Тема урока: Places of interest in London and Moscow

Цели урока:

Учебная - закрепление в речи новых лексических единиц по теме;

обучение учащихся монологическим мини-высказываниям;

Развивающая - развитие интереса к учебно-познавательной деятельности на уроках иностранного языка;

Воспитательная - развитие умения учебного сотрудничества при выполнении коллективных проектов;

Познавательная - знакомство с достопримечательностями России и Великобритании; расширение страноведческого кругозора

Оборудование: раздаточный материал (карточки), презентация учителя и учащихся, аудиозапись песни «The more we are together »

Ход урока

I. Оргмомент

Good morning, children! I'm glad to see you. How are you? (I'm fine. We are glad to see you too! We are fine).

II. Речевая зарядка

Let's start our adventure. Today we are not at the lesson. We are at the International Explorer's Club. We have 2 teams. One group of students is from the United Kingdom and another group is from Russia. Today we'll speak about two capitals - London and Moscow. Let's introduce ourselves. I am the head of the club.

Example: My name is… (I am …). I'm from Russia (Moscow). I'm from the UK (London).I'm eleven (twelve) years old.

Thank you, children. But I suppose, you want to know about each other more. Ask questions to each other and answer them. Who will come here?

Children, you are from different countries. I'm sure you would like to learn more about the United Kingdom and Russia, about London and Moscow. To understand each other we need some words. So, it's time to practice vocabulary. You will work in groups. Choose the colour and change your places. You will have 5 minutes to write the missing sounds.

VII. Монологическая речь. Аудирование

Now we are ready to make a small excursion to our capitals: London and Moscow. Students from London (Moscow), can you speak about London (Moscow)? - Yes, of course. Come to the blackboard. All others listen to them very attentively and be ready to put the tick in your cards if you hear about it. (Учащиеся ставят галочки в таблице напротив слов, о которых идёт речь в рассказах).

1. London is the capital of the UK. It's a beautiful city. It's one of the most famous and interesting cities in Europe. There are lots of places to visit in London: museums, Art galleries, theatres. There are also lots of cinemas, stadiums and parks in London. It's a mixture of old and new buildings.

2. The Houses of Parliament stand beside the river Thames. The country's leaders speak at this place. You can see the Houses of Parliament from Westminster Bridge.

3. Big Ben stands near the Houses of Parliament. It is really a bell. It has a deep tone. You hear it every hour. It is a famous clock.

4. Westminster Abbey is a symbol of England. It is not far from the Houses of Parliament. It was founded by St. Peter and built by King Edward in 1065. Some famous people are buried there.

5. The Tower of London is very old. It has a long and cruel history. It is not one building. You can see it from the river Thames. Many years ago British Queens and Kings lived in this place. Now it is a museum.

6. Trafalgar Square is a central square in London. In Trafalgar Square there is a monument to Admiral Nelson. There is also the National Gallery.

7. Moscow is the capital of Russia. It's a beautiful city too. Moscow is different from London. It has a long history. In Moscow you can see green parks and squares, stadiums and cinemas. There are a lot of different museums, theatres and Art galleries. Many tourists come to Moscow every day.

8. The Kremlin is the heart of Moscow. There are some old buildings and museums there. You can see towers and the Kremlin walls. Our President Vladimir Putin works in the Kremlin.

9. Spasskaya Tower is one of the towers in the Kremlin. It is a symbol of Russia. It has a ruby star. It also has a bell. You can hear it every hour.

10. Red Square is near the Kremlin walls. It is the main square of the city. You can see St. Basil's Cathedral. It is a monument to Russian architecture. Tourists like to come here.

11. The Tretyakov Gallery is one of the biggest art galleries. It has about 50000 works of art. They are paintings, graphics and sculptures.

12. Arbat Street is in the center of Moscow. It has a lot of shops. Many tourists visit it every day. They listen to music and buy souvenirs.

We are from different countries, but we are friends, aren't we? Yes, we are. Let's sing a song about friendship together. Запись песни на магнитофоне. Дети вместе с учителем поют песню.

IX. Домашняя работа.

Write down your home task. You should write a composition about London or Moscow. Say some words about these cities, about places of interest. Explain why do you want to visit them. Your composition will consist of 50-70 words including articles and prepositions.

Look at the blackboard. There is an example of the composition. Let's read it. By the way, fill in the words in the correct form.
