His father, John Shakespeare, was a merchant and he had several houses in Stratford. His mother - Mary Arden was a farmer's daughter. There were 8 children in their family. William was the third child.

(Слайд 4) He went to the grammar school in Stratford. At school he studied grammar, logic and Latin, but he was educated more by the people and nature about him than by teaching at school.

(Слайд 5). In 1582, when William was only 18, he married Anna Hathaway, a woman 8 years older then himself.

(Слайд 6) They had three children: Susanna and the twins Hamnet and Judith.

Three years later the young Shakespeare, who had already 3 children, went to London because he wanted to be an actor.

(Слайд 7) The first Shakespeare's job in London was holding rich men's horses at the theatre door. Later William Shakespeare became an actor and a member of the big acting company. He worked as an actor. But his friends and he did not have their own theatre that is why in 1599 they built a theatre and called it «the Globe». It was round. There was no roof on this building.

(Слайд 8) There was a sign on its main door: «All the world is a stage». His dream became true. He acted only small parts, but his experience as an actor helped him greatly in the writing of his plays. His knowledge of the stage and his poetical genius made his plays the most wonderful ones ever written.

He started writing his own plays for this company - Lord Chamberlain's Men. His plays were performed in this theater. In a few years he became a well-known author. He wrote about 37 plays for the theatre: tragedies, comedies and historical plays. So the most famous tragedies are (Слайд 9) "Romeo and Juliet", (Слайд 10)"Anthony and Cleopatra", "Hamlet", "King Lear", "Othello", "Macbeth". The most popular comedies are "All's Well that Ends Well", "Twelfth Night", "Midsummer Night's Dream", "As you like it", "Much ado about nothing". "Henry IV" and "Richard II" are historical plays about the past of England.

The last years of his life William Shakespeare lived in Stratford.
