April Fool's Day
Spring is the time when everyone is ready to have fun after a miserable winter. Playing tricks is an exciting part of every merry holiday.
April fool's Day follows an old tradition when people had a chance to make fun of their rulers on a certain day. In ancient Rome, for example, during the celebration of Saturnalia, a slave could be made an Emperor for a day.
In some European countries there was an old custom when someone was chosen to be the Lord of Misrule. This person had to watch everybody break the normal rules of behaviour during the holiday. In those times the rules were very strict and festival like April Fool's Day gave people a chance to relax and enjoy themselves.
In Middle Ages the New Year celebration began on March 25 and finished on April 1. In France in 1564 with the reform of the calendar New Year's Day was moved from April, 1 to January, 1. But some people didn't know about the changes and went on celebrating New Year on the 1st April. Those who did it were named as "fools".
In England April Fool's Day celebration began in the 18th century. Later the English, Scottish and French introduced this custom to their colonies in America. One of the first settler's favourite jokes was to send someone on a "fool's direction". For example, to go and bring back some "sweet vinegar" or a "copy of the History of Adam's Grandfather".
Since then, April, 1st has been a day of practical jokes and foolish tricks. Nowadays children especially like to trick adults. Their parents may find their shoelaces tied together or some salt in the sugar bowl. It is supposed that anyone who plays a trick after midday is an April Fool himself.
Even the mass media join the fun. For example, in 1957 BBC Television showed a film about spaghetti grown in Switzerland just on bushes. After the programme was over hundreds of viewers phoned the BBC asking where they could buy spaghetti bushes.
But this day is not always connected with "fools". In Britain people believe that if a child is born on April 1, he will be lucky and clever.

Act on the stage
Imagine your shoes are too small for you. Act it out.
Imagine there is a big hole in your trousers. Act it out.
Imagine you've found a hedgehog in your pocket. Act it out.
Imagine you've been walking in the rain and you are soaking wet. Act it out.

Lyrics for Moustache Monkeys
Moustache monkey hanging …
Moustache monkey what's going down
Moustache … all alone
Till Monkey number two gets …
… monkeys checking things out
Wondering what's you're all about
Moustache monkeys are there any more
Here come monkeys … and four
Moustache monkeys turning their …
It helps them think when their sideways instead
Moustache monkeys … at you
They wanna know what you are up to
CHORUS:
Moustache monkeys looking deep in … eyes
If you don't watch out they just might hypnotize
Moustache monkeys don't like to share
Moustache monkeys what's over there
Moustache monkeys you won't believe this
One of them is trying to … you a kiss
Moustache monkeys looking deep in your eyes
If you don't watch out they just might …
Moustache monkeys turning their head
It helps them think when their sideways instead
Mustache monkeys looking at you
They wanna know what you are up to
Mustache monkeys looking deep into your eyes
If you don't watch out they just might hypnotize
If you don't watch out they just might hypnotize
If you don't watch out they just might hypnotize
