Тема урока: «The USA».

Цели урока:

1. Расширение страноведческих и лингвистических знаний учащихся.

2. Совершенствование умений и навыков практического владения английским языком по теме.

3. Закрепление лексического и грамматического материала.

Задачи урока:

Воспитательные :укрепление интереса к предмету, воспитание уважительного отношения к зарубежной культуре.

Развивающие: организация учебного процесса как речемыслительного поиска, в котором идет развитие творческой деятельности, памяти, догадки, воображения, способности логически излагать, работать в группах и самостоятельно.

Образовательные :систематизация, обобщение и закрепление пройденного материала, тренировка в аудировании, говорении, расширение словарного запаса, совершенствование техники чтения.

Компетентность: коммуникативная

1.Организационный момент. Приветствие учащихся, сообщение темы урока.

St Valentine's Day

This holiday comes on February 14. It is a happy little festival for young people. It is widely celebrated among people of all ages by exchange a special greeting-card or a little present.

This holiday is the first day of April. The fun of the holiday is to play silly but harmless jokes on family members and friends. The victim of these jokes is called an April fool. Playing jokes on this day became popular first in France and then in many other countries.

This is a very popular holiday in the USA. At this holiday people go to the church, the bakers cook the hot cross buns. People give each other chocolate Easter eggs, which are opened and eaten on Holly Sunday.

This holiday comes on the fourth Sunday of March. They eat cake and buy gifts of chocolate or flowers for their mothers as way to thank them for all they do.

A popular saying is that God cannot be present everywhere and so he created mothers.

If it is not possible to see a mother, one can send presents and cards to her. Flowers and cakes are the traditional gifts for all mothers in the USA. All women try to be nice and happy on this day.

Halloween is the holiday of vampires, witches, ghosts and other evil spirits. Because of that children wear costumes and masks with their images. Now this holiday is a festival that takes place on October 31.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

The USA is one of the largest countries in the world. It is situated in the central part of the North American continent. The area of the USA is over nine million square kilometers. Its oceans are the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic.

The population of the United States is nearly 250 million people.

The official language of the country is English. The capital of the country is Washington. It was named in honour of the first President, George Washington. As the USA is a large country, the climate is different in different regions.

The longest river is the Mississippi. There are five Great Lakes between the USA and Canada.

There are many big cities in the country. They are Washington, New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Philadelphia.

The USA consists of 50 states. Each of these states has its own government.

The president is the head of the state and the government.
