Teacher: Good morning, my dear friends! How are you today? I am very glad to see you here at our lesson which is devoted to the topic "What school do you go to?" The aim of our lesson is to sum the material about British schools up and be ready to speak about schools in that country.

Today we are going to watch a film about schools in Britain but before it let's review the words from our list.

  1. Активизация лексики по теме.

  • Take your books and open p.95. Read the words in pairs to each other.

  • Now let's work with the text and read and translate the sentences with bold words in order to recollect the information about British schools.

  • And the next task is checking the sentences with gaps according to the text. Ex1(2) p.95

  1. Подготовка к просмотру видеофильма.

Teacher: Before watching the film, look here at some words at the board. (слова, которые могут вызвать трудность выписаны, на доску и объяснены учащимся перед просмотром)

GCSE examination independent The John Mason School

'A' level exam a boarding school

"

Teacher: After watching, you are going to do some tasks, that's why be very attentive and try to remember as much as possible.

11 30% 20% 9 am

22 92%First of all pay attention to these numbers. What information do they stand for?

  1. Просмотр видеосюжета. Now we are ready to start. Учащиеся начинают смотреть фильм. Сюжет начинается с вопросов, которые адресованы зрителю: «Do you go to school on Saturdays?, Do you wear a uniform?, Do you like school?». Сразу делаю паузу и прошу ребят ответить на эти вопросы.

  1. Работа по заданиям после просмотра фильма.

Task 1. What do these numbers stand for?

At 11 students go to a secondary school.

30% of students leave school at the age of sixteen. 20% - go to universities.

School starts at 9 am.

There are usually about 22 students in a secondary school class.

In Britain 92% of schools are state schools which are free.

Task 2. True/ false statement. Put 'T' if the statement is true, 'F' if it is wrong. (Задание на карточках, работают индивидуально)

Students go to secondary school at the age of 12.

50 % of British students leave school at 16.

The most popular foreign language to study is German.

All students go home for lunch.

They do different after-school activities.

Students wear a uniform in all schools.

Parents have to pay for their children's education.

Task 3. Answer the questions.

At what age do British children go to school?

What exams do they take?

When do the lessons begin?

How many students are there in the primary school class?

What foreign languages do they usually study? What other classes do they have?

What do students usually do after classes?

How many independent schools are there in Britain?

(После выполнения выше описанных заданий, можно просмотреть фильм еще раз)

  1. Повторный просмотр видеосюжета.

Teacher: Watch the film for the second time; be ready to tell about British schools. In the end of the film as you have seen British children express their opinions. Write down their ideas.

So first, somebody will tell us what he or she have learnt.

Example. In Britain 92% of schools are state so they are free, 8% are private schools where parents pay for education. British children go to school at the age of 5. At 11 students go to a secondary school. They stay at school until they are 16 and 30 % of them leave school. Others study at school for two more years. And 20% of students go to a university. In most schools children start their day at 9 am and they go to school from Monday to Friday. There are about 22 students in a secondary school class and about 27 in a primary school class. Students study different subjects such as Math, History, Art, Geography, Science, Religion, foreign languages. Popular languages are French, Spanish, Italian. During the break students can go home or eat in a canteen. After classes at 4 o'clock they take part in different activities.

  1. Составление мини-диалогов в паре, используя ответы британских детей о школе и восстанавливая вопросы, которые им могли быть заданы.

Teacher: Now you have some minutes to think it over and make up a short dialogue about what you like and dislike at school.

Example.

P1: Hello.

P2: Hello.

P1: What are your favourite subjects at school?

P2: As for me, I like PE and History. And what do you think about homework?

P1: I hate homework but I like having lunch in our school canteen. And you?

P2: Actually, I don't like food at school. I prefer eating at home.

P1: Thank you, bye.

P2: Bye-bye.

  1. Заключительный этап. Рефлексия. Подведение итогов урока.

Teacher: Now I'm sure you will remember everything we've learnt today. Thank you for your participation and creative abilities. Did you like our lesson? Why? What marks can you give to each other?

Thank you very much for your work, I am satisfied with it completely. The lesson is over. Good bye.
