H.Heine

Die blauen Frühlingsaugen

Schahn aus dem Gras hervor;

Daß ich so traurig bin;

Ein Märchen aus alten Zeiten,

Das kommt mir nicht aus dem Sinn.

Die Luft ist kühl und es dunkelt,

Und ruhig fließt der Rhein;

Der Gipfel des Berges funkelt

Im Abendsonnenschein.

Die schönste Jungfrau sitzet

Dort oben wunderbar;

Ihr goldnes Geschmeide blitzet,

Sie kämmt ihr goldenes Haar.

Sie kämmt es mit goldenem Kamme

Und singt ein Lied dabei;

Das hat eine wundersame,

Gewaltige Melodei.

Den Schiffer im kleinen Schiffe

Ergreift es mit wildem Weh;

Er schaut nicht die Felsenriffe,

Er schaut nur hinauf in die Höh.

Ich glaube, die Wellen verschlingen

Am Ende Schiffer und Kahn;

Und das hat mit ihrem Singen

Die Lorelei getan.

H. Heine
Ich wollt' meine Schmerzen ergössen

Ich wollt' meine Schmerzen ergössen
Sich all' in ein einziges Wort,
Das gäb' ich den lustigen Winden,
Die trügen es lustig fort.

Sie tragen zu dir, Geliebte,
Das schmerzerfüllte Wort;

Gefunden (Goethe)

Ich ging im Walde
so fur mich hin,
und nichts zu suchen,
das war mein Sinn.

Im Schatten sah ich
ein Blumchen stehn,
wie Stern leuchtend,
wie Auglein schon

Ich wollt' es brechen,
da sagt' es fein.
"Soll ich zum Welken
gebrochen sein?"

Ich grub's mit allen
den Wurzlein aus,
im Gaten trug ich' s
am hubschen Haus.

Und pflanzt' es wieder
am stillen Ort;
nun zweigt es immer
und bluht so fort.

The English Queen Elizabeth I was born in1533 near London. She was the daughter of the English King Henry VIII and his third wife Anne Boleyn. She was very smart and got brilliant education .After the death of her half -sister (Maria Tudor) Elizabeth was crowned. She was only 25. Elizabeth became the last from the Tudor's dynasty to rule the country. Elizabeth's reign is known as the Elizabethan era, famous above all for the flourishing of English drama, led by playwrights such as William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. Also England became the greatest sea powerful country. Elizabeth didn't get married. She said that she was married to her kingdom and subjects. In 1599, she spoke of "all my husbands, my good people". As Elizabeth liked poetry she wrote some poems of her own. One of them you will hear right now. In this poem she tells about her annoying fans.

When I was fair and young, and favor graced me,.

Of many was I sought their mistress for to be.

But I did scorn them all, and said to them therefore,

"Go, go, go, seek some otherwhere; importune me no more."

How many weeping eyes I made to pine in woe;

How many sighing hearts I have not skill to show,

But I the prouder grew, and still this spake therefore:

"Go, go, go, seek some otherwhere, importune me no more."

Then spake fair Venus' son, that brave victorious boy,

Saying: You dainty dame, for that you be so coy,

I will so pluck your plumes as you shall say no more:

"Go, go, go, seek some otherwhere, importune me no more."

As soon as he had said, such change grew in my breast

That neither night nor day I could take any rest.

Wherefore I did repent that I had said before:

"Go, go, go, seek some otherwhere, importune me no more."

The capital of Great Britain is famous not only by the Big Ben, the Buckingham Palace and the Trafalgar Square. I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night
And still have danced some more
I could have spread my wings, and done a thousand things
I've never done before

I'll never know what made it so exciting
But all at once my heart took flight
I only know that she, began to dance with me
I could have danced, danced, danced, all night

Having been in London we can't talk about one of the most famous English writers. Her name is Jane Austen. She was an English novelist and wrote the so-called novels of manners. Her realism, biting irony and social commentary have gained historical importance among scholars and critics and real love among readers. Pride and Prejudice is a novel of manners, first published in 1813. The plot is set in England of early 19th century. The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet, as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing , morality, education and marriage in the society of the landed gentry.

