Экологический форум «Экология и культура- будущее России»

Практическая цель: развитие умений говорения по проблеме на русском и английском языках

Обучающие задачи:

• развитие умений систематизации и навыков изложения изученного материала по теме, совершенствование навыков коммуникации на русском и английском языках

Развивающие задачи:

• развивать самостоятельность в коммуникативной деятельности, поддерживать и поощрять развитие творческих способностей учащихся;

• развивать у учащихся экологическое мышление, умение ценить окружающий мир, умение ощущать себя неотъемлемой частью окружающего мира

Воспитательные задачи:

• развитие познавательного интереса ;

• воспитание активной жизненной позиции учеников в вопросах экологии;

• воспитание экологической этики, учить школьников бережно относиться к окружающей среде.

Оборудование: плакаты на экологическую тему, мультимедийная установка, аудиозапись песни, таблички с названиями организаций.

В последнее время активная деятельность человека приводит к все более заметному изменению окружающей среды.

Под эгидой ООН объявлено:

• 2005-2015 гг. Международное десятилетие действий «Вода для жизни»

• 2010-2020 гг. десятилетие ООН, посвященное пустыням и борьбе с опустыниванием

• 2013 год ЮНЕСКО объявило годом водного сотрудничества

Сегодня мы проводим необычный интегрированный урок. Урок - экологический форум.

Экологический форум позволяет обмениваться опытом в области экологии.

Представьте себе, что мы сегодня собрались на такой площади.

- What is environment?

- All things around us are parts of our environment. Plants, animals and people need clean land, water and air.

- What causes damage to the environment?

- Some people have not learned how to care of our earth. They are doing harmful things to our land, water and even air. Men have polluted the air, sea and land; used most of the Earth's oil, gas and coal; completely killed more than 500 kinds of animals, birds and plants; made and used atomic bombs; grown in numbers from 1 billion (in 1830) to nearly 6 billion today. It's a disaster ant it's still happening.

- What is ecology?

- Ecology is the science of how living things are related to their environment. Many people all over the world are concerned about the ecology today. The word "ecology" came from the Greek which means "home".

- Yes, I have. GREEN PEACE is a world-known organization which does a lot to protect our nature.

- What else do you know about the activity of GREEN PEACE?

- GREEN PEACE has brought the plight of the natural world to the attention of caring people. Peaceful direct action by GREEN PEACE has invoked the power of public opinion which in turn has forced changes in the law to protect wildlife and to stop the pollution of the natural world.

- Air and water pollution, land pollution, acid rains, greenhouse effect, car noise, trash, holes in the ozone layer, poisons in food, killing animals, extinction of species, deforestation, peat reclamation and many others.

- What can you tell us about the ecology of the Earth?

- The ecology of the Earth is ill, the contradiction between man and nature may lead our planet to a global catastrophe. That is why serious measures to protect environment should be undertaken.

- One should never forget that the Earth is our common and the only home. What should be done?

- The answer is we must stop polluting of the air, the land, the water. None-waste technologies, refinery installations, strict ecological education of the population and thoughtful, careful attitude to everything around you are the answers to the problem of environmental protection. Only in this way we can save our planet for future generations.

считаем необходимым отметить, что в стране пока в этом плане делается

очень мало. Экологическая тематика практически не звучит, нет запроса

на молодых специалистов-экологов, быть экологом и вести себя эколо-

гически правильно непрестижно. Поскольку от решения экологических

проблем зависит наше настоящее и будущее, мы хотим спросить, когда, экология станет приоритетом развития страны и молодежного

движения?

Dear, ladies and gentlemen! We are very glad to meet you all here . I'm Denis. I'm appointed to be the chairman of the forum. And this is our interpreter Irene. She will work with us at the forum. Today's topic for discussion is ecology.

The state of the environment is one of the most important problems nowadays. The impact of human activities on it is rapidly growing . The aim of our forum is to discuss some environmental problems and try to solve them. We have invited two young scientists to take part in it.

Kate and Ann, will you take the floor, please?

