Топики по теме «Animals»

Animals. Животные.

There are two types of animals.

We know wild animals. They are those that live in the woods, jungles and in the fields. They are: foxes, tigers, wolves, elephants, hares and so on.

And there are animals that live near the people. They are called domestic animals. And some of them even help people. Horses, bulls, dogs help people a lot. Domestic animals are cows, cats, sheep and so on.

Many years ago when there were no cars and trucks people used horses and bulls working in the fields. Dogs are our great friends but they also guard our houses and they are used in the army and by the police. Cats catch mice and rats. As for other domestic animals they are also very useful. Hens, ducks, geese, turkeys give meat and eggs. Cows and goats give milk.

It should be said that both wild and domestic animals can be good actors and we can see them in the circus. There are animal-trainers that train a certain kind of animals. For example, Kucklachov has the theatre where cats play main parts. Such shows are really funny and interesting.

My love dog

I have got a dog. His name is Sharik, but we call him Rex. He is very big and he is brown. But he is not angry, he likes children and he likes to play very much. He doesn't like drunk people and cats. We go for a walk every day and he runs with me and with cats. He likes to eat meat, but he doesn't like vegetables. I like my pet very much.

My love cat

I have a cat. His name is Barsik. He is very funny. He is a kitten and he likes to play very much. But he also likes to spoil newspapers and my socks. He likes to eat fish and I give him milk every day. He doesn't go for a walk, put I play with him every evening. He likes to play with my arms and he scares my legs. I like him very much.

Pets

The English people like animals very much. Pets: dogs, cats, horses, ducks, canaries, chickens and other friends of men have a much better life in Britain, than anywhere else. In Britain they have special dog shops, selling food, clothes and other things for dogs. There are dog hair-dressing saloons and dog cemeteries.

The English arrange dogs' shows and organize dogs' supper parties for winners of dogs' competitions. They do all they can to make animals feel well in their home and outside their homes too.

There were photographs in English newspapers of a mother duck and her young family, crossing slowly the road from Hyde Park to Kensington Garden. All traffic around was stopped to let Mamma Duck and her little ones walked quietly from one park to another.

In recent years the English began to show love for more exotic animals such as crocodiles, elephants, tigers, cobras, camels.

You won't be surprised, we think, when we tell you that London Airport has a special "animal hotel". Every year thousands of animals arrive at London Airport, some stay the night there; others stay several weeks. In one month, for example, "the hotel" looked after 47,000 creatures: birds, insects, fish, elephants, monkey and other animals. There are about 4,000,000 dogs, 6,000,000 cats, 8,000,000 caged birds and lots of other animals in Britain.

The English people believe that they are the only nation on the Earth that is really kind to its animals.

My pet

Hello!

My name is Irina. I like domestic animals. So, we have rabbits, hens and pigs at home. I help my mother to feed them. It is so interesting to watch them!

But I have my pet. Its name is Dzheck. He is friendly and cheerful. He likes to look important.

He has smooth fur, big eyes and ears. His tail is short.

He can sit, dance and give his paw.

My dog and I are great friends. We spend a lot of time together. It is not difficult for me to take care of my dog.

I love my dog very much!

My home pets

I have two pets. They are a cat and a dog. Their names are Shrek and Lucy. They are grey. Their eyes are green beads. Every bead has a small black crystal like coal. Shrek has a soft and fluffy hair like fuzz. He is a very tender cat. When he lies on my knees he talks to me: "Mur, mur..."

Lucy has a short hair. She lies near stove and when she is hot she pulls out the tongue. Lucy is very funny. She is a distant relative of Shrek. She is Shrek`s niece. They live peacefully. They are so and I love them very much.

