Granny: Look at this photo. When I was five I had long hair. I was very shy and quiet.

Emily: Were you afraid of the dark?

Granny: Yes, I was. Most children are afraid of the dark. I was also afraid of ghosts. And thunder, and lightning.

Emily: I'm afraid of spiders and sharks. Adam says that's not normal.

Granny: Fiddlesticks… People are different, so what? May be he is afraid of skeletons or dentists…That's normal…

Emily: Did your parents have any animals?

Granny: Yes, we had a white cat called Fluffy, some chicks, ducks and pigs in the back garden. I loved all baby animals.

Emily: Did you have a secret hiding place?

Granny: Yes. It was in a tree. I liked sitting on a branch and reading stories there… I loved stories. Do you want to hear one?

Plans for summer

• Summer holidays are near. I am so happy.

• Yes, they are. What are you going to do on holidays?

• My parents, my brother and I will go to the seaside. We often go to Bournemouth. So I think we shall go there this summer.

• Oh, Bournemouth is nice. Where are you going to stay, in a hotel?

• No, we usually stay in a house near the sea because my Mum doesn't like staying in a hotel.

• Have you got your own room in that house?

• Yes, I have. It's not very big but it's OK.

• What is your brother going to do on holidays?

• Oh, he is going to go fishing and find some friends to play football with. He doesn't stand at home much. He is for sure will hang around with his friends all day and once go with us to the beach.

• Does your father usually go with you to the beach?

• Sometimes does, but he often rides a bicycle. I think he will rent a boat and will ski on water. It will be fantastic. Where are you going for your holidays?

• My Dad is going to take me to Brazil where my uncle lives. It's winter in Brazil at that time, so I'll swim in the swimming pool. We are going to travel around Brazil too. I think it will be interesting.
