St. Valentine's Day- Holiday of Love and Romance.

Разработка урока, посвященного Дню Святого Валентина

Цели:
- активизировать ранее изученные лексические единицы по теме "Holidays", "Traits of Character"; развивать умение применять материал в практических ситуациях;
- развивать умение запросить информацию, способность к догадке, воображению, память; расширять кругозор учащихся;
- развивать мотивацию к дальнейшему овладению английским языком; обеспечить в ходе урока изучение таких вопросов, как дружба, любовь и т. д.
Наглядный материал: Valentine symbols, hearts, sayings about love, раздаточный материал.

Hello, dear boys and girls! How are you? Hello! I'm fine, thank you.

Речевая разминка

Teacher: Do you like holidays? Oh, I know you are very fond of them, especially when you don't have to go to school or prepare your homework. Holidays bring you so much fun and joy. Am I right? Let's revise the words connected with the theme " Holidays".

Romance, holiday, present, celebrate, flower, balloon, feeling, sweet, heart, sweetheart, friend, love, boyfriend, girlfriend, card, ring, cake.

Match the opposites:

Teacher: What is the role of holidays in our life? Do you think holidays make our life better? Do you think holidays help us to battle with the problems of life? You know that there are different holidays in Great Britain and in America that we don't have.

Teacher: What holidays do we have in Russia? ("Ivan Kupala","Maslenitsa") Teacher: What holidays do the Americans have? ("Thanksgiving Day in America"). Teacher: What holidays do the British have? ("Halloween in Great Britain ","St. Valentine's Day").

Now let's talk about St. Valentine's Day. When do we celebrate this holiday? Who celebrates it: young or old, boys or girls, poor or rich? Do you get a present from anyone? What do people usually give on this day?( Cards, sweets, balloons, flowers, rings, cakes, etc.) You know that some romantic people compose and recite poems to their sweethearts. Let's listen to the poems about love and romance.

To each and every friend of mine I'll send a lovely valentine. Mom, Dad, Sis and Brother too Will receive a heart that says, " I love you."