Exotic animals

Some people prefer to keep exotic animals instead of traditional cats and dogs. Well, tastes differ! But anyway, it does not matter what living beings people care for. What really matters is love you give to your pet. Exotic pets can be of two types: mammals and not mammals. As for exotic mammals they are mostly various kinds of monkeys. They are really funny. Personally I would prefer to keep a small kind of monkey that I can place on my hand. Non mammals are more popular among lovers of exotic pets, I think. The only non mammal that I will never want to keep is a snake. These creatures are pretty interesting and even beautiful. I will never agree to spend a night in a house (flat) where snakes are kept. But one must be a real professional to keep snakes at home. If you are not careful with snakes, they can bite you or escape from the animal case. Hopefully none of my neighbours keeps snakes. Otherwise I will not feel safe in my place. But more than snakes many people hate spiders. I cannot say that spiders appeal to me, but I do not scream when I see a spider and even can hold it in hands. Still I find big hairy spiders rather interesting creatures. I read somewhere that there exist several hundreds of kinds of cockroaches. Of course, those cockroaches that sometimes appear in our flats are horrible, because they spread diseases. Cockroaches can have different sizes. Some cockroaches can be bigger than mice. These giants live in faraway countries with warm climate. The insects are rather rare and cost several hundred dollars, and people do buy them. It would be a petty to step on such a beauty. What I really would love to keep is a frog or several frogs! I consider frogs to be very beautiful creatures. Besides they have different voices that are sweet music to my ear. It is not always possible to hear birds singing in the morning in cities, so why not listen to frogs singing?!

Под дождем совсем продрог

Лягушонок little frog,

(Для усложнения задания игру можно проводить без карточек - устно.)

Например:

Cow - horse - window - pig

What doesn't belong?

The window doesn't belong!

Cow - horse - pig are domestic animals.

30. Do you see?

Игра проводится на доске либо на полу. Водящий (либо учитель) помещает на доску изображение животного и задаёт вопрос: "Do you see a camel?" Остальные дети отвечают, глядя на доску: "Yes, I do. I see a camel". Водящий задаёт следующий вопрос, не помещая изображение предмета на доску:

"Do you see a lion?" Дети опять отвечают хором: "No, I don't. I don't see a lion". Водящий рядом с имеющимся изображением стола помещает изображение льва и задаёт вопросы:

"Do you see a camel?" Дети отвечают: "Yes, I do. I see a camel".

"Do you see a lion?" Дети отвечают: "Yes, I do. I see a lion". Далее водящий опять, не помещая изображение предмета на доску, задаёт вопрос: "Do you see an elephant?" Дети отвечают, глядя на доску: "No, I don't. I don't see an elephant".

По этой схеме игра продолжается до тех пор, пока на доске не появятся изображения 5-6 предметов. Затем её можно начать заново, выбрав нового водящего.

Chicken Licken

Chicken Licken is minding his chicken -pecking business one day, when an acorn drops- PLOP! On his head. "Help!" he cheeps. "The sky is falling down! I'd better go and tell the king." And off he scurries. "What's the hurry?" clucks Henny Penny.

"Oh, Henny Penny!" cheeps Chicken Licken.

"The sky is falling down! I'm off to tell the king."

"That's not funny!" clucks Henny Penny.

"I'd better come, too." And off they scurry.

"What's the hurry?" crows Cocky Locky.

"Oh, Cocky Locky!" cheeps Chicken Licken.

"The sky is falling down! We're off to tell the king."

"What a cock-a-doodle shock!" crows Cocky Locky. "I'd better come, too."

So Chicken Licken, Henny Penny and Cocky Locky scurry along to tell the king.

"What's the hurry? Quack Ducky Lucky and Drakey Lakey. "Oh, Ducky Lucky and Drakey Lakey!" cheeps Chicken Licken. "The sky is falling down! We're off to tell the king." "You look very shaky!" quacks Drakey Lakey. "We'd better come, too."

So Chicken Licken, Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky and Drakey Lakey scurry along to tell the king.

"What's the hurry?" honks Goosey Loosey.