George Gordon Byron is one of the greatest English romantic poets. He was born in London. He spent his childhood in Scotland. Byron was an athlete, a great rider and an excellent swimmer. After school, he started writing poems. "She walks in beauty" is one of the most popular Byron's poems. He wrote it after returning from the ball, where Byron saw Mrs. Wilmot Horton.

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes;

Thus mellowed to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impaired the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o'er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express,

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

Wherever we speak of Scotland, the name of Scotland's bard Robert Burns is always there, as the ever-living, never-dying symbol of the country. Robert Burns is the Scottish legend. He was born on the 25th of January in 1759. He was a poet and a lyricist. He is regarded as the national poet of Scotland, and is celebrated worldwide. He is the best-known of the poets who have written in the Scots language. Robert Burns wrote his poems about and for common people. He loved his fantastic motherland very much. And he wrote a wonderful poem which shows us his love to Scotland.

Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North,
The birth-place of Valour, the country of Worth;
Wherever I wander, wherever I rove,
The hills of the Highlands for ever I love.
My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here;
My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer;
A-chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe,
My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go.

Farewell to the mountains high covered with snow;
Farewell to the straths and green valleys below;
Farewell to the forests and wild-hanging woods;
Farewell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods.
My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here;
My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer;
A-chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe,
My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go.

The picture is of daffodils at Ullswater. In 1802 William and Dorothy Wordsworth visited Glencoyne Park. On the15th of April 1802, they passed the strip of land at Glencoyne Bay, called Ullswater. It is this visit that gave Wordsworth the inspiration to write this famous poem.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the "border: none; ">

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed-and gazed-but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought.

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Welcome to Scotland. Edinburgh (the capital of Scotland) is famous as the birthplace of one of the famous detective writers. His name is familiar to the lovers of detectives. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. And his Sherlock Holmes. Arthur Conan Doyle was a Scottish physician and writer who is most noted for his fictional stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes. He was a prolific writer whose other works include fantasy and science fiction stories, plays, romances, poetry, non-fiction, and historical novels. Do you know that he wrote poems when he was a student? He tried himself in poetry. Listen to his poem "By the North sea".

Her cheek was wet with North Sea spray,
We walked where tide and shingle meet;
The long waves rolled from far away
To purr in ripples at our feet.
And as we walked it seemed to me
That three old friends had met that day,
The old, old sky, the old, old sea,
And love, which is as old as they.

Out seaward hung the brooding mist
We say it rolling, fold on fold,
And marked the great Sun alchemist
Turn all its leaden edge to gold,
Look well, look well, oh lady mine,
The grey below, the gold above,
For so the greyest life may shine
All golden in the light of love.

Emily Jane Brontë was a British novelist and poet, best remembered for her only novel Wuthering Heights, which is now an acknowledged classic of English literature. Emily was born at Thornton. In 1838, Emily commenced work as a governess at Miss Patchett's Ladies Academy at Law Hill Hall, near Halifax. In 1847, she published her only novel, Wuthering Heights, as two parts of a three-part book (the last part being Agnes Grey).

A Little Budding Rose by Emily Bronte

It was a little budding rose,
Round like a fairy globe,
And shyly did its leaves unclose
Hid in their mossy robe,
But sweet was the slight and spicy smell
It breathed from its heart invisible.

The rose is blasted, withered, blighted,
Its root has felt a worm,
And like a heart beloved and slighted,
Failed, faded, shrunk its form.
Bud of beauty, bonnie flower,
I stole thee from thy natal bower.

I was the worm that withered thee,
Thy tears of dew all fell for me;
Leaf and stalk and rose are gone,
Exile earth they died upon.
Yes, that last breath of balmy scent
With alien breezes sadly blent!

Home by Anne Bronte

How brightly glistening in the sun
The woodland ivy plays!
While yonder beeches from their barks
Reflect his silver rays.
That sun surveys a lovely scene
From softly smiling skies;
And wildly through unnumbered trees

In the town where I was born

Lived a man who sailed to sea

And he told us of his life

In the land of submarines

So we sailed up to the sun

Till we found the sea of green

And we lived beneath the waves

In our yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine

Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine

Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

And our friends are all aboard

Many more of them live next door

And the band begins to play

Obladi Oblada

Desmond has a barrow in the market place

Molly is the singer in a band

Desmond says to Molly - girl I like your face

And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand.

