Now, tell me, do you like swimming, Danil?

Do you prefer swimming in the swimming pool or in the sea?

Raise your hands those, who also like swimming in the swimming pool.

So many of you! But should we remember of the safety while being in the swimming pool, Nastya?

And do you know any rules of safety?

It's true. But there are some more rules you should follow and today, we are going to learn the rules of the safe behavior in the swimming pool.

Open, please, your Student Books at page 63. Look at the pictures on this page. Every little picture contains a rule of safety. Can you guess by now what rules do they demonstrate? I want you to examine them and discuss with your partner. You have 3 minutes for this.

Now, read the title, Nikita.

How would you translate it?

Great!

Read the introduction of the text, Danil.

Good.

Here we see a new word - guide. Repeat after me - guide.

I'll give you an explanation of this word and you will try to translate it.

"It is something that gives us some instructions to explain how to do something".

What's the Russian for "guide", Polina?

You are absolutely right!

So, we are going to listen to a sort of a guide.

Now, look at the blackboard. Here you see some pictures and new words.

The first is "to slip". Repeat altogether, "to slip". Look at the picture, the man slips and is going to fall. Can you guess translation of this word, Sahsa?

Great!

The second word "danger". Repeat altogether - danger.

Look at the sign. Have you seen it somewhere, Polina?

What it tells us about?

You're right.

So, how to translate this word?

Good!

Next words are "stomach cramps".

Repeat all together - stomach cramps. Look at the picture. The man holds his belly and feels the pain. The word cramp is translated like «спазм», and "stomach" like «желудок». So how will you translate the whole expression, Sonya?

Absolutely!

The next word is "sign".

Repeat all together - sign.

In this picture we can see lots of road signs. How to translate the word "sign", Nastya?

Right.

The next expression is designated areas.

Repeat all together - designated areas.

Look at these two pictures. On the first picture we see people swimming in the lake. It is a designated area for swimming. On the other people are not allowed to do it and there is a special sign. It's not a designated area for swimming, they can't swim here.

Can you guess the translation of this expression, Nikita?

The last word is "to display".

Repeat all together - to display.

Look at the picture. The man is showing pictures to his friend. He displays them.

How will you translate this word, Sasha?

Right you are!

Look at the ex. 3. Read the task, Eugene.

Here you have headings and you are to match them with parts of the text.

But first, let's discuss unfamiliar words you can meet in the task.

Find the word dive-bombing. It consists of two words "dive" which is familiar to you and "bombing".

Can you guess its meaning, Danil?

Correct!

Find the word "obey". It's an act of doing what someone tells you to do, or what a rule says you must do. Do you know, how to translate it, Nikita?

Right. Do you obey your parents, Danil?

Here we have another word that we can divide into two parts - lifeguard. Guard is someone who protects somebody or something. And lifeguard is someone who protects people's lives. Who guessed its translation?

Look at the word "push". It's a verb and it means to make someone or something move by pressing them with your hands. How will you translate this word, Polina?

That's right.

Now, Sasha, read and translate the first heading, please.

Great job!

Eugene, read and translate the second heading, please.

13:39

(10 мин.)

So, let's listen and match the headings with the text.

Let's check.

Read a heading and match it with a rule.

Nastya, start please.

Why shouldn't we eat before swimming?

Right you are.

Sonya, continue, please.

Why should we follow the rules?

Exactly!

Eugene, continue, please.

That's right. Read the next.

Is there a place we can dive in a swimming pool?

That's right.

Go on, Nikita.

Why shouldn't we run in the swimming pool?

Absolutely!

Read the next, Polina.

Why shouldn't we dive bomb in the swimming pool?

That's correct.

Continue, Danil.

Why should we obey lifeguards?

Well done!

Sasha, please, read the last heading.

Why is it so important not to push in the swimming pool?

That's true.

Now, read the text and match extracts with pictures.

Let's check.

Eugene, will you read answers? And others are to check their answers.

Absolutely correct!

Do you have any questions concerning this text?

I hope, you will remember these rules and keep safe while swimming.

-Don't swim after eating. It's number 3.

It can lead to stomach cramps.

-Follow the rules. It's number 7.

We should follow the rules to be safe while swimming.

-No glass bottles. It's an extra heading.

No diving. It's number 5.

We can dive only in designated areas.

-Don't run. It's number 1.

We shouldn't run in the swimming pool, because the floor is wet and we can slip.

-No dive-bombing. It's number 6.

We shouldn't dive-bomb, because we can put other swimmers in danger.

-Obey the lifeguards. It's number 4.

We should obey lifeguards, because they care about our lives.

-No pushing. It's number 2.

It's important, because some people can't swim and we can put them in danger.

Грамматический материал.

(opposite adjectives)

13:49

(10 мин.)

Is it possible or impossible for you to follow the rules of safe behavior, Sasha?

Are the rules logical or illogical for you, Polina?

As you see, there are some adjectives with unusual prefixes like impossible or illogical with prefixes -im and -il. Let's compare these two pairs - logical-illogical, possible-impossible. Are they opposite, Sonya?

We are going to learn some pairs of opposite adjectives.

Open your Student Books at page 61 and look at the ex. 5. Here you can see a table.

Try to form opposite adjectives using these prefixes.

Let's check.

Polina, please, read what you have.

That's right!

There is no special rule of forming an opposite adjective. Usually we use a prefix -un like in words unbelievable, unbalanced, and unforgettable. But sometimes we should use prefixes -il, -ir, -im and -in.

So your task is to learn these adjectives by heart and now write them down.

Now, divide into two groups.

The first group gets cards with prefixes -im and -ir. The second with -il, and -in. Every group will get a list of adjectives and you need to choose only those which form opposites with prefixes your group has. Is the task clear?

You have 5 minutes for this task.

The first group, read pairs of adjectives you've chosen.

That's correct!

The second group, read words you've chosen.

Absolutely right!

-It is possible for me to follow the rules of safe behavior.

-They are logical for me.

.

-Yes, they are.

-Logical-illogical, responsible-irresponsible, believable-unbelievable, possible-impossible, active-inactive, balanced-unbalanced, forgettable-unforgettable.

Possible-impossible, mobile-immobile, perfect-imperfect;

Responsible-irresponsible, rational-irrational.

Logical-illogical, literate-illiterate;

Active-inactive, sane-insane, accurate-inaccurate.

Объяснение проектной работы

13:59

(4 мин.)

Today we spoke about the safe behavior in the swimming pool. Are there other places where we need to follow some rules?

Should we follow safety rules when we cross the road or go mushrooming in the woods, Nikita?

That's right.

What about going to the woods, Danil?

I agree with you.

I want you to divide into two groups. The first group will think of safety rules for pedestrians and the second group will create rules on a safe behavior in the woods.

You will get some pictures that will help you to make a poster with certain rules, but you will make it on the next lesson. At home you are to write out rules you will include in your poster, according to the pictures. Try to include opposite adjectives we learn today in your rules.

-Yes, we should. We should be careful while crossing the road and we should watch road signs.

-We shouldn't walk alone in the woods and we shouldn't walk too far from the road.

Заключительный этап. Подведение итогов.

Can you name the words, we've learnt today, Sonya?

Was it hard for you to fulfill the task with opposite adjectives, Polina?

I hope you enjoyed our lesson.

We may be free, good-bye!
