moving and talking. They are extremely realistic and when they look at you, their eyes sparkling, you often feel uncomfortable in their company. Computer controlled figures are especially popular with the visitors. You can even take photos with them.

In the museum there is a special place for the Queen`s family: the Queen and the other members of the Royal Family.

You can also take a trip back in time. London`s famous black taxi will drive you through some historical and cultural events.

So if you want to meet kings and queens or the latest pop stars, or probably notorious criminals, this is the place to go.

In the 1880s a young doctor sat waiting for new patients who never came. To pass the time, he wrote stories about a very clever detective. These stories were so popular that the doctor decided to give up medicine and become a writer instead. The doctor was Arthur Conan Doyle and his popular character was Sherlock Holmes.

This museum is at 221b Baker Street in London. It`s a house where Holmes and Watson lived in Arthur Conan Doyle`s book.

The museum was opened at 221b Baker Street in 1990. 221b Baker Street is the most famous address in the world and people have been writing to it for more than 100 years. Many people ask if Mr. Holmes can help them with their problems, such as finding a missing relative or a pet. Greeting cards arrive at Christmas and on Holmes' birthday (he was born on January, 6th).

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote 4 novels and 56 stories about the famous detective and his friend.

The rooms in the museum are kept exactly as in the books. The Sherlock Holmes' Museum is unlike other museums. Very little here is locked up in glass cases. Visitors can sit in Mr Holmes`s armchair by the fireplace, put on his famous cap, hold his pipe, and see his violin. They can also visit Dr Watson`s room.

If you are interested in detective stories, if you would like to meet Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, visit the museum and buy souvenirs in the shop!

It`s one of the most popular of London`s museums. It was founded in 1857. The Science Museum now holds a collection of over 300,000 items. The main building has seven floors; each floor contains galleries with different scientific topics. Due to the museum's size it is difficult to see everything in one day.

There are the "hands-on" galleries where every exhibit is an experiment or demonstration to try for yourselves. There are the Exploration of Space, Land Transport, Ships, the Science and Art of Medicine and many others.

The Science Museum is worth visiting because it is famous for its big collections of airplanes, cars, computers, microchips, robots. There are many interesting exhibitions and special activities for children and adults.

Visitors can learn a lot about modern science. They take an active part in experiments and meet face to face with the future.

Visitors can spend an amazing "Science Night" in the museum, and take part in interesting experiments, see science films and nature documentaries in IMAX 3D. Tourists can buy beautiful souvenirs. The museum is free.
