The aims of the lesson:

The students will be able :

1. To make up a dialogue using the modal verb "have to" to answer 15 questions and make up 5 sentences using the modal verb "have to"

2. To understand the text and to retell it

3. To learn by heart some new words with their meanings and translations

Equipment: Pictures, textbooks, blackboard, chalk

The procedure of the lesson:

1. Warming up

Good morning, Good morning!

Good morning to you!

Good morning dear students

I'm glad to see you!

I'm big like a house

I'm small like a mouse

I'm tall like a tree

And now look at me.

1. Conversation with a student who is on duty and all the students

• Who is on duty today?

• Is anybody absent today?

• Who is it?

• Is anybody late for the lesson?

• Who is it?

• What date is it today?

• What day of the week is it today?

• So what season is it now?

• Is it winter now?

• What can you say about the weather today?

• Is the weather frosty?

• Is it windy day?

• Is it icy?

• Is it sunny day?

• Is it foggy?

• Is it raining now?

• What can you say about the temperature today?

• Is it 23 degrees above zero or below zero?

• Can you swim?

• Can you jump?

• What can you do in Paris?

• What sightseeing do you know?

4. Presentation of the new material

Now let's open your student's books at p.47 and look at the table. It is about modal verb "have to". Read the rule and explain me and the whole class.

Look at the board and write the missing words.

1. I have to do my homework

2. She has to jump in the gym.

3. We don't have to pay for lunch. It's free.

4. He doesn't have to go bed. It's only 8 o'clock.

Let's read exercise A. You should make these sentences negative.

Look at the exercise B and C.(I'll explain the difference between "don't have to" and "mustn't")

And now let's relax. Repeat after me.

Pick up, put down, stand up, turn around.
Clap left, clap right, clap up, clap down.
Look left, look right, look up, look down.
Turn around, sit down, touch something brown.

5. Conclusion

Let's do ex. D. students should write a list of things that they mustn't do and don't have to do. One pupil should stand in front of the whole class and do the things he wrote. The other students should guess and say that he mustn't do that or don't have to do that.