Hello everyone! We are from the USA. This is Kate and I'm Ann. Now we want to tell you about ecological problems all over the world.

Let's start with some videos of our beautiful planet. (Кадры красивой планеты)

Unfortunately, today environmental problems are really a hot issue. Many of these problems are man-made. One of the main problems is pollution. And now we can see with our own eyes the disasters caused by careless influence on nature.

They are air pollution, water pollution, land pollution and rubbish, which also has disastrous consequences on everything around us.

We start with air pollution. Let's watch some videos about the state of the air. (Кадры заводов, выхлопов газов и т. д.)

Nowadays a huge number of plants and factories all over the world emit lots of harmful substances into the atmosphere. Scientists say that concentration of poisonous gases is 10 times over admissible level. They are carbon dioxide; hydrocarbons, methane and so on. Even small amounts of these gases affect brains and the nervous system of people. Now we are producing too many greenhouse gases. (Кадры фотографий с трубами и выхлопами)

The second problem is water pollution. (Кадры водоемов). It is one of the largest problems in our world. Industrial pollution has made the water completely undrinkable as a result of illegal damping waste into our rivers by factories and plants. Many rivers and lakes are poisoned and fish can't live there. Other animals suffer from it too. If they drink this water, they are sentenced to death. May be one day we won't have enough water for everybody or won't have any fresh water at all. Of course, we have lots of water under the ground but it is not endless.(Кадры воды).

The third problem is land pollution. (Please look at the short video) It is one of the most important problems. The problem of land pollution is caused by poisoning the land by chemical or nuclear wastes. The polluted land doesn't give us an opportunity to grow healthy organic food which is healthy for our organism.

During last centuries people didn`t think about waste disposal, because they didn`t have such a problem at all. They dumped much rubbish simply in a convenient place. But every year waste products were steadily increasing. At present we cannot keep our rubbish in any place as in the past. For instance, at that time you could dump your rubbish in any dump well or just burn it. Now it is impossible . High prices for waste disposal and the shortage of space for keeping and utilization of the waste are also great problems which we should solve in the nearest future.

Throughout the world, there is a discussion of a strange case - death of birds in different parts of the world. About 4000 dead blackbirds crashed not far from Beebe American town located in the state of Arkansas. Later in Louisiana occurred exactly the same case. And more dead birds fell from the skies already in Kentucky. Rain of dead birds occurred soon in Sweden and Italy. The London edition of Daily Mail believes that the death of birds ( and fish) is caused by climatic changes.

Could you tell us anything about this case? A scientist from Russia is invited here.

Study of man and his relationship with the world led to the understanding that health is not just the absence of diseases , but also physical , mental and social well-being .

And now Elena and Nasty will tell us about the impact of ecology on people's health.

Elena:

Hazards present themselves to us in various media such as air, land and water. Important issues concerning physical hazards include those relating to health effects of electromagnetic radiation and ionising radiation. But the scientific evidence of adverse health effects from general environmental exposure to these fields is "not proven". If there are adverse effects yet to be proven, the risk is probably likely to be very small. Exposure to ultraviolet radiation carries an increased risk of skin cancer such as melanoma; aerosol propellants can damage the "ozone layer" in the stratosphere and thus allow more UV light to reach us, and harm us directly.

Tobacco smoke probably represents the single biggest known airborne chemical risk to health, whether measured in terms of death rates or ill-health.

Combustion of any fossil fuel also adds to the environmental burden of carbon dioxide - an important "green house" gas. Some of the primary pollutants such as nitrogen dioxide can under the influence of UV light generate secondary pollutants notably ozone. Moreover, nitrogen dioxide generated by gas fires or gas cookers can contribute to an increased respiratory morbidity of those living in the houses.

Nasty:

Concentration of sulphur dioxide, ozone and other pollutants in the air cause such diseases as asthma, bronchitis and similar lung ailments.

Pesticides, which are used to kill insects that damage crops, can lead to а severe allergy or even death. Water can be an important source of chemical hazards. It can leach lead from pipes especially if the water is soft. This can have a harmful effect on neurological function.

