Ценность урока в его направленности на развитие общекультурной и интеллектуальной компетенции учащихся, вовлечение их в обсуждение актуальной проблемы роли английского языка в современном мире, развитие личности, формирование уважительного отношения к истории, культуре и народу стран изучаемого языка, стимулирует интерес и обеспечивает поддержание мотивации к изучению английского языка.

Я предлагаю конспект урока обобщения и систематизации ЗУНов по теме «Английский язык и англо-говорящие страны». Форма использования: индивидуальная. Данный материал можно также использовать на внеклассном занятии. Ценность урока в его направленности на развитие общекультурной и интеллектуальной компетенции учащихся, вовлечение их в обсуждение актуальной проблемы роли английского языка в современном мире, развитие личности, формирование уважительного отношения к истории, культуре и народу стран изучаемого языка, стимулирует интерес и обеспечивает поддержание мотивации к изучению английского языка.

Цель занятия: подвести итог проведённой учебной работе на данном этапе обучения английскому языку.

Задачи:
Образовательные:
1. контроль знания фактического материала по теме: «The English-speaking countries»;
2. контроль умения делать короткие сообщения по теме занятия;
3. контроль навыков говорения и умения реагировать на вопросы преподавателя и одногруппников;
4. контроль лексических знаний, умений и навыков по теме занятия;
5. контроль умений и навыков чтения текста страноведческого характера с целью понимания основного содержания;
6. контроль умений и навыков понимания на слух текста страноведческого характера в предъявлении подготовленного студента;
7. закрепить умения и навыки использовать перфектные формы английского глагола в условно-речевых упражнениях;

Развивающие:
1. повысить интерес к изучению английского языка как средства знакомства с англоязычными странами;
2. активизировать познавательную деятельность студентов;
3. активизировать языковое чутье, смысловое восприятие иноязычного материала;
4. активизировать творческие способности студентов при подготовке к занятиям по английскому языку;

Воспитательные:
1. воспитывать уважение к странам изучаемого языка, их истории и культуре.

Teacher: Today we devote our seminar to the overview of the English-speaking countries. We've read and listened to the texts about different countries and now you must have known a lot on this subject. Let's check up that!

Teacher: Now I offer you to brush up your knowledge of the English-speaking countries. Let's listen to the English-speaking countries themselves. What are they going to tell us about ? Listen to the reporters very attentively and be ready to answer the questions.

Teacher: You will listen to the text about sightseeing in London. When you have guessed what it is, raise your hand/signal card.
1. When the mistress of this building is at home, the Royal Standard is flying. Every day at 11.30 a.m. they are changing the Guard. It is the London home of the Queen. It is called … ( Buckingham Palace)
2. On the column in the center there is a statue of the great English seaman who defeated the French in 1805. This column with the statue of Admiral Nelson on its top is located in … (Trafalgar Square)
3. Here there are the tombs of many British kings and queens, other famous people and the beautiful Henry VII Chapel. It is a royal church. It is … ( Westminster Abbey)
4. It is the most famous of all historical buildings in London. There are a lot of interesting collections here. It was a fortress, a royal palace and a prison. It is a museum now. The ravens are another famous sight of … ( The Tower of London)

Teacher: What do you know about St. Paul's Cathedral? (the teacher shows the picture of St. Paul's Cathedral)
It is the greatest and the most striking of English churches. It was built in the 17th century by Sir Christopher Wren. The Cathedral has one of the largest bells in the world, called very beautiful. The most important of them are the monuments dedicated to the Duke of Wellington and to Admiral Nelson. After looking round you can climb 263 steps to the Whispering Gallery. It is called so, because if someone whispers close to the wall on one side, a person with his ear close to the wall on the other side can hear what is said.

6. Why is knowledge of English life necessity?
7. What do you learn English for?

Teacher: Needless to say, that to learn English is not very easy but very interesting and useful. What is the most difficult for you in learning English? (grammar, vocabulary, reading, speaking, listening, writing)

Teacher: Say the nicknames of the American States. (The students are given the cards with the nicknames of the American States. The teacher shows the card with the name of the state, one student shows this state on the map and other students try to guess the nickname of the state shown. The student who has the necessary card shows it and read aloud.)
