Objectives:

  • To develop pupil's speaking skills through interactive methods (group work);

  • To broaden pupil's knowledge of the topic Environment, Ecology;

  • Use vocabulary on the topic;

  • To develop and broaden pupil's outlook;

PROCEDURE

  1. GREETINGS

  • Teacher: Hello, dear boys and girls! I'm glad to see you in a good mood! Everybody looks wonderful today. Are you ready to work?

  • Pl.:…

  • Teacher: Let's start. Don't forget that I'm going to evaluate your work during the lesson. At the end we'll sum up all your results. Work as hard as you can. Today we are continuing to speak about Environmental Problems in the USA.

  • "The tree of expectations"

  • Teacher: Have you noticed the apples on you desks? These apples are from the tree of expectations. Take them and write what you expect to do during the lesson. What would you like to do?

II. WARMING-UP. BRAINSTORMING

  • Teacher: For the first activity I would like to play a game "Pleasant Word" with you. Wish something pleasant to your mates for today!

III. MAIN PART

  1. Teacher: Our first activity is to write your associations with the word Ecology.

Ecology


  1. Teacher: Now I want to discuss with you some questions.

  • Is it important to speak about Environment? Why?

  • What do you know about the ecological situation in the world?

  • What can you say about Ukraine? Crimea?

  • What are the main serious ecological problems in our country?


  • Teacher: Excellent! Today we are going to work in three groups! Now, take please cards from the box and take your sits according to your card. Today we are going to make a book with environmental problems that we have in the USA. The first task is to write your associations with Water Pollution, Air Pollution and Land Pollution. (you have 2 minutes)

  • Teacher: Nice, now your task is to choose pictures and sentences according to your problem. We are making pages of our book (you have 8 minutes). When you'll be ready choose one representer who will speak about your problem to the whole class.

Teacher: Wonderful! We made with you very god book! But what should we do with it?

  1. Relaxation.

Teacher: Children, I think you are tied, and I suggest you to have some a rest. Do you want to relax?

Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Breathe in. Breathe out. Let's pretend its summer. You are lying on a sandy beach. The weather is fine. The light wind is blowing from the sea. The birds are singing. You have no troubles. No serious problems. You are quiet. Your brain relaxes. There is calm in your body. Nothing diverts your attention. You are relaxing. Your troubles float away. You love your parents, your school, and your friends. They love you too. Learn to appreciate every good thing. The Earth is full of wonders. You can do anything. You are sure of yourself, that you have much energy. You are in good spirits. Open your eyes. How do you feel?

Teacher: Are you good in spirits? What do you think about our relaxations?

4. Teacher: Now, my dears, we are going listen to the song, (The Earth Song by Michael Jackson) and make different activities. Be attentive! While listening you should put words into right order, choose the right word, and complete sentences.

IV.SUMMING - UP.

  • Teacher: Great my congratulations. Tell me please, is environment important in our life?? Why? Explain, please.

  • Teacher: Look at our "The tree of expectations". What did we do today?