[Chorus:]

Obladi oblada life goes on bra

Lala how the life goes on

Obladi Oblada life goes on bra

Lalala how the life goes on.

Desmond takes a trolley to the jeweler's store

Buys a twenty carat golden ring

Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door

And as he gives it to her she begins to sing.

[Chorus:]

In a couple of years they have built

A home sweet home

With a couple of kids running in the yard

Of Desmond and Molly Jones.

Happy ever after in the market place

Desmond lets the children lend a hand

Molly stays at home and does her pretty face

And in the evening she's a singer with the band.

[Chorus:]

Michelle, ma belle
These are words that go together well
My Michelle
Tres bien ensemble

I love you, I love you, I love you
That's all I want to say
Until I find a way
I will say the only words I know that
You'll understand

Tres bien ensemble

I need to, I need to, I need to
I need to make you see
Oh, what you mean to me
Until I do I'm hoping you will
Know what I mean
I love you
I want you, I want you, I want you
I think you know by now
I'll get to you somehow
Until I do I'm telling you so
You'll understand

Tres bien ensemble

I will say the only words I know
That you'll understand, my Michelle

Go away, my dear, remember me.
Fly by like a bird flocks
Fly century remember me
Wherever it was you, I'm waiting for you.
The whole life is not enough to wait for you
My life is gone, if not you
You're in the edge of the distant don't forget me
Wherever it was you, I'm waiting for you.
Easier to wait century than four days
Suddenly, in these moments you forgot me
You're in the edge of the distant remember me
Gone, dear, remember me
Let run century, remember me
And in the winter, and in summer will be waiting for you
Wherever it was you, I'm waiting for you.
The whole life is not enough to wait for you
My life is gone, if not you
You're in the edge of the distant remember me
I love you, waiting for you
Waiting for you...
I love you...

SCENE II.

Romeo. [ coming forward.]

[Enter JULIET above at a window.]

It is my lady; O, it is my love!

O that she knew she were!

She speaks, yet she says nothing. What of that?

Her eye discourses; I will answer it.

I am too bold; it's not to me she speaks.

Juliet. Ay me!

Romeo. She speaks.

O, speak again, bright angel!

Juliet. O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore are you Romeo?

Deny your father and refuse your name!

Or, if you won't,/ be but sworn my love,\

And I'll no longer be a Capulet.\

Romeo. [aside] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?

Juiet. 'This but your name/ that is my enemy\.

You are yourself,/ and not a Montague.\

'What's Montague?/ it is nor hand,/ nor foot,/

Nor arm/ nor face,/ nor any other part

Belonging to a man\. O,/ be some other name!\

'What's in a name?\ That /which we call a rose/

By any other name would smell as sweet.\

So Romeo would/, were he not Romeo called,\

Retain that dear perfection which he owes

Without that_title.\ Romeo,/ doff your name;\

And for that name/, which is no part of you,/

\Take all myself.

Romeo. I take you at your word.

Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized;

Henceforth I never will be Romeo.

Juliet. How came you here,\ tell me,\ and \wherefore?/

The orchard walls are high and hard to climb.\

Romeo. With love's light wings did I overperch these walls…

Juliet. If they do see you,/ they will murder you.

Romeo. I have night's cloak to hide me from their sight.

Juliet. By whose direction found you out this place?/

Romeo. By love…Lady, by yonder blessed moon I swear,

That tips with silver all these fruit-tree tops-

Juliet. O, swear not by the moon, the inconstant moon…

Romeo. What shall I swear by?

Juliet. Do not swear at all;\

Or if you will,/ swear by your gracious self,/

Which is the god of my idolatry,/

And I'll believe you.\

Romeo. If my heart's dear love-

Juliet. Well, do not swear.

(- Juliet! Juliet!)

Juliet.

I hear some noise within. Dear love, adieu!

Romeo. O blessed, blessed night!

On the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again
On the road again
Goin' places that I've never been
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get on the road again.

We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world be turnin' our way
And our way
Is on the road again
Just can't wait to get on the road again
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
