Introduction

The revelance of topic:

North Ossetia is considered one of the most beautiful Republics with well known mountain peaks and waterfalls.

I want to tell you about the waterfalls of our Republic, in particular the waterfalls of Midagrabin gorge.

Aim: to study the waterfall Zeygelan, one of the most beautiful sightseeings in North Ossetia.

Tasks: to collect preliminary data on the topic; to develop the ways of working with popular scientific literature, Internet resources; to justify the need for conscious relationship to the nature of the native land; to visit the waterfalls.

The object of research:

The object of research was the subject of "Midagrabin waterfalls". Materials and methods: using popular scientific literature, Internet resources, as well as a trip to the waterfall Zeygelan, we have investigated general information about waterfalls and that the falls of our Republic also attract attention of people who do not live in our area.

Theoretical and practical significance.

The work completes the students' knowledge on local history of their native country. This work can be used in the educational process, and as a part of an elective course in English.

The Main Part.

" Midagrabin waterfalls are the sightseeing of North Ossetia.

1. What is a waterfall.

A waterfall is a place where water flows over a vertical drop in the course of a stream or river. Waterfalls also occur where melt water drops over the edge of a tabular iceberg.

Waterfalls are commonly formed when a river is young. At this time the channel is often narrow and deep. When the river courses over resistant bedrock; erosion happens slowly, while downstream the erosion occurs more rapidly.

Waterfalls normally form in a rocky area due to erosion. After a long period of being fully formed, the water falling off the ledge will retreat, causing a horizontal pit parallel to the waterfall. In addition to gradual processes such as erosion, earth movement caused by earthquakes or volcanoes can cause a differential in land heights which interfere with the natural course of a water flow, and result in waterfalls.

A river sometimes flows over a large step in the rocks that may have been formed by a fault line. Waterfalls can occur along the edge of a glacial through, where a stream or river flowing into a glacier continuous to flow into a valley the glacier receded or melted.

2. Zeygelan waterfall.

Clouds are always going above this amazing place, even when it is warm and sunny in the valley.

Bright threads of fine waterfalls shine on the background of darks rocks. Their waters are divided into granite boulders, and rush down the slope. When the sun appears, it " lights" water dust. It is difficult to refuse such a spectacle. It is being heard the roar of falling water.

The Great waterfall Zeygela ,translated "falling avalanche", is situated in North Ossetia in the valley of the river Midagrabin near the village of Gimara. This waterfall is located high in the mountains and only local inhabitants has known about its existence.

Zeygelan refers to the number of pulse falls. The flow of its water depends on the temperature of the air in the mountains. The waterfall is fed by glacier water, so in winter the water flow almost stops, and only ice incrustations on the rocks remember about the waterfall. But in summer, on a hot day, especially after heavy rains, the amount of water increases many times, it becomes deep and picturesque.

There are no special roads to the waterfall, that is why you have to go several miles on foot, passing by mountain streams to admire this beauty. But all these difficulties will seem nothing, when you get near the waterfall and swim under its powerful jets of water.

The places are unusual here. During the day the weather gives different surprises: the sun shines brightly, then everything gets dark because of thick rain clouds, rainfall is followed by little rain. In the air there is a scent of Alpine flowers and dwarf birch trees. And all around there is healthy air from the numerous rivers and waterfalls.

In the upper of Gizeldon gorge you can see the change of the forest for the meadow vegetation. The forest grows like small islands. There is a snow wall Zarriuchoch above the black granite cliffs.

But the area where the waterfall is situated, is the border area. You need to receive a pass in the post to get to the waterfalls.

First, who visited Midagrabin waterfalls, was Mary Preobrazhenskaya , who is the founder of women's mountaineering in the world. Here is what she wrote in her article, published in " Izvestia of Russian Geographical society": " The internal noise of the waterfall came from below. The gorge reminded Dore's engraving of Dante's. the twilight reigned " a huge muddy waterfall fell over the cliff and drove its raging water through the gorge, making noise and crash.

Zeygelan is officially recognized as the highest waterfall in Russia, and the third in the world, after the Niagara and Victoria falls. According to the geological data the height of the continuous fall of this waterfall's water is 650 metres away.

Conclusion.

In conclusion, I would like to say that there are a lot of beautiful places in our Republic, especially waterfalls and mountains. But many residents of North Ossetia do not even know that there are such places. I would like our people, living here to appreciate the natural beauty of our region and go to have a rest to native places.

And at the end of my work, let me recite an excerpt from the poem about Glencer waterfall, written by an Irish poet Yeats:

Where the wandering water gushes

From the hills above Glen-Car

In pools among the rushes

That scarce could bathe a star,

We seek for slumbering trout

And whispering in the ears

Give them unquiet dreams;

Leaning softly out

From ferns that drop their tears

Over the young streams
