Тема: Present and Past Tenses. Grammar in Music

Цели урока:

Образовательная: закрепление грамматических навыков и умений: сравнение настоящего совершенного с прошедшим простым времен в речи.

Развивающая: развивать логическое мышление, умения и навыки речи.

Воспитательная: уважительное отношение к одноклассникам (умение слушать друг друга), развитию терпения.

Задачи:

Научить употреблять Present Perfect для выражения действий, совершившихся в прошлом, но имеющих непосредственную связь с настоящим.

Научить употреблять Past Simple для выражения действия, совершившегося в прошлом.

Научить задавать вопросы.

Научить переводить предложения из одного грамматического времени в другое, используя Present Perfect и Past Simple.

Развивать мыслительные и речевые способности, используя речевые образцы, способность отличать Рresent Perfect от Past Simple.

Воспитывать терпимость к чужим мнениям, ошибкам и чувство взаимопомощи.

Оборудование: раздаточный материал с текстом песни, аудиозапись песни Роксет «Listen to your hart», презентация грамматического материала Past and Present Tenses.

Ход урока

I Warm up

The students read the quotation and try to predict the topic of the lesson.

  • I Came, I saw, I conquered (J. Caesar)

  • The report of my death was an exaggeration (M. Twain)

  • I have found! / I've got it! (Archimedes)

  • He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow. (G. Eliot)

II Main part

  1. Presentation Past and Present Tenses.

  2. Game "Noughts and Crosses"

The class is divided into two teams: team A and team B. The teacher draws a noughts and crosses grid on the board. The student of the first team puts down the infinitive of the irregular verb on the square and the student of the other team has to put down the second form of this verb on this square. If the Team B's student it correct, the Team A's student rubs the infinitive of .the verb and puts down a cross in that square. If the Team B's student is not correct, the word remains where it is and the other team has a chance to put it right. If Team B get it right, they write 0 in the square where the word was. The aim of the game is the same as the original Noughts and Crosses game: to get three consecutive Noughts and Grosses either vertically, horizontally or diagonally.

Teacher can show students photos of Roxette and ask them about this group. Roxette had their worldwide breakthrough with the album "Look sharp" in 1989. The unique sound from Swedish sensation Roxette (Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle) was spread over the world.

3. Mixed-up spelling

All these words were printed by someone who forgot English. Help him to guess the words that will be used in the song.

You will read about one woman who fell in love. Unfortunately it wasn't very successful for her. Soon she became very upset but one good friend gave her some advice. Now you can read about it. Verses 1, 2, 3 are written in Past Tense. Change it into Present Tense and you will get the original text of this song (you shouldn't change the last line of Verse 3).

Separate the words in the refrain to make the lines readable:

5. Discussion

  1. What does this song make you think about?

  2. Do you agree with a singer that it's always worth to listen to your heart before making serious decisions?

  3. What "voices" were mentioned in Verse 3? How do you understand it?

  4. Can you give us your meaning of love? Did you experience it in your life?

  5. Why do dating couples often split up? Is this always wrong?

  6. How can you deal with feeling of rejection if the romance has been terminated?

  7. Why is it important to take time to get to know each other?

6. Brain activity

Every person has a period when she/he falls in love. It can lead to a successful marriage or to despair. To avoid the last one you need to learn how to differ real love and simple infatuation. Try to do it now. Choose the appropriate characteristics of love and infatuation. Explain why you have made such decisions and give us your point of view about it.
