1)T: Good morning, dear pupils!

Cl: Good morning, dear teacher!

Good morning, how are you?

We are very happy to say "hello!" to you.

T: I am happy to see you here too. You really look great and I hope you will enjoy this lesson.

Now watch the video, listen to the song "People Song", sing it to make your spirit bright and try to say what will be the topic of our lesson today!

Cl: The topic of this lesson will be "Our Future Professions".

T: That is good! Of course, it is not easy to choose the right profession, so it is a very important moment in your life now. Look at these pictures and name one more topic of our lesson, please!

Cl: Учащиеся смотрят слайды Power Point презентации и приходят к выводу, что тема урока: "At the Crossroads".

T: Yes, it is. And I would like to tell you that the topic "At the Crossroads" is the last one of your total English studying course at school. So, let us start our lesson which has the purpose to help you to find your future profession. I am sure our lesson will be bright and informative. Read the agenda of it, please!

  1. Listening to the song "People Song" to give the name of the lesson

  2. Checking the homework (the text " When I Grow Up I'm Going to Be")

  3. Individual work: writing about pluses and minuses of their future professions

  4. The game "Hot Chair"

  5. Team Work " The Way to Success"

  6. CV and Job Interview

  7. Business Fables, Quotations and Proverbs

  8. Cinquain About Jobs

  9. Reflexion on the lesson

T: The motto of our lesson is:

When work is a pleasure, life is a joy! When work is a duty, life is slavery.

Maxim Gorky

2) T: The second step of our lesson is checking your homework: Ex.2, P. 65 (textbook "At the Crossroads"}

Cl: Ученики получают полоски цветной бумаги с набором слов из которых они составляют вопросы к домашнему тексту. Затем они зачитывают свои вопросы в таком порядке, чтобы они соответствовали последовательности содержания текста. Выбранные ими ученики отвечают на их вопросы.

3) T: Great job! I see that you know a lot about the importance of choosing the right profession in your life.

So, now write the name of your future job, its pluses and minuses.

Please, give your paper to your desk mate. Let's read your records in chain.

Cl: Каждый ученик читает то, что написал его сосед и передает это классу в косвенной речи.

4) T: We have learnt a lot of interesting things about you and now we can see that your character is very important for choosing your profession. So, let's brainstorm about personal qualities and skills which are necessary for making the right choice of your future profession.

Cl: Ученики записывают на доске по одному (самому важному) слову:

  • Punctual

  • Energetic

  • Honest

  • Co-operative

  • Organized

  • Open-minded

  • Well- groomed

  • Creative

  • Hard-working

  • Disciplined

  • Self-confident

  • Resourceful

  • Flexible

  • Reliable

T: It is not a secret that your work will take a lot of your time and energy. That is why, it is very interesting to know what is the real meaning of work for you.

Cl: money

freedom

pride

career

respect

fun

skill

self-confidence

T: Now, dear pupils, you have a chance to get a clever advice about your future profession from our psychologist.

Let's play a game, which is called "A Hot Chair". It is simple.

One of you will sit down on the chair, the others will speak honestly about your traits of character. Then our psychologist will give your her advice.

Cl: Один ученик садится на стул, а другие по очереди называют качества его характера:

e.g.: I think you are communicative and sociable. / In my opinion, you are generous and amiable. / I'm sorry to say, but you are a bit lazy, you should be more hard-working.

Psychologist : I would advise you to become a… , because you …

T: Let's make a quick quiz:

  • Which jobs do you think there will be more of in the future? Why?

a) Health care workers

b) Computer programming

c) Farming

  • Which jobs do you think there will be fewer of in the future? Why?

a)Delivering post

b) Forestry work

c) Teaching

Cl: ученики делают свой выбор и приводят доводы в его защиту

e.g.: a) There will be a great progress in all fields of life.

b) Furthermore, as there will be more old people, there will be an increase in the demand for another very particular kind of worker.

c) As none of these jobs is repetitive, each new task requires an entirely different assessment of a practical problem.

d) Programming requires not only mathematical talent but also creativity.

e) Even today the video game industry is larger than the entire world-wide film industry.

f) This is because as people will have more leisure time in future, they will look for new ways to enjoy themselves.

5.T: You know that on the way to your future career you will come across some obstacles and hardships which have to be overcome. What are the problems that you'll have to cope with and how are you going to do it?

Cl: Ученики говорят о сложностях поступления в ВУЗ и том как тяжело им там будет учиться. Они также рассказывают о том как они собираются преодолеть эти трудности.

T: Now you will work in teams and make a "train" which will bring you to your success.

Cl: Ученики располагают цветные листы бумаги как вагоны поезда. на них они записывают те качества их характера , которые помогают им добиться успеха. Между вагонами они рисуют мешки с песком. На них они записывают что им мешает быть успешными. Обе команды выступают с презентацией своего "поезда", находят что у них общего и в чем разница. В результате они составляют общий список слов необходимых для достижения успеха в работе и в жизни.

6. T: Imagine how happy you are, because you are not students now. You are young specialists. What do you do next?

P1: We apply for a job.

T: What do we call a person who applies for a job?

P2: An applicant.

T: What does an applicant do?

P3: Writes a letter of application and CV.

T: What shall we write in the CV? (p.70, textbook "At the Crossroads")

Cl: Ученики просматривают образцы CV в своих учебниках, записывают в тетрадь основные их пункты, читают и обсуждают их.

7. T: So, we have talked about many things which are important for your future profession. But, dear pupils, you should never forget about the most important of them! What is it?

Cl: Making our professional career, we should not forget about the real meaning of life: about family, friends and the beauty of the world.

T: Right you are! This parable "A Businessman and a Fisherman" just tells us about it. Read it and say why you agree or disagree with the fisherman. What is your idea about the balance in life after reading this parable?

Cl: Ученики читают притчу и затем высказывают свои идеи о том кто из двух действующих лиц послужил бы им образцом для подражания и почему.

8.T: Now it is time for your creative work. Let us write a Cinquain-poem about professions.

Cl: После повторения правила написания стихов в стиле Синквейн, ученики пишут собственные стихи о своей будущей профессии.

e.g.:

Doctor (1 noun)

Caring, attentive (2 adj.)

Examines, treats, cures (3 verbs)

Helps people (1 short sentence)

Satisfaction ( 1 noun resume )

9.T: You worked very well at this lesson and so it will not be difficult for you to do your homework - to write an essay "At the Crossroads". Your marks are 5,4,5,4,5,…

Well friends, now it is the last part of our lesson and I would like you to tell me what new things have you learnt here; what you liked or didn't like at our lesson; what ideas of this lesson will be really important in choosing your future profession.

Cl: учащиеся отвечают на вопросы учителя, участвуя в рефлексии урока.

T: The lesson is over. Thanks again for your good job! Be happy with your future profession! Good bye! Have a nice day!
