Тема урока: Нужно ли читать книги? Моя любимая книга. Повторение.

Цели и задачи урока:

1)Учить рассказывать о своих увлечениях, о любимых книгах, аргументируя свой выбор, привлекая активную лексику.

2)Познакомить учащихся с новой лексикой по теме «Чтение. Литература», развивать умение чтения с полным пониманием содержания и извлечением специфической информации, совершенствовать речевые навыки, ввести новый лексико-грамматический материал: Autobiography, biography, classic, a detective story, educational, to encourage, to explore, fantasy, fiction, a genre, horror, imagination, to improve, to influence, informative, non-fiction, a novel, realistic, to recommend, a reference book, a romance, science fiction, to succeed in, a thriller

3) Расширять кругозор учащихся; интерес к культуре Великобритании; интерес к изучению иностранного языка; воспитывать интерес к чтению книг, к литературе Англии, познакомить с творчеством У. Шекспира.

Charles Dickens and Rochester

The city of Rochester is proud of its connections with Charles Dickens, and the great novelist is honoured at a special Dickens Festival every year at the turn of May and June. Local people dress up in Victorian costumes, there are readings and plays and famous characters from Dickens' novels put in an appearance to encourage the celebrations. At Christmas time local people don their costumes once again to indulge in some Dickensian carol singing. Dickens grew up in Chatham, where his father was a clerk in the Dockyard, but it was Rochester that he loved. He bought Gad's Hill House (now a school), just outside the town, and lived there from 1857 until his death in 1870. He would have liked to have been buried in Rochester, but the nation claimed him for Westminster Abbey.

The Library's major summer exhibition for 1994 is Pictures of the Mind: Robert Louis Stevenson 1850-1894, which celebrates the imaginative world of one of Scotland's best loved writers through books, manuscripts, photographs and film (July - October).