Last of all, our immune system is constantly fighting against all kinds of bacteria, viruses and germs.

Stress factors , caused by the problems of today's life and environmental problems are a hot issue of many tabloids and newspapers . I invite young scientists from the World Health Organisation to discuss the problems of stress.

Young scientists:

Environmental problems have become one of the most urgent problems of modern society. More and more people suffer from air and water pollution. Nature also suffers from land and nuclear pollution. The reasons for such environmental problems are numerous. Among them increasing number of cars in the streets, factory waste, millions of cut down trees, destroyed habitats of animals, contaminated rivers and seas. All these problems mainly arise due to human careless activities and gradually destroy our planet. If we look closely, we'll notice that not only one city is under danger, but the majority of world population.

Nowadays we have air, land and water polution because of huge plants and factories. Even a small amount of it can affect the brain and the nervous system of people . Radiation is also a problem. It is the reason of mental disorders which may cause even a suicide. Morever, people living near an airport suffer from the noise of jet airlines and it can lead to different nervous deseases.

Many scientists pay attention to the role of weather conditions provoking depression and aggression. The certain problem is an impact on physical conditions, vegetative functions and mood. Meteotropic reactions of human organism may be normal or pathologic. In general, they are tied with changing of weather states such as ambient barometric pressure, temperature, humidity and electromagnetic disturbance.

One of the negative impacts on our mentality is anthropogenic including developing of manufacturing equipment and technological processes in enterprises.

It is said that every 10-12 years the quantity of production reduplicates and the quantity of pollutant emissions increases concordantly. The statistics disclose catastrophic proportion of industrial pollution. About 150 million tons of carbon dioxide comes into atmosphere because of firing. Rising contents of it produces greenhouse effect and uncontrolled climate changes, in other words, it is climate warming. And this, as it was said before, may lead to growth of aggression in people's behavior.

Rubbish gradually becomes a monster of our civilization. With the current economy , culture and way of life people are doomed to live among these man-made monuments of their carelessness for a long time .

Have you ever thought about how desert people are treating the greenery ? For example, Emirates . This country invests a lot of money to save at least a meter of land and make it green. Urban architecture nowadays is characterized not only by the erection of typical high buildings , but also the embodiment of various designs of ecological orientation . Quite popular multipurpose public buildings are not only grounds for leisure and business, but also serve as an example of sustainable construction of buildings on the basis of the environmental viability .

Now Dasha will tell us about Eco-cities.

Chairman: Thank you everybody for your attention! The questions discussed here are very important for each of us and for all the mankind.

Помощь окружающей среде совершенно необязательно должна быть какой-то особой. Мысль о том, что один человек ничего не изменит, далека от правды. Если каждый из нас уделит хоть немного внимания этому вопросу - изменения будут столь значительны, что не заметить их будет трудно. Какие бы Вы могли предложить способы помочь планете? (опрос участников форума)

- Если каждая семья в странах СНГ заменит одну обычную лампочку на энергосберегающую, то это приведет к снижению уровня загрязнения окружающей среды аналогичному удалению с дорог миллиона автомобилей.

-Тем , что вы выключите компьютер, а не оставите его в спящем режиме, вы можете сэкономить до 40 ватт электроэнергии в сутки.

- Используйте обе стороны бумаги.

- Становитесь вегетарианцем раз в неделю. Всего лишь одно блюдо без мяса в неделю в вашем рационе уже поможет планете и вашему здоровью. Например, для производства 500 грамм говядины необходимо 2500 литров воды. Кроме того. Вы поможете сохранить деревья.

- Выращивайте комнатные растения. Они не только украсят комнату, но и поспособствуют очистке воздуха и большему количеству кислорода в доме.

-Отдавайте вещи. Прежде чем что-то выкинуть, подумайте, не нужна ли эта вещь кому-либо еще.

- Используйте маркеры, когда приходят гости. Иногда в суете разговоров и развлечений в гостях можно потерять свою одноразовую посуду, в результате придется взять новую. Есть простой способ тратить меньше пластмассовой посуды - оставьте рядом маркеры и пусть гости пометят свои чашки и тарелки. Это занятие может стать развлечением и само по себе.

