Kazakhstan geography overview

Travelers of various times and from various countries had often described Kazakhstan as a land of deserts and vast semi-desert steppes. However, this is not so. Most foreign travelers saw only the southern part of Kazakhstan land that borders on the great deserts of Central Asia, across which lay the old caravan routes linking the trading centers in the West and the Orient.

True, there was little along those routes to catch the inquisitive eye of the traveler except takyrs, or clay beds of dried-up steppe lakes, and barkhans or sand dunes interspersed here and there with patches of oases.

The Climate in Kazakhstan

The best time to visit Kazakhstan is spring between April and June or autumn in September to October. Flowers come out of the deserts in spring time while autumn is harvest time when you can find abundant fresh fruits in market places. Temperatures during these periods are mild, unlike in winter when it is very cold or summer when it is very hot. While July is the hottest month, January is the coldest. The average temperature in winter is -16° to -18°C (3° to 7°F) in the north, and -6° (21°F) in the south, while the average summer temperature is 21°C (70°F) in the north, and 27°C (81°F) in the south. The highest monthly average high temperature for the hottest month of July is 30°C (86°F), and the lowest monthly average low temperature for the coldest month of January is -12°C (10°F).

It is important to note that climate in the country varies from region to region. This is because of its vast land area which consists of more than one million square miles. If, for instance, there is still snow in the northern regions, it is sowing time in the south, where apricots are filled with blossoms hundreds of miles of away. If you are a mountain climbing buff, you can visit the country in summer when mountain temperatures will be fair to you. In November, however, when snow begins to fall, mountain passes and peaks will be filled with snow, which begin to melt in April.

Climate is monitored in seven climate stations including Kanaganda, Kzyl-orda, and Pavlodar. Their climate statistics show that the country has an average 581mm (22.9 inches) of rainfall per year, or 48mm (1.9 inches) per month, with 23mm (0.9 inch) of rainfall across six days in August.

I want to tell you about my homeland. My homeland is Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is an independent Republic. It is situated in the Central Asia. Its population, is 16 million. All people of Kazakhstan have equal rights and duties. Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan. The territory of Kazakhstan is huge. It borders on China in the East and the Caspian Sea in the West, Russian in the North and the states of Asia in the South. The republic occupies the territory of more than 2 million square kilometers. . Kazakhstan has 14 regions, 84 cities.

The earth of Kazakhstan is full of iron and gold, coal, nickel and raw materials. Also Kazakhstan is rich in mineral resources. These reserves formed a solid base for the development of heavy industry. The leading branch of agriculture is the production of wheat, sheep rising, and horse breeding. Kazakh-is the official language of the country, but Russian and other languages are spoken here too. Kazakhstan has hundreds of nationalities that's why all people speak their native language.

Great attention is paid to the development of culture and education the Kazakhstan University, the Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abai Kunanbayev are well known.

There are many big industrial centers in Kazakhstan such as Karaganda, Almaty, Semey, and Shymkent.

Kazakhstan is the place where space dreams and projects have come into reality. The name of Baikonur is known all over the world. We are proud of Kazakhstan and hope it will have a great future. Our president now is Nursultan Nazarbayev. The president is elected every seven years.

The climate is strongly continental. KZ- has its own flag, anthem and national traditions and holidays. I think the most important holiday in our country is- Nayris. The Day of Republic is on the 25th of October. I'm proud of my country.
