Тема урока: Table manners (как вести себя за столом)

УМК: New Millennium English, автор Н.Н.Деревянко

Unit 7 Lesson 3

Цель урока: развитие РУ (обсуждение правил поведения за столом)

Задачи урока:

1. Образовательные:

- совершенствование навыков чтения и говорения;

- расширение языковой и коммуникативной компетенции учащихся.

2. Развивающие:

- развитие способности к распределению внимания, к сравнению и обобщению;

- формирование способности к формулированию выводов из прочитанного, к планированию своего высказывания;

- развитие познавательного интереса учащихся.

3. Воспитательные:

- развитие эстетических вкусов;

- формирование потребности, способности к осознанию образа жизни, поведения людей другой культуры и своей родной культуры.

Оснащение урока: проектор, видео, посуда, столовые приборы.

Ход урока:

I. Warm up.

Время: 1-2 мин.

Уч. -Good afternoon, boys and girls. I'm very glad to see you. (So are we)

Учитель: How are you?

  • What are we going to speak about? (Слайд 1)

- Today we are going to devote our lesson to good and bad manners. We are going to speak about manners at the table.

II. To introduce the vocabulary. (Слайд 2)

- Look at the look box. Read the words and explain the reading rules of underlined letters. (open syllable, closed syllable, stressed syllable)

a fork, a knife, a spoon, a plate,

wipe, lick, throw, spit

bone, elbow, finger, straight

a serviette [s :vi et]=a napkin

- Read the words all together.

-Ask questions each other. (Слайд 3)

- What is the spoon made of? It is made of metal, plastic

-What is it used for? It is used for eating.

- What is the fork made of? It is made of metal, plastic

-What is it used for? It is used for eating.

- What is the table made of? It is made of wood.

-What is it used for? It is used for cooking.

- What is the serviette made of? It is made of cloth or paper.

- What is it used for? It's used for wiping our fingers.

III. Homework check: ex.5b h.89

IV. To practise the new vocabulary.

ex.1 p. 92 - You have got a lot of phrases. Your task is to match them with the pictures.

  • Table manners can be good and bad. According to it divide the phrases into 2 groups: you should/ you shouldn't. Stick on the board.

На доске: 1) lick your fingers

2) say thank you when you finish your meal

3) use your knife and fork or spoon

4) put your elbows on the table

5) throw bones on the floor

6) sit up straight

7) talk with your mouth full

8) wipe your fingers on a serviette

( put the table napkin on one's knees

tuck a napkin under the chin.)

Translation:

1) лизать пальцы

2) после еды говорить спасибо

3) пользоваться ножом, вилкой или ложкой

4) класть локти на стол

5) бросать кости на пол

6) сидеть прямо

7) говорить с набитым ртом

8) вытирать пальцы о салфетку

- Let's discuss the situations that happened at the table.

- What is right or wrong in their behavior? - They are eating noisily.

- Give your advice. (They should eat noiselessly)

- What is right or wrong in their behavior? They are ill-mannered (ill-bred)

- Say what they should/shouldn't do at the table. Write one sentence.

- Correct my mistakes

- You should say goodbye after you finish your meal.

- You shouldn't talk with your cup full.

- You should put your elbows on the plate.

- You should eat your bones.

V. Reading: ex.2a p.92

  • Did table manners use to be different from now?

  • Work in groups:

  1. Read and put the paragraphs in the right order.

  1. Find sentences from the text in ex.2a to match the pictures 1 to 4.

Grammar: used to -Let's revise the grammar structure with used to.

- When do we use "used to" ? (When we talk about past regular activities which are not done any more)

used to - used - What is the difference?

VII. Writing.

  • Make a list of differences and say how table manners used to be different from now?

People in the past used to throw bones on the floor.

We usually don't throw bones on the floor.
