Открытый урок "Путешествие в Австралию"

Тип: урок-обобщение

Цели урока:

  • Расширение страноведческих и лингвистических знаний учащихся.

  • Совершенствование умений и навыков практического владения английским языком по теме.

  • Закрепление лексического и грамматического материала.


Задачи урока:

Воспитательные :укрепление интереса к предмету, воспитание уважительного отношения к зарубежной культуре.



Развивающие: организация учебного процесса как речемыслительного поиска, в котором идет развитие творческой деятельности, памяти, догадки, воображения, способности логически излагать, работать в группах и самостоятельно.

Образовательные :систематизация, обобщение и закрепление пройденного материала, тренировка в аудировании, говорении, расширение словарного запаса, совершенствование техники чтения.

Оборудование:

  • Физическая карта Австралии.

  • Компьютер.

  • Мультимедийный проектор

  • Магнитофон.

  • Раздаточный материал.


Ход урока


1. Организационный момент.


1. Приветствие

- Hello, boys and girls! I`m glad to see you.

Sit down, please. I hope all of you are well.

_ What date is it today ?

_ What season is it now ?



2. Постановка цели урока

- Imagine that we are having a geography lesson today.

And what English-speaking countries do you know? Can you name them? Who сan show them on the map?

Our lesson is going to be unusual today: Geography in English. We are going to travel to Australia and listen to, read and speak about its geographical position and peculiarities. No wonder it is called "the upside down world" It is a very interesting, unusual and mysterious country.. Before listening to some text about Australia we must learn the pronunciation of some geographical names of town ,cities, oceans territories.

Phonetic drills, Look at the blackboard. You see some proper names. I want you to read them correctly: Australia, Austrelian, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, the Indian ocean, the Pacific ocean, Murray, Darling, Equator, Southern hemisphere.

But I think you will have a better chance of enjoying your trip round Australia if you are prepared for it,if you know something about the country you are going to visit. So, let's beginbour talk and have a look at map, For our working let's separate into two groups and make two teems. You will be given some questions and information about Australia. Who has more correct answers will be a winner. Are you really for our competition then let's begin.

Welcome to Australia. We`ll introduce you to the people of Australia , its history, geography and culture... You will get cards with the questions about Australia. Read and translate questions in your cards.. Now you are ready to listen to some information about Australia.

- Cлайд-проект . Australia is the sixth largest country and the smallest continent in the world .It is surrounded by three countries, Indonesia and New Guinea to the north and New Zealand to the south-east.

Australia has six states and two territories. One of the states, Tasmania, is actually an island and is located south of the main continent. The capital of Tasmania is Hobart. Western Australia is the largest state. Its capital is Perth. Sydney is the largest city in Australia and is the capital of the state New South Wales. Sydney is located just north of Canberra, the capital of Australia. Australia has the largest coral reef in the world.1500 different kinds of fish live there. It's called The Great Barrier Reef. It is situated on the northeast coast of Australia, off the coast of Queensland. The capital of Australia is Canberra. Canberra is the home of Australia's government. Australia is an English-speaking country. The official language in Australia is English. Australia is located in the southern hemisphere. That is why it has summer when we have winter and it has winter when we have summer. It is interesting to know that January is the hottest month for People from Great Britain who came and settled in Australia over 200 years ago in 1788. Captain James Cook travelled to Australia for about two months and he discovered this continent in 1770. There are a lot of nations in Australia about 200 nationalities. The first in habitats are aborigines. They come to Australia 40000 years ago. They have their own language and culture. The aborigines are the Australian natives that had been living here for thousands and thousands of years before the first Europeans come to Australia.

There are a lot of exotic animals and birds. The most popular animal of Australia is kangaroo. It is a symbol of Australia. Not only the kangaroo. There are the koala and dingo. The koala is a bear , the dingo is a dog. There are 55 species of parrots . They are very colourful. The emu is the most interesting bird. It is big and cannot fly. The koala is the best loved of all Australian animals. The kangaroo and emu can be seen on Australia`s coat of arms.The kookaburra is another ineresting Australian bird. I t cannot sing, but laughs like a human.

- I think it was an interesting and very informative lesson. Now you know a little bit more about this Southern continent.

All the reporters did their best and deserve excellent marks.

At the next lesson we`ll have a short dictation. Revise the names of Australian animals.
