Unit 9 Lesson 5

Objectives:

• by the end of the lesson Pp should be able to talk about their imaginary journey

Pp will practice:

• listening for specific information

• reading for details

• speaking (short dialogues )

• writing (copying phrases)

• speaking( a short narration)

Materials: dice per each group of three, a map

1. Tune - in (5 min)

Hello, my dear children! Sit down, please, and let's begin our lesson. Today we'll continue talking about travelling. At the end of the lesson you`ll make a story about your journey for the treasure hunt. I know that you like travelling and have travelled to different countries. Please, name the countries where you have been. (дети называют страны). Very well, but do you want to travel to the Treasure Island?

Stand up and let`s go. (chant стр.96, №1, CD 94, на доске карточки со словами и иллюстрациями). I want to devide you into three four teams.( 3-4 children). Please, take the cards of different colours and sit at the table where the flag of your colour is.

2. Homework check (10 min)

You know for famous travellers, who travelled for treasure. Who are they? ( используем презентацию с изображением путешественников, слайды 2-5). Your home task was to fill the tables. Each team has four tables to fill. (командам выданы 4 пустые таблицы).

At the screen you see the questions. Read them in chorus, please. (слайд 6)

Are you ready to work? At first you`ll listen to the texts about Marco Polo and Sir Francis Drake, then you`ll use the texts about James Cook and Christopher Columbus. After that give your tables to the other group to check and get marks.

(дети выполняют задание, затем передают выполненные задания на проверку другой группе, по кругу, проверяют задания и выставляют оценки.)

Relax pause. (2-3 min)

You met a famous Capitain Brave. He gave you a map of a treasure island. Look at the map. Where is your island? (на карте 4 острова, отмеченные 4 разноцветными флагами.) The map rap will help us. (song стр.94 №2, CD 92, на экране острова и роза ветров, слайд 7.)

Now you can answer the question.

3. Read and play (15-17 min)

Each team has a dice. You`ll make a story about your island using the dice and page 100 in the Pupil`s book. Write your answers on the sheets of paper and you`ll make a story.

On the screen there will be the answers. (слайды 8-12). Choose the answer you need.

Now you have answers to the questions. Let`s check your work. Ask the questions to the other team and then think of one more question.

4. Write your own travelogue (5 min)

Look at exercise 2 at page 100. Read the information about a travelogue online. Answer the questions:

• Who`s the site for?

• What would you like to write about?

Open your Activity books. Exercise 1 at page 60 will help you. (слайд 13). We`ll listen for the first 3 pupils.

5. Homework.

Well done. Thank you for your lesson, your marks are… (подведение итогов урока, выставление оценок). Do the exercises 1 and 2, at pages 60-61 in your Activity book for the next lesson. If you want draw a map or a picture of the place from youк travelogue. Goodbye!
