Teach the class 'key jug' language. Spell a word. After every letter say the word key and key jug after the final letter, e.g. for castle: c-key, a-key, s-key, t-key, l-key, e-key jug. Now children ask each other where they were last week (...yesterday morning, evening, afternoon, on Friday, etc.) They give the answers in 'key jug' language. Can they understand each other?

III. Checking up the home task.

Let's check your home task.

Ex:2, 3. WB page 61

IV. Presentation of the new material.

1
-Check understanding of stretching.

-Students look at the pictures and try to sort them into an order. Suggest they start by deciding which pictures belong to each exercise. Then they should order each set of pictures.

-If they find it hard to order the pictures, ask the class to say which pictures belong together, then elicit a description of each step from individual students. Note key words on the board for each picture, then ask students to read the notes and see if they can work out a sequence.

V. Practice

2

-Play the tape for students to listen and check the answers against your lists on the board.

Tapescript

-Listen to these exercises carefully. If you learn how to do them today, you can do them yourselves tomorrow.

-This exercise can help to release tension from your shoulders and also help you relax generally.

-Stand with your weight on both feet, arms by your sides and look straight ahead.

-Raise your right shoulder up towards to your right ear. Don't bend your right arm as you do this, and don't raise your left shoulder. Count to three and let your right shoulder drop down again.

-Now raise your left shoulder towards your left ear. Don't bend your left arm as you do this and don't raise your right shoulder. Count to three and let your left shoulder drop down again.

-Now raise both shoulders together. Don't bend your arms at all. Count to three, then let your shoulders drop right down. Keep your arms relaxed by your sides.

-Repeat this exercise a few times. Your shoulders should now feel relaxed.

-This exercise can help your concentration. Sit in a relaxed and upright position and rub your palms together until they are really warm. Imagine you are forming a ball. Now place your warm palms on your eyes. Breath in and out through your nose calmly and regularly and enjoy the relaxing warmth that passes over from your hands to your eyes.

-After about one minute, let your hands sink down into your lap and open your eyes again.

V. Practice

3

a) Play the tape again. Ask students which pronoun they heard. Elicit yourselves.

b) Before the students write their sentences, make sure they understand that by + reflexive pronoun is used to mean alone or without help. So there is a difference between I made this bracelet myself - It's something I made, I didn't buy it.

and:

I made this bracelet by myself - I didn't have any help making it, it's my own work.

- Students write sentences, then ask a few individuals to read one out.

- Put the best and most interesting work in the Class Written Work file.
