Использование пословиц на уроках английского языка.

Нестандартные приемы и формы работы с грамматическим материалом поддерживают интерес к изучению иностранного языка и способствуют лучшему запоминанию и усвоению языкового материала.

В своей работе я использую пословицы на разных этапах обучения английскому языку, в том числе и при введении новых грамматических форм, привлекая при работе с ними различные иллюстрации.

Пословицы - один из видов устного народного творчества, заключают в себе наблюдения, накопленный жизненный опыт, мудрость народа. Они ярко характеризуют национальный характер народа, создавших эти пословицы, их интересы, отношение к различным ситуациям. Использование пословиц помогает учащимся глубже познакомиться с культурой страны изучаемого языка, дает учащимся ощущение сопричастности к другому народу.

Использование пословиц развивает и эмоциональную выразительность речи.

Предлагаю вашему вниманию подборки пословиц по различным грамматическим структурам и темам и (Приложение 1) примеры упражнений при работе с пословицами на уроках.

Английская грамматика в пословицах.



  1. Степени сравнения прилагательных и сравнительные конструкции.

  4. Would you live with ease, do what you ought and not what you please.

  5. Never show your teeth if you cannot bite.

  6. Man may meet, but mountains never greet.

  1. Придаточные предложения.

2. Listen/ Read the story. You should choose the proverb which makes the best ending to it.

A) Two men were boasting to each other about the wealth of their respective families. One said: "My Pa's farm is so big and the barns are so far away from the

farmhouse that when he goes off to milk the cows on Monday morning, he gets back only on Saturday."

  • "You don't say" said the other. "Well, I guess that's a pretty big farm, but next to my Pa's farm it would look like a small garden."

  • "Yeah. How big is your Pa's farm?" asked the first.

  • "Well, when my Pa sends a young married couple out to milk the cows, their grandchildren bring the milk back home."

B) "It was so cold where we were," said the Arctic explorer, "that the candle froze and we couldn't blow it out."

4. Try to explain the proverb to your mate ( P1 - P2)

5. Find the English equivalent to the Russian proverb.

6.Выбрать пословицу и рассказать случай из жизни, иллюстрирующий ее.

7. Учитель называет начало пословицы - дети заканчивают пословицу.

8. Объедините слова в правильном порядке и произнесите пословицу. (работа в парах,

группах)

  1. Прочитайте диалог и скажите, какой пословицей можно было бы его закончить.

Customer - "I hear my son has owed you for a suit for three years."

Tailor - "Yes, sir. Have you called to settle the account?"

Customer- "No, I'd like a suit myself on the same terms"

(to owe for a suit - задолжать за костюм

To settle the account - заплатить по счету)

(As the tree - so the fruit. Like father, like son. )
