Aims: Introduction with traditions of celebrating Christmas in Great Britain.
1. Expansion of an outlook of pupils on a regional geographic material;

2. Education of respect for culture, to traditions and customs of the people of other countries;

I am very glad to see you today. Our party is devoted to the most interesting, the most important, the most beautiful, and of course, the most favourite holiday among all people all over the world - Christmas!
There are many Christmas traditions in different countries, but today we shall speak about Christmas traditions in Great Britain.
I invite my partners, Sanya and Kamshat. They'll tell you about Christmas traditions In Great Britain.

You are to write a letter to Santa Claus. You have some pictures in the letter instead of words. You must put all picture-words into the plural .To help you, you can find all the words in their singular form below. You have 5 minutes for your work.

Contest III "Christmas tree"

Teacher : We decorated our room, we wrote the letter to Santa Claus and greeting cards to friends and now we can decorate our Christmas tree.

Contest ІV "Advent calendar"

Advent calendars are very popular in December. You can count the days from the 1st of December to the 25^th of December - Christmas day using this calendar. Every day you open a window and find a picture. Inside of every window you also can find a sweet, a small chocolate, or may be a toy.
We suggest you to take part in the contest "Advent Calendar". The winner will be a team that has more symbols than the other one.

You are to go to the Calendar, open one of the windows, and name the picture . If your answer is right, you get a special symbol.

Contest V "The more the better"

Our next contest is "the more, the better". I give you word - phrase "Christmas tree " and 5 minutes to make up as many new words as possible. Then one representative from each team will read the words one by one. You mustn't repeat words. You have only 5 minutes for your work.

Contest VI " Greeting cards "

In Great Britain there is a tradition to congratulate relatives, friends, colleges on Christmas. Usually people buy a lot of different greeting cards with Christmas symbols. We suggest every team to congratulate each other by greeting cards.

I have two greeting cards. I'll give them to you and you are to congratulate your friends on Christmas . Then you are to cut your cards into 10 sections and put them into the envelope and send to the other team. It's the first part of our contest.

You have only 5 minutes for this work

The second part of the contest is to make up a card and read the congratulation of your friends from other team.
