Today, we continue working on the fairy-tale Why Hares Have Got Long Ears to prepare you for making comics about Brother Hare and his Aunt Mammy-Bammy and retelling the text. 1'


  1. To begin with the vocabulary. Repeat after me: boast, shake, get, give, ask, ears, eyes, mouth, tooth(teeth), hand (1') . RUNNING DICTATION - 5'.


  1. What do you know about family of Brother Hare? Has he got a family? Who is in his family? (What's his Aunt Mammy-Bammy's lesson at the end?) To re-create the text we should remember what the fairy-tale is about.

1) Part I. Which words go together? In pairs, make up sentences and write them down - 2'.

2) Part II. In pairs, then in groups, make up general or special questions to the sentences. Use Present Simple Tense - 8'.

3) Part III. Is that right or wrong? Begin your answer with I think... . In pairs, then in groups, correct the wrong statements - 5'.

4) Part IV (p.67). Individually, complete the sentences. Use the words from the part IV - 3'.

5) Retell the whole fairy-tale (with interrupting). Use everything you've got, but DON'T READ!!! - 2' for preparing + 8' for retelling.

6) (if time) Do you think Aunt Mammy-Bammy is clever? What's Aunt Mammy-Bammy's lesson about? (speech bubbles for each group). What's the moral (message) of the fairy-tale? Which moral is the best one in your opinion? ( in groups) - 3'

3. So, what have you learnt today? + 1'

Fairy-tales teach us. What's the moral of this fairy-tale? Look through the morals, choose the best one (выберите наилучший вариант), write it into a speech bubble and then read the moral aloud.

1. Don't boast! Think of what the others are feeling at the moment.

Не хвастай! Думай о том, что в этот момент чувствуют другие.

2. It isn't good to praise yourself, but it's good to be praised by the others.

Хорошо когда не ты себя похвалил, а тебя другие похвалили.

3. Even cowardly hare can be brave as a lion - everything depends on his own feelings.

Даже трусливый заяц может быть отважнее льва - все зависит от того, кем он сам себя ощущает.