"Oh, Goosey Loosey!" cheeps Chicken Licken. "The sky is falling down! We're off to tell the king." "Goodness gracious!" gasps Goosey Loosey. "I'd better come, too." And off they scurry. "What's the hurry?" gobbles Turkey Lurkey.

"Oh, Turkey Lurkey!" cheeps Chicken Licken. "The sky is falling down! We're off to tell the king." "I feel horribly wobbly," gobbles Turkey Lurkey. "I'd better come, too." So Chicken Licken, Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky, Drakey Lakey, Goosey Loosey and Turkey Lurkey scurry along to tell the king.

"What's the hurry?" snaps Foxy Loxy. "Oh, Foxy Loxy!" cheeps Chicken Linken.

"The sky is falling down! We're off to tell the king."

"Aha!" smiles Foxy Loxy. He has a cunning plan. " Follow me, my feathery friends," smiles Foxy Loxy. "I can help you find the king." So Chicken Licken, Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky, Drakey Lakey, Goosey Loosey and Turkey Lurkey hurry and scurry behind Foxy Loxy, all the way to the Foxy Loxy Family lair- just in time for dinner. And that was the end of Chicken Licken, Henny Penny, Cocky Locky, Ducky Lucky, Drakey Lakey, Goosey Loosey and Turkey Lurkey. And the king never did find out that the sky was falling down.

The Dog, the Cat, the Ass, and the Cock

Once upon a time, a long while ago, when beasts and fowls could talk, it happened that a dog lived in a farmer's barnyard. By and by he grew tired of watching the house all night and working hard all day, so he thought he'd go out into the world to seek his fortune. One fine day, when the farmer had gone away, he started off down the road.

He hadn't gone far when he spied a cat curled up asleep on a door-stone in a farmer's yard, so he looked over the fence and called to the cat, "I'm going out into the world to seek my fortune. Don't you want to come along too?"

But the cat said she was very comfortable where she was, and didn't think she cared to go traveling. But the dog told her that by and by when she got old the farmer wouldn't let her lie on his sunny door-stone, but would make her lie in the cold, no matter whether it snowed or not. So the cat concluded she'd go along too, and they walked down the road arm in arm.

They hadn't gone far when they spied a jackass eating grass in a farmer's yard.

So the dog looked over the fence and called to the jackass, "We're going out into the world to seek our fortune. Don't you want to come along too?"

But the jackass said he was very comfortable where he was, and didn't think he cared to go traveling. But the dog told him that by and by, when he got old and stiff, he'd have to work early and late, year after year, for only just what he would eat, and short allowance at that. So the jackass concluded to go along too, and they all walked down the road arm in arm.

They hadn't gone far when they spied a cock crowing in a farmer's yard, so the dog looked over the fence and called, "We're going out into the world to seek our fortune. Don't you want to come along too?"

But the rooster said he was very comfortable where he was, and didn't think he cared to go traveling. But the dog told him that by and by, when it came Thanksgiving, pop would go his head, and he'd make a fine dinner for the farmer. So the rooster concluded he'd go along too, and they all walked down the road arm in arm.

Now they had neglected to take anything to eat along with them, and when night overtook them, weary, footsore, and hungry, they were in a dense forest, and they all began to blame the dog for getting them into such a scrape. The ass proposed that the cock should fly to the top of a high tree to see if he could discover a place for them to lodge. He had scarcely perched on a limb before he called to his friends that a house was a little way off, for he could see a light in the window. The dog called to him to come down and lead the was to the house, and they all walked off arm in arm to the house.

When they got there it was perfectly still about the house. They could hear no one inside. The ass kicked at the door, but no one answered. They looked about and found the house had only one window, and that was so high up they couldn't look in. He proposed that the jackass should stand on his hind legs, with his forelegs resting against the house, while the dog should clamber up his back and stand on his head, the cat run up the backs of both, and the rooster fly to the cat's head, and then he could just look in at the window.

