PROCEDURE

I. Introduction by the teacher.

Good morning, students.

I`m glad to see you. How are you?

What do you think about our theme today? ( give them the word-cloud)

The teacher: Can older people successfully learn foreign languages? New research provides more and more positive answers to this question. Studies show that:

- With age, the ability to learn is not reduced;

- Age - not a major factor in the study of language, because it would only affect some hearing loss and vision;

- The most influence on the ability to learn a new language environment in which older people are learning.

Contrary to stereotypes, older students may well learn a foreign language. On the same challenges that are often faced by older students in the class, you can manage change learning environment, attention to important factors and the use of effective teaching methods.

So, what is a "stereotype"?

"Stereotype" - (Greek). "Solid imprint." In sociology and psychology, the term has come at the beginning of the XX century. (Slide 1)

"Stereotype" - a stable image of what - a phenomenon or a person develops in conditions of shortage of information. Relationship to the person based on a stereotype continues as long as sufficient information to perceive it as an individual. Very often develops relatively stereotype group membership, such as membership in a - that profession.

Discussion.

Teacher: Give the examples of different types of age?

And you can see the examples of some age-related stereotypes:

"You're young - so strong, healthy and happy," "All old people- angry and grumbling," "The young mind is hanging out and draining money from the parents"; (Slide 2)

Teacher: Today we are going to do some interesting tasks about age stereotypes. I wish you to be active and creative, providing with your own examples, ideas.

  • Now, the first task for you " soul-searching"

Teacher: Students work individually and in silence. Selected four volunteers, which in turn sit on chairs in the middle of the circle. They depict the "children", "teen", "adults" and "older people" (for clarity, you can designate their place posted notices or attach them to clothing). Group calls the prevailing negative perceptions about the representatives of these ages, says nasty jokes, says the proverb, etc. and, after each utterance lead wraps respective volunteer rope entangling "cobwebs of prejudice", as long as he can not move.

Teacher: Is anybody volunteers? What do you feel? ( Volunteers share their impressions) . Then a group of volunteers are invited to unravel.

Teacher: To do this, you must remember something good about the people of this age, to sympathize with them. Participants take turns to speak and lead in this time unravels "spider's web".

Teacher: Attention! The exercise ends when volunteers will be completely exempt from the "web of prejudice."

Thanks for this job, I hope, that you like this task and you can avoid from age-stereotypes. And I have one more task for you, it is a writing stories.

Teacher: I`ll ask you to divide into groups of 3-4 people. Each subgroup is assigned to write a little fairy story on the topic "What would happen if teachers were younger than their students?". Ready stories represent the group. Perhaps their role-enactment. Discussion of the need to build such a way that it became apparent that the age of the teacher and the student is not the most important regulator of interaction between them.

The conclusion: In the ordinary consciousness of the problems associated with age relationship status and role inequality of different age groups, which is the prerequisite for age discrimination. Today we understand how age discrimination behavior, prejudicing the rights or dignity of a person of a certain age, due to the negative stereotyping of interaction with them in the context of updating the age of identity discriminatory.
