Scene I "Jane's first day at Lowood School".

Miss Temple.)

-Miss Temple: - Good morning, girls.

Girls: - Good morning, Miss Temple.

Miss Temple: - Sit down, please. I want to speak to all of you. I know that you couldn't eat your breakfast this morning.

Girls: Thank you, Miss Temple.

Miss Temple: - Are you a new girl at school.

Jane: - Yes, my name is Jane Eyre.

Miss Temple: - Glad to meet you, Jane and welcome to our school.

Jane: - Thank you, Miss Temple.

Jane: (осторожно прикасаясь к Helen) what is your name?

Helen: I'm Helen Burns.

Jane: Is your book interesting?

Helen: I like it.

Jane: Does the school belong to Miss Temple?

Helen: No, it doesn't. It belongs to Mr. Brocklehurs. He buys all our food and all our clothes.

Jane: Have you been here for long?

Helen: 10 years

Jane: Are you an orphan?

Helen: My mother is dead, my father remarried again. And yours?

Jane: My mum and dad died when I was 5. I had to live with a cruel aunt and 3 cousins. My cousins were alder than I and they never wanted to play with me. They were often unkind and I was afraid of them. Are you happy here?

Helen: You ask rather too many questions. I want to read.

Jane: I'm sorry…

Scene II "Proposal"

Mr Rochester: Jane, come and talk to me. Are you happy here?

Jane: Yes, I am very happy, sir.

Mr Rochester: And you love little Adele and Mrs Faifax. What a pity that you have to leave!

Jane: Must I?

Mr Rochester: I am sorry Jane, but I suppose so.

Jane: Then.., you are going to get married.

Mr Rochester: Yes, Adele must go to school and you must get a new job. I will try to find a place for you, may be in Ireland.

Jane: It's far from here! But then I will never see Thornfild again and … and I will never see you again, Mr Rochester.

Mr Rochester: You will soon forget me.

Jane: No, you will forget me perhaps, but I will never forget you.

Mr Rochester: We have been good friends, Jane haven't we?

Jane: Yes, sir.

Mr Rochester: I shall miss you a lot. When I am with you I have a strange feeling for you - I feel close to you. Perhaps, you can stay here when I'm married?

Jane: No. I could never stay. Miss Ingram… Miss Ingram will be your wife. I know> I am not rich and beautiful like Miss Ingram. I am poor and unimportant. But do you think I have no heart? You are wrong!

Mr Rochester: I don't want you to do, Jane. And I'm not going to marry Miss Ingram. I want you to stay here. It's you, I want to marry.

Jane: Are you laughing at me, Mr Rochester?

Mr Rochester: No, I am not. Do you doubt me, Jane?

Jane: Totally.

Mr Rochester: I love you! Will you marry me?

Jane: But I have no friends and no money Mr Rochester, let me look at your face! Do you really love me? Do you sincerely want me to be your wife?

Mr Rochester: I do. I swear it.

Jane: Then, sir, I will marry you!
