Урок английского языка «Природные стихии»

Goal: Закрепление полученных знаний по теме условные предложения нулевого, первого и второго типа, а так же ознакомление с темой «Природные стихии (Natural Disasters)», которая поможет развитию спонтанной устной речи, письменной и критического мышления. Objectives: - отработать полученные навыки на практике, выполняя проверочную работу по теме условные предложения (0, 1 и 2 типа); - развивать комуникативные (рече вые) навыки по теме «Natural Disasters».; - приобщать учащихся к мировым экологическим проблемам и глобальным катастрофам.

Form: 11 13.11.

Theme: Проблема Аральского моря.

Goal: обучение навыкам говорения и чтения по теме «Экология», обучение ведению диалога-расспроса, формирование лексических навыков.

Objectives:

- формирование способности осознавать экологические проблемы и желания помочь природе;

- способствовать развитию творческих способностей учащихся, научить учащихся правильно строить конструкции нулевого типа условных предложений и употреблять их в речи;

- создать условия каждому учащемуся активно участвовать в процессе урока, способствовать воспитанию культуры общения с другими учащимися.

Lesson procedure.

  1. Introduction.

Good morning pupils. How are you today? How is your mood? What day is it today? How do you like the weather today? What did you do during your holidays? Who wants to tell us his/her story?

  1. Warming up.

Now I want you to guess the word on the board. It is a crossword. You should count letters and put them into a gap. What word do you have? (Disaster). Yes. Who can tell me what does this word mean? (A disaster is something destroyable for the world).Yes. Do you know some ecological disasters? And what can you say about the ecological problems we have in Kazakhstan? Yes? One of them is the Aral Sea problems.

  1. Presenting the material. (developing speaking and reading activities)

  1. Pre-reading activities (Ex. 5, p. 50 and Ex. 8, p. 52)

Match the sentences/phrases with their right English translation and practise the pronunciation of the difficult words.

  1. While-reading activities

Now I want to show you the presentation about the Aral Sea disaster. Look at the interactive board and say how this sea changed in its size. How do you think why all this happened with it? Listen to children's answers. Then Read some information from the book at page 50 Ex 6.

Read and find the new words given above in the text. Pay attention to their meanings.

Now children should write down new words and word combinations they came across in this passage. Tell them to guess the meaning of them? Then tell them the translation if they need.

  1. After-reading activities.

Now they should do ex 7 on page 51. They should correct the false statements.

  1. Work with grammar.

Discuss with the children grammar rule about zero conditionals.

Give them the formula.

If (When) + The Present Simple + The Present Simple.

Explain them the way of usage of this grammar rule. Give them an example.

Example: If The Aral Sea becomes salty, fish die.

If fish die, fishermen have no job.

If fishermen have no job, they have no money etc.

Fill in: survive, importance, harm, threaten, rise, dry up, population, become.

1. Global warming will _______ a serious problem in the future. 2. Temperature will _______ and the weather will become warmer. 3. Many countries must try and control the growth of the _______. 4. 5 Group work

Pupils should make three groups and make a project. 1) They should pretend that they are the members of UNDP organization and make a plan how to help the Aral Sea. 2) They should make a video reportage about the Aral Sea problem 3) They should pretend that they are people living in the Aral Sea region and tell about their problem.

Then pupils should act out their scenes.

Theme: Загрязнение воздуха.

Goal: продолжить работу по теме "Ecology", изучать лексику по теме, развивать коммуникативную компетентность учащихся, навыки монологической и диалогической речи.

Objectives:

- отработать лексику по теме «загрязнение воздуха», обучать построению логических высказываний, правильно использовать лексику в контексте.

- способствовать развитию творческих способностей учащихся, научить учащихся правильно строить конструкции первого типа условных предложений и употреблять их в речи, а так же уметь отличать их от нулевого типа.

-создать условия каждому учащемуся активно участвовать в процессе урока, способствовать воспитанию культуры общения с другими учащимися.

  1. Introduction.

Good morning pupils. How are you today? How is your mood? What day is it today? How do you like the weather today? What did you do yesterday? Let's check your homework.

  1. Brainstorm.

Today the human population is so large that the effects of people on the environment can be very powerful. Natural environment actually has been damaged or even completely destroyed by human activity. So, now write down all the ideas that come to your mind about the different ways of damaging the natural environment. Then make a list of all different ways of destroying the environment. Compare your list with your partner first, then read your classmates' ideas.

  1. Warming up. (p. 18)

Read the diagram and add some more. Talk to your partner or class.

  1. New vocabulary.

Ex. 25, p. 56 Put the following words into the appropriate columns below and practise the pronunciation.

Ex. 12, p. 68 Match the Russian words with the English words and practise the pronunciation.

  1. Presenting the material.

Read some information on page 70 about air purifiers. Discuss with them what cause air pollution. Make a diagram.