"Hurry and tell what you see," said the jackass, "for my neck is breaking off."

"I see a fire on a hearth and a table loaded with all sorts of fine things to eat: turkey and plum pudding, and pan-dowdy, and a band of men sitting round the table."

"Zounds!" said the dog, "we must get in."

So the rooster flew against the window with such a crash that it scared the robbers - for this was a band of robbers -- nearly to death. They jumped up from the table so quickly that they overturned their chairs and whisked out the candles, while in flew the rooster, the cat, and the dog at the window, while the jackass went round and waited at the door till the robbers came out and ran away.

Then the beasts lighted the candles again, and picked up the chairs, and sat down and had a good supper. Then they began to look about to see how they should dispose of themselves for the night. The jackass went out in the barn to sleep in the hay, the dog lay on the rug by the hearth, the cat took up her bed among the warm ashes, and the rooster flew to the ridgepole of the house, and soon all were fast asleep, being very tired by their long day's journey.

By and by the robbers plucked up courage, and about midnight came back to the house to see if perchance they had not been scared at their shadows. Two of them got in at the window to take a survey, and seeing the cat's glowing eyes in the ashes mistook them for coals, and scratching a match in them the cat sunk her claws in his hand, which terrified him so much that in attempting to escape he ran against the dog, and he in turn caught the robber by the leg and bit him.

By this time the tumult had awakened the ass, and just as the robber rushed out at the door the jackass met him and kicked him ten feet in the air, while the rooster set up a hideous crowing. It took but a few minutes for the robbers to escape to the woods and find their companions, to whom they told a doleful tale, how in trying to light a match at the fireplace the devil with red-hot eyes stuck his claws into his hands, a second devil attacked him in the rear, while another devil kicked him into the air, and as he came down on the greensward, more dead than alive, another horrid demon form the housetop cried out, "Throw the rascal up her, through the rascal up here."

The thieves could never be induced to go back to the house. They thought it haunted by devils. So our friends, the jackass, the dog, the cat, and the rooster, lived there happy forever after, preferring it to traveling about to see the world.

The wooden house

There stood a small wooden house (teremok) in the open field. A mouse ran by: - Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house? Nobody answered. The mouse went into the house and began to live there.

A frog hopped by: - Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house? -I am a mouse. And who are you? - I am a frog. Let's live together. So the mouse and the frog began living together.

A hare ran by. He saw the house and asked: - Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house? -I am a mouse. - I am a frog. And who are you? -And I am a hare. The hare jumped into the house and all of them began living together.

Then there came a fox. She knocked on the window: - Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house? -I am a mouse. - I am a frog. -And I am a hare. And who are you? -And I am a fox. The fox climbed into the house too.

A wolf ran by: - Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house? -I am a mouse. -I am a frog. -And I am a hare. -And I am a fox. And who are you? - I am a wolf. The wolf climbed into the house too, and they all started living together.

A bear walked by. He saw the house and roared: - Little house, little house! Who lives in the little house? -I am a mouse. -I am a frog. -And I am a hare. -And I am a fox. -And I am a wolf. Who are you? -And I am a bear!!! The bear started climbing onto the roof and - crushed the whole house! All of the scared animals ran away in different directions!

The Ass and his Purchaser

A man who wanted to buy an Ass went to market, and, coming across a likely-looking beast, arranged with the owner that he should be allowed to take him home on trial to see what he was like. When he reached home, he put him into his stable along with the other asses. The newcomer took a look round, and immediately went and chose a place next to the laziest and greediest beast in the stable. When the master saw this he put a halter on him at once, and led him off and handed him over to his owner again. The latter was a good deal surprised to seem him back so soon, and said, "Why, do you mean to say you have tested him already?" "I don't want to put him through any more tests," replied the other. By and by they came to a deep well, and one of them looked down into it, and said to the other, "This looks a nice cool place. Let us jump in and settle here." An Ant went to the bank of a river to quench its thirst, and being carried away by the rush of the stream, was on the point of drowning. A Dove sitting on a tree overhanging the water plucked a leaf and let it fall into the stream close to her. The Ant climbed onto it and floated in safety to the bank. Shortly afterwards a birdcatcher came and stood under the tree, and laid his lime-twigs for the Dove, which sat in the branches. The Ant, perceiving his design, stung him in the foot. The Tortoise and the Hare

