Dear students and teachers! Today we have a literature party devoted to R. Burns' poetry. We speak about his life, his creation and we will recite his poems in three languages.

The theme of our literature party is "My heart's in the Highlands".

Pupil 1. R. Burns, a well - known and popular Scottish poet, was born on January, 25, 1759 in Scotland. He was born in a poor family of a farmer. There were 7 children in the family and Robert was the eldest. His father knew the value of a good education and he tried to give his children the best education.

Pupil 2. Robert was sent to school at the age of 6, but his father couldn't pay for his education. Then Robert's father invited a young teacher to teach the boys. The teacher taught him to speak English correctly and to recite poems expressively.

Pupil 3. His mother had a beautiful voice and often sang songs and told many folk tales to her children. Robert liked reading books. His favorite writer was W. Shakespeare. R. Burns began to write poems when he was 15. He published some of his poems in 1786 and he became popular.

Pupil 4. Замечательный поэт и великолепный мастер перевода С.Маршак родился в Воронеже. В самом начале 1912 г. С.Маршак заручился согласием нескольких редакторов газет и журналов печатать его корреспонденции и уехал в Англию. Он поступил в Лондонский университет, изучал английский язык и историю литературы. Переводы английской классической поэзии занимают значительное место в творчестве С.Маршака. Он перевел детские песенки, поэзию У. Шекспира, Р.Бернса и других известных авторов.

Pupil 5. С.Мәуленов - ақын, жазушы және әлем әдебиеті классиктерінің еңбектерін қазақ тіліне аударған аудармашы. С.Мәуленов 1922 жылы 17 - қыркүйекте Қостанай облысы, Жангелді ауданы, Торғай ауылында дүниеге келген. Р.Бернс шығармаларын С.Маршак орыс тіліне аударса, С.Мәуленов қазақ тіліне аударып, поэзия сүйгіш қауымға жеткізді. С.Мәуленов «Р.Бернс өлеңдері азат еңбекті, бейбіт өмірді, асқақ адамгершілікті сүйетін жандардың барлығына ортақ қазына. Олай болса, бұл қазына қазақ оқырмандарына да жат болмаса керек», - дей отырып Р.Бернстің 20 - ға жуық өлеңдерiн аударды. Соның бірі «Әкем адал фермер еді».

Pupil 6. R. Burns organized a society of young people. They discussed moral, social and political problems of that time. His sympathy for the Great French Revolution is well known. His poem "The tree of Liberty" is very popular.

Heard ye o' the tree o' France,

I watna what's the name o't;

Around the tree the patriots dance,

Weel Europe kens the fame o't.

It stands where ance the Bastile stood,

A prison built by kings, man,

When Superstition's hellish brood

Kept France in leading - strings, man.

Pupil 8. Дерево Свободы

Есть дерево в Париже, брат,

Под сень его густую

Друзья отечества спешат,

Победу торжествуя.

Где нынче у его ствола

Свободный люд толпится

Вчера Бастилия была,

Всей Франции темница.

Pupil 9. Азаттық ағашы

Парижде бір ағаш бар, туысқаным,

Pupil 10. R. Burns left Edinburgh and returned to his native village with money enough to buy a farm and marry to Jean Amour. Jean was 17. She was a daughter of a rich contractor. Jean and Robert got engaged in secret from their parents. R. Burns wrote many beautiful poems and songs about love dedicated to Jean.

А он, как жизнь бежит ...

Будь счастлива, моя любовь

Прощай и не грусти

Вернусь к тебе, хоть целый цвет

Пришлось бы мне пройти!

Pupil 13. Махаббат

Махаббат бір қызық гүл,

Бақшамда тұр бүр жарып.

Махаббат бір қызық жыр,

Шығам жолға бірге алып.

Ажарыңнан ақ сонша,

Махаббатым өзімнің

Ол сенікі жапқанша

Көк теңіздің көзін құм.

Досым, теңіз тартылмас

Жартас құлап жарылмас

Құм тоқталып алқынбас

Ол өмірдей аңырмас.

Көңіліме дық салма,

Махаббатым , бол аман.

Жиһан кезіп шықсам да,

Қайта саған оралам!

Pupil 14. His poems, songs and epigrams are known and loved by people all over the world. The most popular poem is "My Heart's in the Highlands". It was translated into many languages.

В горах иое сердце... Доныне я там.

По следу оленя лечу по скалам

Гоню я оленя, пугая козу.

Отечество славы и доблести край

По белому свету судьбою гоним,

Навеки останусь я сыном твоим?

a) Robert was sent to school, but his school days did not last long as their teacher left the school. Robert's father employed a tutor for his sons so they got a good education.

b) He was born in Scotland, on the 25^th of January.

c) He wrote his first poem "Handsome Nell". It was written for a girl who worked in the field with him.

d) He had to begin working on the farm as his family was poor.

e) He married Jean Amour, the daughter of a rich master - mason.

f) He published his first volume of poems chiefly in Scottish dialect.

g) He died on the 21^st of July in Dumfries.
