*On their desks Ss have 2 cards - the picture of a housewife and a sportsman. Under the pictures there are gaps. They fill the blanks under the pictures and write down the letters. As a result they have 2 words - "housewife" and "sportsman" Some blanks have numbers. Ss chose cards with numbers from 1to 11. Put them on the board 1 by 1 and get the word "professions".

*Teacher tests the Ss what professions they know and what these people can do (CCQs)

* gives some new words - pictures on the screen & CCQs

This gives Ss better understanding of the meaning of the target language.

*matching - definition + the name of the profession

NB!!! Then Ss change their hangouts and check the task of the other group. They count their points.

* T practices pronunciation of the words

Group work ( per 3 Ss) = a sort of competition

This gives Ss further practice.

*riddles about professions

1S stays before the board, the picture is behind him(her). Other Ss give clues.

Ex. : She is kind and understanding. She helps people. She works at the hospital ( a nurse)

1) T shows a humorous video clip. The idea of the clip is an interview for a job;

2) With the strongest S the T shows " an interview for a job"