The hare was once boasting of his speed before the other animals. "I have never yet been beaten," said he, "when I put forth my full speed. I challenge anyone here to race with me."

The tortoise said quietly, "I accept your challenge."

"That is a good joke," said the hare. "I could dance around you all the way."

"Keep your boasting until you've beaten," answered the tortoise. "Shall we race?"

So a course was fixed and a start was made. The hare darted almost out of sight at once, but soon stopped and, to show his contempt for the tortoise, lay down to have a nap. The tortoise plodded on and plodded on, and when the hare awoke from his nap, he saw the tortoise nearing the finish line, and he could not catch up in time to save the race.

Plodding wins the race.

Three little pigs

Once there were three little pigs who grew up and left their mother to find homes for themselves. The thirst pig set out and before long he met a man with the bundle of straw. "Please man" said the pig, "Will you let me have that bundle of straw to build my house." "Yes, here, take it." Said the kind man. The little pig was very pleased and at once built himself the house of straw. He had hardly moved in when the wolf came walking by and seeing the new house knocked on the door. "Little pig, little pig" he said "Open up the door and let me in." Now the little pig's mother had warned him about strangers so he said "No, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin, I'll not let you in." "Now I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down." Cried the wolf. But the little pig went on saying "No, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin, I'll not let you in." So the old wolf huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down and the little pig run fast as he could back to his mother's house.

The second little pig said goodbye to his mother and set out. Before long he met a man with the bundle of sticks. "Please man" he said, "Will you let me have that bundle of sticks to build my house." "Yes, you can have it, here it is." Said the kind man. So the second little pig was very pleased and used the sticks to build himself the house. He had hardly moved in when the wolf came walking by and knocked at the door. "Little pig, little pig" he said "Open up your door and let me in." Now the second little pig remembered what his mother had told him so he too said "No, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin, I'll not let you in." "Now I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down." Cried the wolf. But the little pig went on saying "No, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin, I'll not let you in." So again the old wolf huffed and he puffed and he huffed and he puffed this time it was much harder work but finally down came the house and the second little pig had to run as fast as he could back to his mother's house.

Then last of all the third little pig set out and met a man with load of bricks. "Please man" he said, "Will you let me have that load of bricks to build my house." "Yes, here they are, all for you." Said the kind man. The third little pig was very pleased and built himself the brick house. Again the wolf came along and again he said. "Little pig, little pig open your door and let me in." But like his brothers the third little pig said "No, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin, I'll not let you in." "Now I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down." Cried the wolf. And when the third little pig wouldn't open the door he huffed and he puffed and he huffed and he puffed then he tried again but the brick house was so strong that he could not blow it down. This made the wolf so angry that he jumped onto the roof of the little brick house and roared down the chimney. "I'm coming down to eat you up." The little pig had put a pot of boiling water on the fire and now he took off the lid, down the chimney tumbled the wolf and splash, he fell right into the pot. Quickly the little pig bang down the cover and boiled up the old wolf for his dinner. And so, the clever little pig lived happily ever after.

Анекдоты о животных

Horses at the race

A champion jockey is about to enter an important race on a new horse. The horse's trainer meets him before the race and says, ''All you have to remember with this horse is that every time you approach a jump, you have to shout, 'ALLLLEEE OOOP!' really loudly in the horse's ear. Providing you do that, you'll be fine.''