- Покупайте меньше воды в пластиковых бутылках. Около 90% пластиковых бутылок не перерабатывается, а их разложение займет тысячу лет. Простой выход - используйте одну бутылку много раз, это поможет окружающей среде, вашему кошельку и даже здоровью.

-Чистите зубы с закрытой водой. Вы можете сэкономить до 19 литров воды в день.

- Посадите дерево. Это полезно как для воздуха. Так и для земли. Дерево будет не только красиво смотреться. Но и , возможно, увеличит стоимость участка при продаже.

- Покупайте местное. Представьте, насколько загрязняется окружающая среда от того, что продукты питания довозят из других регионов или стран в ваши местные магазины. Поэтому при возможности старайтесь поддерживать и покупать продукты, выращенные в вашем регионе или городе. Таким образом, количество выбросов парниковых газов может заметно уменьшится.

-Fortunately, there are many ways to suspend these problems. If everybody starts caring about the planet we live on, many environmental problems can be solved. For example, if we start recycling paper and cardboard, we can save lots of trees. If we start using public transport more than private cars, we can have less air pollution. Local governments can also help to prevent some problems, if they forbid logging companies to destroy the forests, or stop factories from polluting water. The most important thing is, of course, to start acting immediately, otherwise we might have to face many global disasters.

Поскольку от решения экологических проблем зависит наше настоящее и будущее, мы считаем, что экология должна стать приоритетом развития страны и молодежного движения.

Мы видим свою задачу в развитии различных направлений молодежного экологического движения. Среди них школьное и студенческое движение, движение в защиту охраняемых природных территорий, в поддержку Международной инициативы «Хартия Земли» и Национального кодекса экологического поведения.

Мы считаем, что перед страной стоит целый ряд важных задач, в решении которых мы готовы принять самое активное участие.

• Обеспечить позиционирование России как лидера в области устойчивого развития и экологической безопасности, лидирующую роль России в переговорах по международному сотрудничеству на период до 2050 г. по предотвращению изменений климата и поддержанию экосистемных услуг.

• Обеспечить экологически чистое производство для выхода страны из мирового экономического кризиса. Использовать для этого внутренние ресурсы, включая инициативы бизнеса, государственную поддержку предприятий и поддержку со стороны мирового сообщества.

• Выступать против экологически опасных мегапроектов и всесторонне поддерживать проекты устойчивого природопользования, включая высоко продуктивное экологически чистое сельское хозяйство, традиционное природопользование, экотуризм и другие

• СМИ шире освещать экологическую тематику, положительные примеры решения экологических проблем, природоохранные инициативы, обеспечить социальную рекламу энергосбережения и возобновляемых источников энергии. Поддержать экологические издания, специальные экологические передачи и программы телевидения.

• Мы также видим свою задачу в обеспечении реализации ряда конкретных проектов и инициатив. Предлагаем молодежи присоединиться, представителям госструктур, бизнеса и СМИ оказать поддержку в их

реализации.

• Молодежные компании против отходов: «Нет одноразовым пакетам»,

«Сдаем пустые бутылки», «Обеспечим раздельный сбор мусора»,

«Переработаем отходы».

• Местные инициативы и Всероссийские экологические марафоны

(очистка территорий, рек, лесов и другие).

• Волонтерное движение в защиту национальных парков и заповедников, по посадке и охране зеленых насаждений.

• Молодежная поддержка проведения Олимпиады под лозунгом «Эко-

логия и культура - будущее России».

• Молодежная поддержка экологически дружелюбного бизнеса и бойкотирование грязных производств.

Экология сегодня - это мировоззрение, позиционирование себя

в мире, характеристика уровня культуры и духовности народа. Для решения всех отмеченных задач, обеспечения экологически устойчивого

развития, сохранения и преумножения культурного и природного наследия предлагаем объединить усилия и развернуть движение под лозунгом

«Экология и культура - будущее России».
