-
Выяснить источники информации (опрос родственников, интернет -ресурсы, районный архив ,районный музей , книга памяти РК);
-
изучить семейный архив (фотоальбомы, письма);
-
собрать и проанализировать материал о наших прадедах;
-
изучить данные районного военкомата о количестве наших земляков -
участников ВОВ;
-
провести опрос среди учащихся школы и выяснить, знают ли они о членах их семей - участниках ВОВ;
-
перевести материал на английский язык;
-
оформить словарь военных терминов, использованных в описании проекта;
-
оформить доклад с использованием презентации.

Introduction
We came to the idea of the project, reading the text from out textbook (Enjoy English - 10, Unit 2. Talking on family matters)
The teacher asked us if there were participants of the Great Patriotic War in our families. We could answer nothing. We did not know our family's past.
We realized straight away we did not know who our great grandmothers and great grandfathers were. It sparked in us the desire to find out as much as we could about their participation in the Great Patriotic War of 1941 - 1945.
We thought it would be very topical to start a project about our ancestors who fought against fascism during the World War 2.
Where did we search for the information?
We have got the information from many resources.
First, from our close and distant relatives. Our parents and grandparents told us what they knew about our great grandparents.
Secondly, watching the family photo albums was very useful. It is really fascinating because the history of that time really comes alive.
Thirdly, in the Internet there are a lot of sites devoted to the Great Patriotic War. One of them is Podvig naroda. It is the greatest bank of information about the participants of that War. There is a special page («People and awards») where we can write the name of the person we want to know about, and then get the detailed information about his medals and orders, and what the person was awarded for.
Wikipedia helped us a lot because we could see the English version of some articles about awards and the war.
Then we looked for the statistics in our local military commissariat.
Finally, we went to our local archive and our local museum. Our local museum has saved so much of our history, about the participants of the Great Patriotic War.

Analyzing the results
In this stage we analyzed the results of the poll. We used Microsoft Excel to present it as a chart. The results show that half of the surveyed pupils know their family's history and about their great grandparents, who fought against fascism in 1941-1945.
On the other hand, 45% of the surveyed pupils don't know who their great grandparent were and if they took part in the war.
In conclusion
-
We have learned that 5 386 young people from Izhma district went to the war during 1941-1945
-
2 625 didn't come back from the war
-
What we discovered actually gave us a sense of history. We felt we had direct personal connection with the period of the war.
-
It gave us a sense of who we are and where we have come from.
-
We are proud we are our great grandparents' great grandchildren!
-
The survey showed that many pupils have no idea about their great grandparents who took part in the Great Patriotic War. We are sure, today, when we live in the conditions of political and military tension, it is very topical to study the history of the war, learn as much as possible about the participants of the war.