The jockey thinks the trainer is mad but promises to shout the command. The race begins and they approach the first hurdle. The jockey ignores the trainer's ridiculous advice and the horse crashes straight through the center of the jump.

They carry on and approach the second hurdle. The jockey, somewhat embarrassed, whispers 'Aleeee ooop' in the horse's ear. The same thing happens - the horse crashes straight through the center of the jump.

At the third hurdle, the jockey thinks, ''It's no good, I'll have to do it,'' and yells, ''ALLLEEE OOOP!'' really loudly. Sure enough, the horse sails over the jump with no problems. This continues for the rest of the race, but due to the earlier problems the horse only finishes third.

The trainer is fuming and asks the jockey what went wrong. The jockey replies, ''Nothing is wrong with me - it's this bloody horse. What is he - deaf or something?''

The trainer replies, ''Deaf?? DEAF?? He's not deaf - he's BLIND!''

Three Tough mice

Three rats are sitting at the bar talking bragging about their bravery and toughness.

The first says, "I'm so tough, once I ate a whole bagful of rat poison!"

The second says, "Well I'm so tough, once I was caught in a rat trap and I bit it apart!"

Then the third rat gets up and says, "Later guys, I'm off home to harass the cat."

Steven Wright dogs

The other day, I was walking my dog around my building...on the ledge. Some people are afraid of heights. Not me, I'm afraid of widths.

I had a dog once. I spilled spot remover on him, and now he's gone.

I put contact lenses in my dog's eyes. They had little pictures of cats on them. Then I took one out and he ran around in circles.

I bought a dog the other day... I named him Stay. It's fun to call him... "Come here, Stay! Come here, Stay!" He went insane. Now he just ignores me and keeps typing. He's an East German Shepherd.

A very smart dog

I went to the cinema the other day and in the front row was an old man and with him was his dog. It was a sad funny kind of film, you know the type. In the sad part, the dog cried his eyes out, and in the funny part, the dog laughed its head off. This happened all the way through the film. After the film had ended, I decided to go and speak to the man.

"That's the most amazing thing I've seen," I said. "That dog really seemed to enjoy the film."

The man turned to me and said, "Yeah, it is. He hated the book."

Cow on train tracks

A passenger train is creeping along, slowly. Finally it creaks to a halt. A passenger sees a conductor walking by outside.

"What's going on?" she yells out the window.

"Cow on the track!" replies the conductor.

Ten minutes later, the train resumes its slow pace.

Within five minutes, however, it stops again.

The woman sees the same conductor walk again.

She leans out the window and yells, "What happened? Did we catch up with the cow again?"

A dog

A man walks into a shop and sees a cute little dog.

He asks the shopkeeper "Does your dog bite?"

The shopkeeper says, "No, my dog does not bite."

The man tries to pet the dog and the dog bites him.

"Ouch!" He says, "I thought you said your dog does not bite!"

The shopkeeper replies, "That is not my dog!"

A parrot

A man got a parrot which could already talk. It had belonged to a sailor and had a big vocabulary. However, the man soon discovered that the parrot mostly know bad words. At first he thought it was funny, but then it became tiresome, and finally, when the man had important guests, the bird's bad words embarrassed him very much.

As soon as the guests left, the man angrily shouted at the parrot, "That language must stop!" But the bird answered him with curses. He shook the bird and shouted again, "Don't use those ugly words!" Again the bird cursed him.

Now the man was really angry. He grabbed the parrot and threw him into the refrigerator. But it had no effect. From inside the refrigerator, the parrot was still swearing. He opened the door and took him out, and again the bird spoke in dirty words and curses. This time, the man opened the door of the freezer, threw the bird into it, and closed the door.

This time there was silence. After two minutes, the man opened the door and removed the very cold parrot. Slowly the shivering parrot walked up the man's arm, sat on his shoulder and spoke into his ear, sounding very frightened:

"I'll be good; I promise...Those chickens in there... what did they say?"
